I just got this game yesterday and I was impressed with the over all presentation. Sure it’s no Halo 2 (comes out in less than 30 days) mind you, but it’s not supposed to be. This is a very accurate vietnam war game. I myself own some of the weapons that are avalible in the game (Colt 1911, SKS, M14), and they all sound and reload the way they do in real life. The single player game and 2 player cooperative mode is very well done. The trees, voices, and best of all the explosios all have very nice touches added to them. Both the enemy and allied AI is good but not great. The soundtrack is another stong point for the game it consists of 60’s and 70’s music combined with a classic modern battle score. The developers 2015,were previously with EA games and made allied assualt. The first medal of honor on ps1 was a breakthrough in ww2 games, and at the time was created by dreamworks interactive. Electronic Arts being as greedy as they are bought the small development team and like their sports franchises tried to create a monopoly. MOH Allied Assault was a great game on the PC but it lacked what war was all about, blood and more importantly the attitudes of the men who fought it. MOH frontline was a scaled down version of allied assault for PS2 and was a direct port to XBOX, as was Rising Sun. These were both ok games, but they were lacking something. Men of Valor powered by the unreal engine improves the over concept of the first person war game genre and adds severa.
Game sets in ’68 Nam. You start as a private and advance higher and higher through the ranks. Game play is very good, very challenging but it has it flaws as does every other game out there. I’ll give you a for instance: During gameplay you and your squadmates are engaging the Vietcong and your allies will run right into the enemy and the enemy will find you first and shoot at you. But during later missions your squad will actually get in some great shots to aid you. Graphics are outstanding, voice-over is a little off. Very graphic about blood and body parts and yes very course language. Has a great soundtrack from the 60’s. Be warned this game is very, very long. Another plus, it has co-op play so you and your buddy can play split screen or even on XBox Live. So, enjoy this game because, I love it.
PLEASE DONT MAKE TO MUCH OUT OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. I CANT BELIEVE THE DISS BY OXM (OFFICIAL XBOX MAGAZINE)REGARDING THIS TITLE. THE GAME PLAYS PRACTICALLY LIKE HALO, W/ THE EXCEPTION OF NOT BEING ABLE TO JUMP (NO BIG DEAL). THE GRAPHICS ARE A SIGHT TO BEHOLD. THE NARRATION AND PRESENTATION ARE WELL SCRIPTED. THIS GAME IS A TRUE REPRESENTATION OF THE CULTURE OF THAT TIME.IE..THE LANGUAGE/CURSING (WHICH YOU PROBABLY DONT WANT KIDS TO PLAY..BUT THATS WHAT WAR/KILLING/STRESS WILL DO TO YOU) ALSO, THE MUSIC REALLY ADDS A ELEMENT OF REALNESS TO THE GAME (MOST WAR TYPE GAMES I’VE PLAYED DO NOT EMBRACE THIS FACTOR). I DEFINATELY LIKE FACT THAT (VIVENDI) HAD THE COURAGE TO TELL THIS STORY FROM THE AFRICAN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVE, WHICH IS EVIDENT IN DEAN’S LETTERS TO AND FROM HIS FAMILY. MEN OF VALOR IS A GAME THAT WILL KEEP YOU BLASTING AWAY MUCH LONGER THAN HALO 2 IN TERMS OF LONGEVITY. ONE OF THE KNOCKS ON THIS GAME IS THE ENEMY (AI). YES, YOU SOMETIMES SLIP UNDER THE RADAR BUT NOT NEARLY AS MUCH AS I WISH I COULD!! THESE CATS WILL CUT YOU DOWN IF YOU TRY THE BUMRUSH TACTICS.. GO AHEAD AND TAKE ME UP ON IT!? AFTER ALL IS SAID, I’M GIVING THIS GAME 5 STARS. HI! MY NAME IS D. TUCKER AND I APPROVE OF THIS GAME ;P
To the dope that asks for any and all posts regarding this game to be submitted in this section of retrolio: Since this is a review portion of a web page, one would only post reviews on this game. There is no other reason to post here, unless of course, you are an idiot. I, along with many others, look to this site to see what people are saying about the products that interest us, even if we don’t buy from here. That said, here is my review. The game is great. For me coming off of only a PS1, it is a great step up. I’m still experimenting, so I’ll keep it brief. Thumbs up!!!Follow up: I liked the game and it’s ambiance. Cons are the AI in that the enemy runs right up next to you and shoots at a guy farther away. Just turn left, aim, and blow the poor slob away. If I were to unjustly compare it to Halo 2’s AI, where if the aliens are shot at, they move like you and I would to avoid dying, this leaves you feeling pitied by the game developers. Overall it’s another decent war shooter, but there are many to choose from, so have fun.
The game is great and in perfect shape. Would recommend to others.
My Sister & I (both females) love this game and have played it several times. We are always looking for coop games to play together especially military games. We love the different levels, shooting (especially-sniper shooting), sneaking around and general mayhem. I would definately recommend this game to anyone. It’s a must buy.
Though the graphics for characters lack, the environments are lush and detailed, allowing them to be overlooked. The game play is difficult even on the lower settings, and finding checkpoints and save locations isn’t always consistent. If you’re looking for a relived Vietnam experience, I say go with this over its competitors, as it really delivers on almost all counts.
Thanks!
niiice game…..best ‘nam game out there, but the graphics stink, but that could be my opinion because im used to halo 2 and SC:CT…owel u should buy it!!!
This game is tough. Even on the easy setting. There are no cheat codes to the XBox version of the game. I am not one of those people online who you can never touch in a DM or any other type of online match. In fact, I usually end up with the highest number of deaths before the round is over. I don’t have good reflexes and being able to properly aim at someone moving and jumping around in a microsecond is near impossible for me. Shoot, I have a hard enough time as it is with the VC in this game who stand still and take a few rounds from me.Although there are checkpoints in certain levels of the game, you cannot save your progress. When you turn your XBox console off after having saved a checkpoint in the game, you will have to restart the entire level all over again. This is annoying, and it can cause a novice player such as myself to become frustrated and give up easily. Sometimes you have to sit through an in-game video before you can play. But at least you can move your mouse to look around when the in-game video is playing, and it doesn’t take away from the gameplay since most of the vids don’t really last that long. The key word for this game is patience. I have to make sure I drink plenty of water and have enough protein in me before playing this game so I don’t get frustrated with myself when I run out of respawns and have to start the level over from the beginning (the maximum number of times you can respawn your character from the most recent saved checkpoint is 12, s.
