Great game – easy to play, a lot of fun!
It is definitely my favorite game of theirs. I gave Fluxx a 6/10 stars, and Just Desserts is a 7/10. I think I would always choose Just Desserts over Fluxx. The theme is a great one and the artwork is fun and very well done. The game is filled with so many desserts – you will probably want to eat some after playing. The game is definitely not as long as some Fluxx games and I felt like Just Desserts is more balanced and more strategic. It is still a really light card game, but it is definitely a great time. The game provides some "advanced" rules that I think should be used the majority of the time (only play without them if you are playing with younger kids who may not understand the other rules or if you want to avoid a slightly more confrontational game). I do feel that the "advanced" rules are actually really simple to understand and that they fix some of the small issues that happen when you play without them. If you play without the "advanced" rules it seems like you may have a run-away winner issue, but if you add the other rules it definitely balances it out in my opinion. The quality of the cards is good. I really enjoyed how many different desserts they incorporated into the game and again, the artwork is really great. A simple, fun, set collecting card game that is by far my favorite Looney game and that is How Lou Sees It!
Everything ad advertised – thanks!
My family loves this game and all the expansion packs! Highly recommend.
The instructions for this game were confusing. I think we figured it out and were playing it the correct way. Once we got started it was a lot of fun. It’s a strategic game but not too complicated (once you figure out the instructions!) so that kids will have fun playing. My eight and ten year old boys loved it. The games last around 10-15 minutes so it’s great for when you want to play a game but don’t have the entire evening to devote to one.
Cute game, quick to learn and play.
Our whole family really enjoys this game! Highly recommended as it’s so simple and different, but really fun! Get it!
Very simple and fun. This games takes less than 10 minutes for a group to learn, understand on a greater level, and play effectively yet it still offers that additional level of strategy that exists outside the fundamentals of the rules. Essentially you just aim to collect "hands" in a similar fashion to say a game like rummy, and then ultimately collect hands until you win (in the form of guests). The basic gist is to satisfy the dietary needs of the guest cards which involves possessing an adequate number of ingredients (fruit, pudding, cookies, ice cream…). Each guest requires a certain set of ingredients as well as a secondary preference which will illicit a bonus card once satisfied.Very simple rules. Very quick game play.At the end of the day my only complaint is in how straight forward and how quick it is. It doesn’t take much for the game to become redundant and to start feeling like a classic card game with a very simple swap of the suits. House rules somewhat aid in this but you can’t help but shake the feel that a proprietary deck is borderline unnecessary.
This game is very fun and accessible. The artwork is charming and the play moves fast. I can definitely see this game as a frequent part of our game nights (either in between bigger games or for a group of non gamers)
It’s cute and fun! Not a game where you need to think that much, or use that much logic. Definitely a lot of luck favors into it.The normal rules are a tad basic, but slowly easing into advanced rules keeps the game alive. Definitely well suited for children and those who enjoy simple gameplay.
