Who would have thought that this series would translate so well to the RPG/Stragedy genre. In fact it feels pretty much like the good old metal gear solid I am used to on the PS2. The only difference is you use cards to plan your movement and you have to wait your turn while the guards move around. This is not as hardly as tedious or as dull as it sounds. The game is just as exciting and the pacing is as slow or as fast as you want it to be. The story is told with wonderful drawings, and text instead of audio. I have to give them credit for bringing the MSG experience to the handheld world without sacrificing what made the game so great. Anyone expecting an action shooter hasn’t played the original games, and they also were too stupid to read the back of the game box. If your hesitant about buying this game, like I was, let me alleviate your fears. Any MGS fan will get into this game quite easily and you may find that it even takes the game play to a whole new level. I had alot more fun getting used to the gameplay of MGA than I did getting used to MGS3 on the PS2.
The game is a tactical game similar to Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc. You control Snake as he makes his way through a giant facility. You pick up new equipment etc. This is NOT a card battle game like Yugi-Oh. You have cards but the only thing they do is represent the options such as Use, Item, etc. They do not contain monsters. Who says MG can’t have a spinoff into Tactical games? The series was pretty much made for this genre being stealth tactics and all. Besides many series have done this like Final Fantasy, it was a regular RPG but then someone took a chance for change and made it tactical! Wow! Now the FF Tactics games are superior to the bland regular series. Metal Gear Acid is for strategy/tactical game lovers who want to stray from fantasy based themes for a bit and try military for a change. It looks good and plays good, it is a very good PSP game, perhaps in the top 3 in my opinion, number one being the awesome Lumines puzzle game and Wipeout.
I thought this game was like the other Metal Gear games. But I like RPG, and combine an RPG with the characters of Metal gear and you obtain a completely different game. The graphics are great, it appears some scenes of Metal Gear 1, 2 and 3.Old characters appear as special cards (cyborg ninja, roy campbell to mention some). The only thing I have to complain is that sometimes you have to wait to much for your turn. You can choose like 200 different cards and there are different weapons to choose including a ninja blade. The game I think is short because it has like 23 levelsBut overall I love this game, it is a cool start for your PSP, it was highly graded in Japan and I think it will have good grades here in North America.
People think that its a action game that’s why it has a bad rating!! If your a fan of TURN BASED STRATEGY games you will love this game. I love Advance Wars so Metal Gear AC!D this was right up my alley as far as strategy and the extra twist of random cards makes the game even better.
This game is surprisingly true to the stealth spirit that appears in the main Metal Gear Solid series. It’s basically a turn-based miniatures game, except with stealth factored in. In true Metal Gear fashion, it is possible to just run through guns a-blazing in most cases, but stealth is rewarded with faster completion times, greater chances of success, and cards at the end of the level. The rules are the game are fairly easy to learn, and said learning is accomplished through playing the game normally according to certain instructions. Some concepts aren’t really explained in detail without looking in the instructions or help section, such as equipped weapons (as opposed to single-use weapons) and something called “REA”, but it’s very playable once you figure these out. Like most Metal Gear games on PlayStation consoles, O is Enter and X is Back, except on system screens like loading/saving, which can be a bit confusing at first. None of my PSP-owning friends have this game, so I can’t vouch for the multiplayer aspect.Metal Gear Acid takes place in an alternate continuity from the main Metal Gear Solid series. In this version of events, Snake has been in retirement in Alaska since the events of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, except it’s now 2019, and apparently accelerated aging hasn’t affected him as seen in Guns of the Patriots. Snake’s mission is to save Viggo Hach, a U.S. Senator and presidential candidate, by infiltrating an enemy base and recovering the terrorist-requested.
V. Good product & service
It seems like, in general, the opinions on ACID are mixed. However, reviews making comparisons to other childish card games or making references to monky “butt” (its ok, we’re not all 1st graders like you, we can say butt) are unwarrented. However, obviously, this is just my personal opinion. This was one of the first games I picked up with my PSP, and in fact was the first one I played (I bought Twisted Metal: Head On as well). Now, obviously, this isn’t Metal Gear, and its that simple- which is a fact that one would do well to keep in mind going into the game. I went into the game with an open mind, and realizing that this wasn’t going to be MGS like I was used to, but it turned out to not be bad.ACID moves away from straight action that some may play its predecessors for, and instead focuses on tactical finess and strategy, requiring a thought out approach to tackling objectives. Now this may obviously turn off many fans in the MG series, so I would not recommend buying the game if this sounds unappealing. There will be another MG game, or at this point Snake Eater, so go for those. However, for those people more interested in trying a straight-out form of MG in more of a numbers-game form, then I recommend ACID.
Well, I bought this game which is pretty old and outdated but, since I like games strategic somewhat I still enjoy a metal gear line off the story Mgs. Thanks shop!
You have to get used to the controls and be pretty patient. You kinda have to be good at figuring out how to trick the enemy and be sneaky. Once you figure out the controls and what the cards do, the game is very fun. It took me an hour just to past the first mission but after that all the other missions seems easier. Overall I wouold recomend this game. Excelent graphics.
Okay I bought this game a week ago and if you look at the time stamp thats a long time i knew about the game and ignored it. I finally wanted to get a game to play on my psp and since i tend to only play puzzle type games i chose this since it was a puzzle-ish game within the world of metal gear.Lets start off with my description of the game. This will help those you are on the fence decide if they want it or not.Metal Gear Acid = pokemon card game + final Fantasy Tacticsso if you into any of that your gonna love it.I absolutely love card games within video game form. Loved it or FF VIII, Xeonsaga, and FF IX (only thing i liked about that game). I even enjoyed Yu-Gi-Oh and know nothing about the show. I love card games. I also like tactic style games. I honestly have already plunked 10 hours into this game easily and only had it for a solid week. Thats a lot for someone who works full time. The story is bizarre and its all in text so if your lazy and want voice readings you wont enjoy this. So there are very long dialogue in regards to the odd story that is not cannon so it doesn’t really matter if your looking for metal gear solid oriented story.the card game aspect take a bit of time to understand but they ease you into it quite well. The only thing I had an issue with was equipping weapons and using them but i found out you just equip a gun with the same ammo to the already equipped card and you can fire.Issues i wished were not present:card cut scenes- they are fun at firs.
