Perhaps Megaman 8 should have been called Megaman Playstation instead. It feels more like a new version of Megaman than a true sequel to the other 8/16 bit Megamans. The graphics seem a little bland in spots, but for the most part it is a solid game. A few of the bosses seem corny, but after so many Megaman games there’s only so much to work with. The gameplay is right on (even though the game can be hard in spots) with all of Megaman’s moves every gamer has come to know. I think it’s safe to say that even though it could have been better, Megaman fans will not be sorely disappointed with Megaman 8.
I just love this game! It’s good, clean, old-school fun! In all my 14 years of playing video games, this was a good departure from the fangdangled 3-D. I would have liked it if Mega Man Legends had a sequence where you would use Rush to chase after your spotter’s car or Flutter after Proto Man hijacks it with Roll, Data, and even the old fart held hostage inside. It was nice to see Proto Man back again, in living color, and Dr. Wily too. If you are longing for some good, nostalgic fun, and if you’d rather fight eight robots and learn their powers rather than fight huge, rusty buckets of nuts and bolts called Reaverbots, then this game is for you! For all you old-schoolers and Mega Man veterans, this game is a must!
Best MM game ever, very underrated.Tons of fun and great soundtrack. Dust it off and play it at least twice a year.
Oh boy… I didn’t know what I was getting into when I bought this game. I was lucky, see. I went to a second-hand store and sold a few games and managed to pick `MegaMan 8′ up … . A true bargain considering the game was in PERFECT condition. My review is mixed, however. I’m an old-school MegaMan fan. I love most of the NES games (some are better than the others) and I love all of the SNES games. MegaMan 7 and then Megaman X1-X3.My problem with MegaMan 8 is that it feels too much like a cartoon. I like the anime cut scenes, but the acting is horrid! I wish they would have gotten the actors from the MegaMan cartoon. That would have been a major step up.I didn’t like MegaMan’s voice at all. He sounds like a little girl. The guy who played Bass should have played the Blue Bomber. Some of the bosses in the game were ridiculous, and some of the stages were harder than the entire game of Megaman X5.The upside is that it is classic MegaMan fun. I liked the fact that the `Boss Anthem’ was back from MegaMan II (when you click on a boss, the small piece of music that plays) and the music after you destroy a boss was back.Overall, MegaMan 8 is a decent game. It doesn’t deserve the title `Anniversary Edition’, but it was well worth the [money I paid].
[If you copy my writing style, it is because I am ultimate.]Mega Man blasts onto the PSX with his 8th adventure. Wily’s back, and this time he’s after two robots who battled endlessly before crashing on Earth. One of them is Duo, Mega Man’s new ally, and he battles an evil energy that Wily wants to get his hands on. So far, this is the latest installment unless you count MegaMan & Bass (a.k.a. Rockman & Forte) as the 9th, although I personally call it Mega Man 8.5. Read on to see why this is a decent game:THE GOODSome people were put off by the cartoony graphics, but I thought they were fine, even if Mega Man looked a little funky. The backgrounds were very nice and the level designs were quite good… they haven’t been this good since MM4, in my opinion. The storyline is among the best in the series and it’s almost played like a comic book, which I found intriguing. Proto Man ALSO HAS TO DO WITH THE STORY and the poor guy needs to get his own game! The music is thankfully better than the past two entries and this is an overall challenging game, something that most games lack nowadays. On a final note, you can also have a weapon selected simultaneously with your mega buster, which is VERY convenient.THE BADProbably Mega Man’s girlie voice (he’s a GUY, Capcom!). In fact, ALL of the voice acting in this game is quite horrid. I also didn’t like it that they dismissed the Japanese intro music and while I’m not a fan of Japanese music because I can’t understand.
Great. Thanks Ć¢ĀĀ¤ĆÆĀøĀ
My son didn’t have a play station so he bought one (PSI) in a garage sale. I was thinking it wouldn’t work, but as soon as he got this game and started playing he forgot for a while all about the new technology and video game consoles.
It’s a worthy main series entry, but the cutscenes are awful. Other than that one problem I had this game is a well rounded Mega Man game and worth picking up unless you have the Mega Man Classic Collection for either the PS2 or GameCube. I didn’t include the Xbox version because when playing on the Xbox 360 the emulation gets wonky and presents some aesthetic glitches, in which case make the PS1 version of Mega Man 8 superior.
If your an older gamer or just someone who likes older game series you have probaly played Megaman (the original series not X,Legends,Zero,or Battle Network) I remember when I first got my NES when I was 5 and Megaman 2 I loved that game and still do so I saw Megaman 8 for playstaition decided I should check up on this series (I’m more of a Megaman X fan) from the opening movie which is shown in stunning anime to the ending credits this game is flawless the story begins with 2 strange robots fighting in the deep reaches of space when they injure each other so bad that they crash land into earth and Megaman heads to investigate when he gets there Dr. Wily (for you noobs Megaman’s main enemy) is carrying off one of the robots which has very evil very powerful energy Wily is harnesting so Megaman helps the second robot and heads after Wily so the battle begins with your standard 4 bosses Clownman,Grenademan,Frostman, and Tenguman(my personal favorite) and after they are done your next four appear Swordman,Astroman,Searchman, and Aquaman(not to be confused with the DC comics hero) you Megaman veterans already know where this is going even though the game is standard Megaman format that same format is perfect and if it ain’t broke don’t fix itGraphics wise the game rules its 2D but very good looking 2D the enemies and backgrounds are very detailed I could just stare at them all day but I won’t but anyway you older gamers will admit this is a huge step up from NES and SNES(remember.
I just wanted to give the game the score it deserve. Clearly one of capcoms best and most remembered mega man 8 to me at least. The new mega mans are just lazy cut n paste of old 8 bit graphics. This game is the only game that revamped the true mega man in amazing, new to 2d sprites with animations to make any fan 2d games proud. A great game to have in your collection for vet collectors. The goodGameplayIts a side scroll, gorgeous 2d game where you play as mega man, a humanoid robot that polices the world.-bringing the end to robot masters that ensue terrorism and saving people lives when disasters hits. The enemies are fair yet challenging, goes for the actually stages as well. The truly skilled can beat bosses without using their weakness that you receive from beating bosses. The game is about 15 stages long.-they are very creative with vivid color and deep animation. Each stage has a boss at the end. Most bosses gives you their powers when defeated.Plenty of hidden cash to upgrade your abilities that mega man s sister roll provides in her workshop.Great musicSuites the game well with a upbeat tune. Stage themes fit the stages well and music doesnt go over board to ruin it.-street fighter 4 ruined many classic character themes by adding something that doesnt belong in the theme. (love astro man stages theme and tengu man s as well.)Creative stunning 2d graphics, detailed animation on all enemies, heavy detailed stages.Rewards skilled players that can win without using boss wea.
