Good.
Compelling story line with characters you care about. What’s not to like?
The Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection is the reason I got a PS3 this year in 2016 some 9+ years later after it’s launch for $599 USD in 2006. With all the controversy surrounding Konami and Hideo Kojima in 2015 and with it being over 2 years into the 8th generation of consoles with PS4/XBO it looked like the perfect time to buy a PS3 specifically for MGS4. Nowadays more than ever a console is judged by the quality and quantity of it’s exclusives. Thanks to the power of Steam, Windows and X-Input lists of exclusive games are becoming short. You’d be wise to get your games for PC for the sure versatility, longevity and customizability of the PC platform when available. Better resolutions, FPS, detail settings and an abundance of Windows installations around the world with strong backwards compatibility and future proofing. However, none of the included games in the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection are available for sale for PC in a way a modern consumer would want to buy them. This leaves you with emulation on PC or this MGS (PS3) collection. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (360) doesn’t include the classic PS1 and older Metal Gear games. MGS4 is out of the question being on 360 because it’s the biggest PS3 exclusive next to The Last Of Us unless you consider that The Last Of Us has been remastered for PS4; something a good PC version would be able to do with custom settings and mods. To be honest MG and MG2 are extremely outdated, yet don’t you wanna see where the series.
This is an absolute MUST HAVE for MGS fans. Everything is here aside from the new ground zeroes and phantom pain. There is no other collection worth having!
it’s one of my favorite series ever good games
Metal Gear Baby!
The Legacy Collection is an incredible value.Disc one is a simple repackaging of MGS4, while disc 2 contains gorgeous HD ports of MGS 2, 3 (which includes Metal Gear 1 & 2), and Peace Walker, the motion comics covering the plot of the first two Solid games, plus download codes for the original Metal Gear Solid & VR missions. The best and simplest way to experience the last 20+ years of Kojima’s work.
I have had all of these games at some point in my life, besides Peace Walker, but here I am buying them again. Such is the power of Metal Gear. Hideo Kojima has created a story that is equal parts soap opera, cartoon, historical narrative, action movie, and all parts bonkers along the way. You will laugh, you will cry, you will scream Snaaaaake! before all is said and done. For under $30 you can ask for much else.
I have several versions of each of these games for some reason, but I don’t mind. Some are originals such as MGS on PS1 (2 discs!) and MGS3 regular and Subsistence (Monkeys!). I was still compelled to purchase this since it bumps up a series I love so much to HD (or near in most cases) into a compact 2-disc package and the price was right. Strangely, it is missing "Portable Ops" which introduced the whole comrade system used in Peacewalker and MGSV. Anyway, to me it was worth it to play Peacewalker with dual analogs and the Ashley Wood motion comics with full voice. Be advised though:-No art book was included (I understand this is a second printing)-MGS and MGS VR Missions are both downloads via code included on paper insert. Have not tested if they work on the Vita yet.-Both motion comics are on Disc 2. When loaded, look under the "Video" icon on the PS Home Screen.Enjoy!
Having this entire collection gives you a tactical advantage.
