this is a great game to play with family and friends. I wish they had a few more songs from the 90s available but definalty a must buy.
Yes as other reviewers mention the main screen is a little slow to load but once the game has started you don’t have go to that screen any more. It’s a fun game for the family if that’s what you are looking for and especially for this price you will not be disappointed.
Considering the microphone alone costs $50 MSRP and this game costs $60 and includes a mic and the game it a relatively good deal. I mostly purchased this for the ability to play my own games, but the selection on the disc, though a bit limited, is pretty good and varied. Me and my family enjoy playing it and I look forward to playing with friends. The different game modes make it a little more interesting.
Okay, I previously wrote a review of Lips. And while it’s a karaoke simulation and decent at it, there was a lot I didn’t like about it.And after playing Number One Hits, it even makes the original Lips look worse. Like Lips was Windows 3.11 and Number One Hits was Windows XP. They really made a lot of improvements. Nothing so drastic that you can’t recognize the game. But it just seems like a much more polished version. seriously, every aspect of Lips was enhanced.the menus are nicer. everything is easier to understand. you can easily tell which mics are active. they even beefed up the instructions for setting up the mics. the autocalibration tool is great. if you ever had to manually calibrate these kinds of games (Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution, etc), you can imagine the pain but this is the easiest calibration tool you can imagine. just stick the mic in front of your tv speaker or stereo speaker and let the tool run.now for the song selection… wow. a big improvement. the original Lips was a mish mash, trying to hit every single genre so you end up having a bunch of songs you hate. this one is far more accessible, since it was pulled from more popular songs.the graphics in the game are just as great as ever. they even made it a little easier to follow the lyrics and pitch bar. it’s still not as easy to read as in the other karaoke games (Karaoke Revolution, Rock Band, the static scrolling of Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero), but it is getting be.
I bought this game for my girlfriend because she loves to sing and wanted a way to enjoy video games with me. Although this game came out sometime ago there is still downloadable content for it on xbox live.
Great game and a lot of fun. It came fast and everything worked wonderful. The extra downloads easy and great. You can sing to Lady Gaga.
Lips is one of the most fabulous karaoke games to hit the console world. From the presentation to the videos everything is excellent and easy to play with. The song selection that this game have, is one of the greatest since karaoke revolution 2 on the PS2 (Still the best 80’s songs in a game) If the producers of Lips could bring to the US consoles LIPS I Love the 80’s (that only sells in Europe, (PAL version)Then it will top Lips #1 Hits. But until then, #1 Hits Rules! The music in the XBOX 360 sounds out of this world, compared to Singstar or Karaoke Revolution for the PS3 that sounds really bad, you can’t even hear yourself! I love my 360 and love my Lips game. I recommend it, go ahead and give it a try you will not regret it!
This game is fun! The makers made it so much more entertaining than simply karaoke. The original music video is available for most songs, but we hardly ever selected this option unless it was for nostalgic purposes because the “game” selections were so much fun.”Games”1) “Kiss” There is an option where a couple is running towards each other. The better you sing, the closer they get. The goal is to sing well enough that they run into each other’s arms and kiss. Too cute. ^.^2) “Bomb” The bomb is lit and your job is to sing well enough that your cup of water will tip over and extinguish it. Of course, it’ll light back up again and you have to keep putting it out with your amazing voice.3) “Fighters” Two rockstars are fighting over the spotlight on stage. The better singer knocks the other off of stage. The rounds keep going until the song is over. There are not a lot of songs on this disc that I either knew or liked, but they do have plenty avaiable for purchase on line. My advice is to buy the cheapest version that already contains the most songs you know and be ready to spend $20 – $50+ adding songs to customize your disc to your song taste. Also, look for the “packs” first. Buying individual songs add up fast, but if you like a particular artist, they have a few “packs” containing 3-5 of that artist’s work for less than buying them individually.
Loved the original LIPS and this theme pack of 40+5 number one charted songs is a great add-on. Some of the annoying things about the previous version have been fixed. Global leaderboard support makes it more fun for just singing songs by yourself on the couch. But the best thing about LIPS is how much fun it is at a party. I have about 200 songs downloaded off the online store resident on my hard-drive. When I bring my hard-drive to a party, no one can put the LIPS mics down. The mini-games are the same mini-games as the original. These are fun but it would be nice to see some new ones. Also the swap-in support for LIPS and LIPS:Number One Hits is a bit too manual but I don’t notice because my harddrive is so fat with great songs to sing. There is such great variety now in the music gaming genre. Lots of good experiences – If you want to be a rocker and you are kind of hardcore play guitar hero. You want a band game play Rock Band. If you are more about singing or singing off against others at a party – play LIPS.
For all the karaoke fans that like to watch the real videos and have a greater variety this is the one! You can purchase more songs and have real parties with this one because of the videos. Discretion is advised for young viewers but you can’t beat this one. I’m tired of just fourty songs and thats it. There are no creating your own person and much judging. Where’s the party at?
