Arguably, there really is so much excitement when it does come to video football. No matter what kind of day it is, it has come a part of America’s new past time. Even more than baseball. As for video games, none has shown it all the way like Electronic Arts andtheir Madden football series. It has been the most popular football franchise game series ever, and nobody has even ever come close. For fans of Sony’s Playstation 2, they just couldn’t get enough of it before, and it has just gotten better. The latest version is really no acception from the seven point touchdown!Madden ’06 for the Playstation 2 is arguably the best version among all the versions for the P.C., Gamecube and beyond. The graphics are just beautiful, and really capture beyond the imagination. You can play any one of the many great football teams whether it is the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys, or the Super Bowl victors the New England Patriots. The plays are just as realistic as you could gamble on, whether it is a hail mary field goal kick, or just an outrageous blitz. The control is really simplitstic, and easy to manuever for anybody who is either a beginner, or an advanced player who would like to score a imaginery ticket to the Super Bowl. The music and highlights also deliver very well, and have very little flaws toward it.While there aren’t that many new football games that the NFL sponsors right now, Madden ’06 still keeps on going. This is a great game for the Playstation 2, and a must have.
Awesome I received this yesterday, days before it was scheduled to come to me!!!!!! It works perfectly!!!
I’ll start with the premise that EA’s Madden series is the greatest sports video game series ever produced. If you disagree with me on this premise, well I suspect this review won’t be that helpful to you. With that in mind, the folks at EA have outdone themselves with NFL 2006. The QB focus feature (provides a “cone” that indicates where the QB is focusing) is amazing, and adds a level of realism sorely lacking from past Maddens. The other big new feature, Superstar Mode, is pretty much a waste of time. Theoretically, the game lets you create your own superstar and work him threw the NFL. In reality, this mode is not that much fun, and takes a lot more effort than the far more entertaining franchise mode (in which you act as owner, general manager, and coach in guiding a franchise through a series of seasons). As with past versions of the game, you do have to tweak sliders and make minor adjustments to generate a realistic, challenging level of gameplay. I have always wondered why the “preset” levels on games like Madden aren’t better adjusted to real players, but that being said, I’ve got everything set up well now, and the gameplay is fantastic.
great
Madden once again doesn’t dissapoint, this maybe an older game but it’s still a fun game and one of the best from the franchise in my opinion. While the graphics may not be as good as the next gen models, it’s still very playable and very realistic. I enjoy this game and it was at a great price! Well worth the money!
Over the last few years the quality of the best football video game series of all time has decreased while the price has increased. Sice 2003 every Madden game was the last year’s game with a roster update. Knowing this I spent $20 on 2K5 last year rather than blowing 50 on Madden, and I made the right choice as 2K5 was better. So this year since Madden monopolized the football videogame market and gave you no other choice for a football game, I decided to rent it not expecting much thinking to myself “Now that they’re the only guy in town they’re gonna really slack off”. I am pleasantly surprised to say I was wrong. I’ll even go as far as to say this is the best football game I’ve ever played. The graphics are much better than previous years and the game has lots of cool new features. The passing cone is neat and pretty easy to master although maybe I’m a bit spoiled because I’m a Packer’s fan and Brett Favre has one of the biggest lines of vision in the game. The coolest part about the new passing sytem though is Precision Passing. Tired of defenders always tipping the ball away from your recievers? Well you’ll love precision passing. Using the anolog stick you can aim where you want you throw to your reciever to go. You can lead him a little extra if a defender is right on his tail or throw it high over the defender’s head. This adds a new level of realism to the game. The new Superstar mode is a good idea but it’s not deep enough to justify playing it over Franchise Mode.
Ahh, the memories.
The new Madden game has finally come out. Why McNabb is on the cover I don’t know. Anyway, overall, EA Sports has dropped another keeper. No surprise really, as EA always has the best sports games on the market. The game is fun, enjoyable, and they have even added a few new features to make it more challenging. A new mode has been added as well. I do have to agree with what alot of other reviewers have been saying though: It is like Madden 2005 just with a new mode. Sometimes the gameplay lags, but really it’s okay for the most part. One cool new feature is the QB vision. Many reviewers complain and say it is difficult to manuever. I don’t really think so. Mostly, I can get the ball off to the right receiver on time without being sacked. Sometimes though, when I’m trying to adjust my vision to fit a receiver, I end up getting sacked in the process. This can happen alot, but with practice, QB mode should be easy to master after awhile. Better QB’s, like Peyton Manning, have almost half the field of vision. 2nd string or less talented QB’s may only have one little spot on the field worth of vision. It depends on the skill of your QB, but having little vision isn’t that hard if you yourself is skilled at the game. It depends on the player more, but having a field of vision can help you get down the field quicker.A new spinoff of the Franchise mode has been added, called the Superstar mode. In this, you get to create a player, and send him through his career from being drafted to.
Loved it when I was a kid and still love it today. I’ve been playing it non-stop for a couple weeks now and can’t get enough.
I really really liked ‘O5 and digged both the Franchise and Online features. But as of right now, i’m not sure if i like that new passing system–just because it’s difficult right now, and you can tell who/where your opponent is throwing to for the most part. I think its hard to move 2 joysticks around at the same time. I understand they want to make it more challenging, but, i think its hard to move your QB around and move his vision at the same time. They also switched up the turbo buttons [i’m not really sure why] but that just confuses me more–and there’s no way to change them back. They finally made the running game more effective with the truck stick as well as more fluid jukes and spin moves. But anyway, the graphics and all that other stuff are consistantly good. I just have to play it more–then i’ll like it, get better, and that’s when I’ll see y’all online! That’s where i think the game is really fun. The Franchise mode and new Superstar make the game worthwhile for people offline.Where is the lateral, EA!? WHERE!?! By making all these major changes to the system, i think they missed out of some really basic things, like being able to make your own controls.
