Yes I was there on Day One when Sony Launched this console which was akin to the significance of the Moon Landing for the Console Wars. Shots were fired by this little console that ruled the market, Scared Nintendo, and Sega and made Microsoft Enter the Console Realm.I do not feel the need to be a Petty Whiny Millennial who pulls their face away from their Cellphone and Bashes anything for the sheer sake of being a a Whiny Twit. This “CLASSIC” Console is a quick journey down memory lane for the people who loved the memory of these Ground Breaking Games. It provides a window to that Era when something Truly amazing had arrived. When this system came out there were no Dual Shock Controllers yet, there were no True 3D games yet, Everything current at the time was Limited to the Cartridge. Funny how when Dual shock did come around Nintendo had to answer the call with a battery powered plug in module for their single analog stick controller, and When “Tomb Raider” Showed up in a 3d World well Nintendo had to jump hurtles to copy that Formula. So to complain about limitations or scan rates is like putting a child in front of an Atari 2600 and plugging in Ateroids..You may get a comment like “..And you found this to be Fun???” Yes we did as it was what we had for the time, and this CLASSIC Console does the same thing, takes us back to that time when we were truly and completely amazed. Now its hard to Polish a Turd like the Atari 2600 “Pacman” or the console killer “ET” but thats becau.
This looks really cool, I had a PS1 on opening day when I was a kid and this is a very very very good replica. The controllers are really nice, no thumbsticks but that can be fixed(read below). It get a lot of hate because the included games suck and a lot aren’t even the NTSC version, they’re the PAL version along with no tumbsticks on the controllers. If you hack the system you get the most up-to-date emulator(this uses a old one by default), you can load it with the entire PS1 library if you want and it will work with a PS3/PS4 controller in wired mode so you get the thumbsticks. I like this over a raspberry pi because the case does look really nice and it is a nice touch to use the open button to switch discs. I would pick this up, especially for the 29.99 price I bought it for, I like it(hacked) more than the Nintendo minis.UPDATE: Have played this a ton and works great (hacked) but I’ve moved back to my pi a bit more and I have to say these are my favorite wired controllers. I might buy a second PS1 Classic just for the controllers. I mainly play retro games and PS1 games I just play the RPGs so I don’t really need thumbsticks. It is nice to have 4 of the same controller when playing with friends, right now I have a miss-match but if I had 4 of these controllers it would be a lot better. I hope they’re still around Black Friday, maybe I can pick up a second for $19.99. Fingers crossed!
This a neat little piece of gaming history. Not for the time era it was supposed to represent, but for the commercial belly flip it actually was. Not only did it release a while after the mini-console craze had died out, it was also over priced and had poor quality. $100 at launch, stores were soon selling these at a steep discount. I picked this one up used for $40. It actually came in the original packaging and everything, with only the box being a bit dinged up. It was practically new! Just make sure you pick up a USB drive that works with it so you can install Autobleem on it and fill it with all the PS1 games you want. Good product of you find a cheap one and install game ROMs on it!
Great delivery but retrolio on release date after preorder a month ago. Box looks good.Love Playstation. Great selection of games.
I realize this had a rough start and the games picked weren’t the best and out of region, BUT for $20 and if you hack it and put bleemsync or autobleem with retroarch on it you have an amazing little device that plays anything from the Atari 2600 up to SOME Dreamcast games, it is well worth the 20 bucks I spent on it and I got my money’s worth with all of the old games I can play on it using retroarch.
One of the best mini consoles out there despite what all the crybaby say on social media! Hackers dream a PS1 Gamers Wonderland!! Everything is easily playable in ntsc in the HD format. not to mention you can add the entire library of PS1 games & multiple emulators to it! Foot in the ass to everybody that wined about this console! It’s magnificent!!!
I got this for $30 so I can’t complain too much. It didn’t include a lot of games that I love but my kids are enjoying it. Two included controllers is a bonus. Cable length is fair and build quality on the controllers is good. Still, i added USB extensions to make controller cables reach anywhere in the room. The console itself is light and feels a little fragile but not bad.I suggest you take a good look at the list of included games, compare that to the cost and how much you will use it, and think hard before purchasing. This one is really about how much you pay.
On board games are lacking and original PS controllers are good for nostalgia but lack the rumble and analog stick functionality required to fully enjoy some of the great games. They hit the major 2 titles (FF7 and MGS) but missed a ton of great games in favor of things like Intelligent Qube with many games apparently being PAL versions. If you use bleemsync and you have legal copies of the NTSC versions, you can easily put 50 of your favorites on a 32GB flash drive and they run great on whatever emulator Sony packed in there. Also, I would recommend the 8bitdo so you can link a dualshock 4 to add the stick and rumble functiknality. Bleemsync can be used in conjunction with some usb hubs since the slot required for your 2nd controller is taken by a usb stick but I have not tried yet.
This thing is awesome. I got the original PS One for Christmas many years ago, and here it is again! The negative reviews on this thing are WAY WAY INACCURATE.You can change the settings on these games by pressing the select+triangle button on the controller during the playstation load screen. You can change the game from the European version to the US version, you can load as many games as you want to the console using a USB thumb drive. Sony made this thing open source so you could hack it up however you want. Don’t listen to these people crying and whining about how bad it sucks, because it doesn’t. This thing is awesome! I like the game list it came with, lots of stuff I never played. It has been really awesome to add my favorites Resident Evil 2, NFL Gameday, Gran Turismo with a simple USB thumb drive.Trust me, it’s awesome. Totally worth it. There is a TON of videos on youtube on how to do all this stuff I have mentioned above.ENJOY!!!!!
Don’t know what everybody’s crying about. Get this and a couple of the true blue minis thumb drives and your set. People complain about any damn thing. No, it doesn’t play the discs. But if you’re strapped for space this thing is perfect. I can put this in about 600 games (games via thumb drive)in a shoebox. Haven’t run across any games that don’t work. Pre-loaded on the system or otherwise. Only paid $25 for it. Don’t know why the price is jacked up now. Either way, it’s still worth it.
