This charger base has worked wonderfully so far. The charger comes with two rechargeable batteries and new covers for the battery compartments. The system works via a cutout in he battery cover which allows the controller to sit nicely on the base and charge. It’s a step up from other charging bases I’ve used which require you to jiggle and move the controller until it clicks in to the charger just right. This system fixes that problem.
I have heard the Energizer one is better, but this is 8 months old and working great. We probably play with the controllers for 2 hours every other day on average. Batteries easily last that long. Getting the controller onto the charge location should be a touch easier, and the two controllers are very close together, so make sure they are both lit up and charging. Worth the money for sure.
It can work as designed–IF you want to fix a manufacturing flaw. If not, then this may not be the charger for you.In other reviews, I had read about one of the charging pads not charging the controller. The reason? The metal pins that protrude upward are not high enough. When comparing both charging locations, it was very visibly that one was lower than the other. The solution was simple: Unplug the charger first. Then carefully use jewelers screwdrivers to bend the metal contacts just a bit more. The contacts now stick up perfectly. Now my controllers are always charged.
Nothing but good things to say about this. Anyone having trouble putting the battery/back cover on has to be pretty retarded. If you have the mental capacity of a 6 year old you can do this with ease without instructions. The controllers dock easily and recharge pretty fast. A red light indicates that the battery is charging, a green light indicates that the battery is fully charged and then it will eventually just stop charging to save battery life. Cheap buy, well worth the money.
This charger base is great for a casual gamer! I charge my controllers on it with no problems. Sometimes when you set the controller on the charger, you have to move it around a bit to make sure it is going to be charging. Aside from that it doesn’t take long to get a full charge and after it is charged you get plenty of game play hours from the battery! I would recommend this charger for anyone with an xbox one who doesn’t want to purchase batteries often!
This is a must have, period. I put the controller on the dock out of the box only to find the battery was already fully charged.I used it for 8 days, a few hours a day, and my battery is showing 50%. I ran it for another week and it was still showing 30% so I gave up on trying to wear it down. I’ve not been playing much this past month, but haven’t put it back on the charger since November 1st just to see how long it takes to kill the charge…it’s December 1st now and it still has 50%…it also only took about 30 minutes to charge from 30% before. Excellent. Excellent. Also; the battery snapped in immediately with no discomfort or challenge. Anyone having trouble with this might be challenged themselves, because there was literally no issue for me.
i purchased this unit because of the great quality and consistency I had with using the model created for the XB360. Recharging was awesome, relatively fast and it’s definitely a good idea when it comes to keeping things in a place. Without this, I leave the controllers around because it doesn’t matter. One gripe. The XB360 model has a relatively well hidden USB port on the front. I love this. I keep the controllers within arms reach, also allowing me to plug in my phone or my headset or whatever without going to an outlet or the game unit itself. Fast forward to the new Nyko charge base. From what I’ve seen? It works well, but without the USB port. WHY NYKO? WHY?! it was so convenient. it was a nice add-on. unfortunately this charge base doesn’t come with a USB port, but it seems to work well thus far. I’d recommend to a friend that doesn’t like power wires and can’t afford to put new batteries in the controller every other day. five stars if the USB port was on there. I came to expect it would be there…
Nice accessory. Comes with everything needed to convert the standard Xbox One controllers. I’ve been using this for the last month and so far so good. It looks and feels like good quality electronics. Nice indicator lights tell you if the remote is hooked in correctly or not (takes some practice to make sure it is hooked in correctly and the lights are very helpful). It also shows if the controller is charging or fully charged. The batteries seem to last a fair amount of time, but I have not tested their limit. So far, and as long as I plug in every time after using the controllers, I have not run out of battery once.
I have had the Nyko Charge Base for over a year now and it still works perfectly. The batteries have faded from about 12 hours of gameplay per charge (when new) to about 5-6 hours (a little over a year old). The batteries still work fine they just need to be charged a little more often. This is easily done on the Charge Base which is molded to the shape of the controller. It is very easy to put the controller on the Base, and its just as easy to remove. Why waste money on expensive batteries that you are just going to throw away? Buy this and it will eventually pay for itself, especially for avid gamers. I am about to buy a second one for my other 2 controllers.
Overall, this is a pretty good charging station for the XBOX. My only real complaint with it is that the batteries don’t last as long as I would like them to. With regular batteries I can get maybe a week or so of really solid playing (more than 6 hours a day), but with these charge packs you are looking at about 6-8 hours total before they need to be recharged. Not a huge issue if you have a second controller to switch to or you aren’t a diehard, marathon gamer, but something to be wary of all the same.
