Great game
Played the demo and even though I aggreed with the general assements I’d heard about the voice acting (the Maijins voice sounds EXACTLY like Jim Florentines retarded voiice from Terrorizing Telemarketers…spot on) I hoped the puzzles and good gameplay would override that issue. I loved Ico and have always been looking for games that have the same vibe so was looking forward to picking this up. You can imagine my suprise at seeing this game on the shelf of a local game stored the day before yesterday….USED! When I brought it up to the counter I made the mistake of asking when it came out…d’oh. I was told I’d have to wait a day to buy it as it still hadn’t been released and it must have been sold by a reviewer. Luckily I was able to put it on hold and pick it up the next day (even though it wasn’t going to be relieased till the next day…whatever) Anyhow this game is not Ico by any strctch. It suffers a little bit from what I find to be a bit distracting with a lot of next gen platform games which is a tendency to make the games overy bright and unnaturally shiny (I have a hard time even playing the PS3 Ratchet games but LOVE all the PS2 versions) but, unlike Ratchet it doesn’t detract from this game for me.The basic premise is you are tasked w/ saving some fantasy world….errrr….a Forbidden Kingdom if you will from an encroaching and fairly undefined darkness. The back story is pretty week but the gameplay and puzzles makes up for it imho. We’re still “The Newbies” (l.
I enjoyed this game a lot. It is not a fast paced game but once you get into it it keeps you wanting more. You want the collectibles, you want the treasure chests, you want the fruits, you want the orbs. I played this for about a week and a half to completion and was sorry it ended. The actual combat is quite repetitive but it was still enjoyable to me. There were only four bosses I think who were very manageable. Overall the game is quite easy. The only pain is the collectible orbs which only show up at night. You need to wait or fast travel back to areas to collect all 35 of them.At the end of my game play before the final boss I needed to farm the friendship shards for about 2 hours to max out. I already maxed Tepeu from a previous room next to Hawme Falls. I think I was at 12 and had to get to level 21. It’s not that bad to do.There is platforming and puzzles in this game along with combat. Totally enjoyable. Some complain about the voice acting and repetitive speech by the Majin. It didn’t bother me. He falls alot and says “ouch” or when he crouched he repeats “Climb on my back. Get to a high spot”. I was able to overlook (or ignore) that. Could care less. The game was still fun and I enjoyed it.
it’s ok
Fun game! A bit complicated till you get the hang of it.
I liked this game. Not very complicated but at the same time makes you think of how to resolve the puzzles presented.
Excellent Game, very innovative. I love the Majin and the animals giving you hints. The enviroment is awesome. I love it
This is a really interesting take on the classic Zelda-style ARPG, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun. The puzzles are light but varied, there are plenty of powers to get and the visual design is great. The writing and voice acting are… OK, but above average for a “budget” Japanese localization. I can definitely recommend it.
This was my daughters favorite game several years ago. She had been looking for it for a few years, and I happened to find it on retrolio!
The visuals of this game are very pleasant, but I find the constant prompting by NPCs telling the character what to do next a little obvious. It’s a great game for kids or people just getting into gaming, who want to be guided through a story.
