Update: I switched the overall rating to 4 instead of 3 because of the way the game wraps up. You have to slog through a lot of worlds, and then a second time, but the end finally gets more pertinent story elements in. I believe Kingdom Hearts 1 is a 5, and this one is a 4 (with a 3 star in fun factor), simple as that.I’ve played Kingdom Hearts 1, wrote a review, and I just don’t feel the same way about this game as I do KH1. The combat is even more auto-pilot than the first where you use the triangle button a lot and just spam X. In the first 25 hours of the game I don’t think I used one item or Cure spell. I’ve used magic in maybe a handful of situations,as it isn’t that useful for regular enemies. Limits and Drives were alright, although confusing at first of how to properly use them, but further make combat way too easy. Also I never once used Summons. The story is really hard to follow because you go around to a bunch of different places that feel like side missions. I wouldn’t expect someone to follow the story if they didn’t play large chunks of the game at a time. Chain of memories helped make some sense of things at times. I have a full time job and a wife so I play maybe 1-3 hours every other day and its hard to remember what the heck is going on. “Going to another world to close a Keyhole I guess?” While fun at first, it gets old pretty fast. I’m pretty much just playing it to see what happens in the story and then I’m going to move onto the handheld games (358/2 d.
Quick Review -Presentation – This is the best part of the game. The story is Amazing, and so are the Characters. 10/10Sound – This game has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard. Trust me you wont be disappointed 10/10Graphics – This Game had Great Graphics for its time and they still hold up in today standards.. 10/10Gameplay – The gameplay is great! There is plenty of different kinds of spells and abilitys to use. I would call it a platformer RPG Kinda like Legend of Zelda (And Yes I know zelda isnt technically a full blown RPG). 10/10Lasting Appeal – Most gamers Probally wont be going back for a second run through. Although I will be replaying it soon. It all Depends on the player. But there is plenty of Extra stuff to do Including an optional world. Expect Atleast 30+ Hours of gameplay. 9.5/10Overall – When People ask me What my favorite game of all time is I quickly Respond with this (With Ocarina of time and Resident Evil 4 closely follwed)..This game is truly Magnificent if you are a KH fan and havent played this What are you waiting for?!? This is an instant Classic that should not be missed by anyone.. Overall Score 10/10
Purchased this game as a replacement for the one I previously had. Previous disk had too much damage and stopped functioning very early in the game. New disk worked perfectly. The game itself is an amazing game and a nice follow up to the first Kingdom Hearts game. The opening/start of the game DOES take a while to play through (it took my girlfriend 3 hours on the in game clock to get through the opening portion of the game) but it sets the story up nicely and helps to introduce all the new in game elements. The combat system has a nice overhaul compared to the first game to make your playtime that much more enjoyable.Overall: If you liked the first game you’ll love this one. Definitely a good purchase.
First off, let me say that this is an excellent game that was obviously very well produced. However, I played this game directly after beating KH1 and was a little disappointed by the fact that the graphics are not nearly as good, and the gameplay itself was hugely altered ( the magic gauge was changed, the cure spell now takes all of Sora’s MP, etc.)Despite the flaws, it is definitely worth your time to play through this game. My only advice is to at least wait a few weeks/months between playing this one and playing KH1, so that the differences are not as noticeable.
This game is the best Kingdom Hearts video game yet, no doubt. Everything from the music, to the gameplay, to the epic plot, is what all gaming fans dream of.Also, it helps that this is a crossover between Disney, and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy characters, which is epic in its own way. The plot twists just keep coming and coming, which makes this game a “page-turner”, or at least it would be if it had pages. The final boss, man, may just be the most epic boss fight I have ever played. Its just so dynamiclly awesome that words almost fail. This game is one of those games that makes it on almost everyone’s must buy list. If you’re reading this, you mut buy it!
I gave the original Kingdom Hearts 5 stars and thought it was just great! However, this game I would like to give 3-4 stars. The reason for this is the cut scenes. I felt that nearly every time you would enter a room, another long cutscene would develop. It seems sometimes as if there are more cut scenes than actual play time! However, I did still enjoy this game because of the storyline and even though it felt like an interactive movie at times, I still had fun with it.
The first three hours of the game is long and drawn out. During those first three hours, you get to play Roxas. Roxas is a kid that lives in Twilight Town, along with his friends. As you play on, you discover that Roxas can use the Keyblade. But, it’s soon made clear that Roxas is Nobody special. The game really speeds up when you get Sora, Donald and Goofy. You are once again sent to other worlds to defeat The Heartless….and the Nobodies, and a mysterious group called Organization XIII. You go to new worlds this time, like the realistic Port Royal, and the word of Mulan (which is called “Land of Dragons”). After beating the game, you assume there’s going to be a Kingdom Hearts III. The story isn’t over yet! PROS Drive: The Drive system is awsome, allowing Sora to change into a uber-powerful version of himself. The only drawback to it is that one or two characters are needed to pull this off. Limits: You can perform special moves with the native people of each word (like Mulan’s “Red Rocket” attack) Cons The Gummi ship is the bane of this game, and it was the bane of the first one. It’s out of place, it’s boring, and takes far too long. They’ve improved it slightly from the first game. The game was too easy. The only trouble I had with it was that fight with Xaldin in the Beast’s Castle (he’s one hard boss, even on beginner mode).
I like this game pretty well, a newer fan mostly and just finished kh for ps2 so wanted to continue with 2. Game was made well for how old it is and my CD came in used so expecting lite scratches but it hasn’t stopped working or glitching so I’m happy.
This game is just so much fun! I played and love the first KH game, but this game makes the good so much more good! The gameplay is the highlight personally. It’s very fast paced, and there is a new feature called the reaction command. It’s basically a quick-time event where at certain times there is a triangle button prompt on the screen, and when you do it a scripted action happens. It adds a cool amount to the game, and I think it’s pretty cool. The story is MUCH more complex and convoluted than before, but I think it doesn’t bring away from the experience. The graphics and sound are as good as it was before, and maybe a bit better. My only complain is the first about 4 hours of the game: you play as a boy naked Roxas, and the amount of confusing story elements and stuff they tell you is really confusing for first timers. BUt, once you start playing as Sora, it gets GOOOOOOOD! Overall, I love this game like a son! It’s probably my favorite game on my favorite console of all time, and even probably my favorite game! I recommend it to everyone, but to avoid confusing yourself too much, play KH 1 and Chain of Memories.
I love Kingdom Hearts. I am currently playing this game and just love to see all the Disney characters and how the story is told. It is not as difficult as the first game, but it’s still nice to see the story unfold.
