I’m a huge fan of the work of AM2 (SEGA’s arcade division), and love just about every one of their games I have ever played, from Bass Fishing to Beach Volleyball. I picked this game up on the cheap because it’s SEGA and it’s Arcade, and yeah, it’s AM2.The voice acting is cheesy, the graphics are sub-par, the levels are crazy short, the controls are slow and awkward, the story-line is beyond ridiculous, and I love it.You drive to checkpoints like in Crazy Taxi, grabbing boots, finding shortcuts, and causing as much wanton destruction as possible. It’s all very classic SEGA and a lot of fun. This ain’t no simulation. It’s as loaded with cheese as a dubbed Kung-Fu epic and every bit as entertaining. If you find a copy of this game in decent shape and enjoy SEGA’s arcade games give it a try, especially if you don’t mind low-budget games.

oh my gosh, this is a FANTASTIC GAME!!!When you start, you’ve immediately got 5 trucks to choose from! you get "King Of Route 66" (arcade mode) and "Queen of Route 66" (kind of like gran turismo mode, you get set challenges and power up your truck etc.)It’s like 18-wheeler, but with nos!!! (nitrous oxide, fast and furious, street racing etc.)You get to drive the trucks with the trailer and without.The only down side is that you have to get into the King of Route 66 mentalityi.e. if you see a cement mixer, you don’t go around it, you go STRAIGHT THROUGH IT!!! :)The trucks are incredibly detailed, like if you select inside view, you get to see the little things hung around the rear view mirror, you havemagazines flying on the dash board…Two player mode is lots of fun, you hit the back of the truck and you get another "nitro" boost, but the other truck can drop boxes or teddybears at you! :)overall this is a brilliant game…
It looks to be like 18 Wheeler, which was one of the [worst] racing games I had ever played. So if someone says to me do you want to play The King of Route 66, I’ll smile and say … no.
