Being a big fan of the first Mercenaries I decided to pre-order the game. So far I like it but there is one blaring error on the retrolio description, that being there is NO Split-Screen Co-op. retrolio needs to fix this in their description. Mind you they have XBox Live Co-op, but my friend doesn’t have XBox Live and part of the fun is for him to come over so we can play side by side.Also, as with Battlefield: Bad Company I have not had any luck connecting to the EA Servers which means I wouldn’t be able to play XBox Live Co-op either. Reading the support boards this seems to be a common problem and even after altering some port settings and such it still does not want to connect to the EA Servers(but it handles other XBox Live games just fine like COD4). Just a warning to any of you who have had problems in the past with EA Games connecting, that this is probably no different.For the game itself. Well, I have only played a short ways into it and there seems to be much more in depth stuff you can do in terms of creating your own mercenary company, but I have barely scratched the surface.On the plus side the explosions from say an Air Strike are definately more impressive then the original mercenaries. And so far most everything seems to be destructible, except if they don’t want you to access it yet.A few cons so far are that you can’t seem to duck(if your taking cover) and for that matter with all the games out that do allow you to take cover(Gears of War, Army of Two or.

I got this in anticipation of an upcoming trip to Venezula and have since discovered that this misreprents the country. While I was able to hire a mechanic and helicopter pilot, my mechanic refused to build custom vehicles complete with rocket launchers and my pilot refused to pickup the fuel tanks I specified. Also I did not find stacks of money scattered around on hilltops or backyards and not only was I unable to use my grapple on a single helicopter flying by, it was surprisingly difficult to hijack civilians out of their cars or motorcycles! Unlike this video, they fought back and were extremely violent! In short, I would not recommend this travel DVD.
Very pleased with the expedient timeframe in which the product was shipped. No hesitation on getting the product out in the mail. My son was very pleased with the product. The only issue we have not figured out is why the Xbox has to be off line for the game to work. That’s another issue I guess.
This game is fun and entertaining for what it is. No where near perfect, but what game truely is. IMO there is no such thing as ” perfect “. I really enjoyed the first Mercenaries game back in 2005 and what you get here is pretty much the same M.O. just in a different setting. I will agree with some of the other reviews and say that the graffics aren’t where they should be. That doesn’t bother me as much like it seems to for a lot of others. I feel that the graffics are decent enough to make it an entertaining and enjoyable experience. I personally purchased this game for it’s replay value. I happen to prefer games that you can play more than once and not get bored of too fast. So just sit back, relax and enjoy blowing the crap out of everything in site. I give this game 4 out of 5 stars for it’s entertainment purposes. I would have given it 5 stars if the graffics were comparable to most other ” next gen ” games out there.

Its really hard to describe how good this game is so ill keep this short. There are over 170 vehicles to drive, you can create your own military company and employ mercenaries (you cant create any, its already pre-determined). The graphics are phenominal, it reminds me of Just Cause another great game. Its pretty long, and interesting. The new weapons are awsome, and there are many minor improvements from the last game, the last game had kinda depressing environments, these are gorgeous and bright and vivid, buy this and dont 2nd guess or look back. You wont be dissapointed
For some of you older gamers, this is more like an expansion pack (remember those??) than a true sequel, but I guess there’s no point in releasing an expansion on a next gen platform when the original was on the previous gen, so that’s why we have a Mercenaries 2 that’s basically like Mercenaries 1 with a few extras thrown inThe game play is exactly the same, the airstrikes and vehicle drops are the same, capturing people and loading them on extraction choppers still the same, hijacking vehicles has been turned into an easy mini game but is still essentially the same, this is pretty much exactly the same game as the first one. If you played the previous version you can pick this up without looking at the rule book and play it just fineThe major changes are: 1) the difficulty seems slightly higher to me, which is good, 2) you can swim through water now, and pilot boats, which to tell the truth makes no difference to me but I guess its a good thing, 3) you have a pair of binoculars now (big deal) and 4) you have to find and hire mercenaries to do simple things like drop you off in remote areas or work on your vehiclesBasically those few things and the fact that its set in South America instead of Asia are the only changes up to where I’m at now, maybe 10 hours in. Hope that helps you make a decision on your possible purchaseEdited to say that I just beat the game and like seemingly every game that comes out now, its not very long at all. Maybe 1/4 as long as the first one
