Note: I am in the target audience for this game. I love Japan, I love vampires, I love romance stories, and I don’t care about grinding through 40 hours of menu-based combat to get my plot. That said, this game is a choose-your-own-adventure graphic novel. Don’t expect gameplay, because there really isn’t much. You have a few set choices at certain choke points, and the rest is like reading a book.On the upside, the game KNOWS it’s like reading a book and enables you to experience it as such:There’s a dictionary so you never get lost in all the names, dates, and events. There are lots of save slots, as well as quick save and load options that make the choices guilt-free to navigate. There are fast-forward and rewind buttons if you don’t want to read all the same text again. My one complaint is your protagonist is at worst a terribly weak woman, and at most a blood bank with a sword (and about as effective). I know that is partly for the time period and partly for the romance of being the damsel in distress, but it can be frustrating at times. The special edition music and art book are totally worth it, in my opinion.I loved this game as a story and narrative experience, but don’t expect platforming, dungeon crawling, vampire-hunting, or anything like that.
A little postage mixup at the start but very quickly fixed with no extra charges to myself. Brand new product as promised and works on Australian PSPs. Would definitely shop here again.
Bought this game even before I got a PSP!!! And playing it now it’s really hard to put it down even when on charge xD Even if it’s a bit slow paced, I really like the storyline, the art is Beautiful and the sound tracks are very nice. LOVED how they kept the Japanese voicing, and the characters themselves are awesome.I hope more otome games get translated. I love this!!!!!!! xDD
I love this game! It’s really a visual novel and that’s just what I was looking for! ^_^ I wish there were more games out there (In English!) like Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. While the music leaves a bit to be desired the story plays out nicely and to be honest I hardly noticed the music after a while because I was so into the game. If you pick all the right answers at the end your final chapter with the character it’s all tied up with a cute ending. If you’re looking for a VN with romance don’t hesitate to get this!
I’ve played many PC otome games and I can tell you right now that this beats them all both on story and fun level. For one the men are NOT throwing themselves at you from the very start in fact they make it pretty clear that htey want nothing to do with you. Females get ready for from the second option choice your romance level will begin to rise. There are a few things in this game that make it one of my favorites. For one there is QUICK SAVE and QUICK LOAD!!! I cannot begin to express how useful this is. Make a wrong choice and get your romance up with the wrong guy?!?! Quick save it at the choice, then quick load when you make the mistake. In fact the game helps you by highlighting the the choice you made previously in RED!!! So those who were so engrossed in this story can go back and have no problem choosing the correct one. This is useful due to the fatc that sometimes there are five choices. Yes it useful. The artwork. It’s incredible!!! I absolutely love each and every new design that they throw at me. I’m like ‘yes show me more’ and so I continue to play.Replay value. It’s huge. With SIX (I believe it is six) different endings it’s a ton of fun. I’m on my second game due to work and school but I’m still going at it strong. I really enjoyed my first playthrough and the story is so interesting that I don’t mind reading it again. For those who DON’T want to re-read a lot just hit the fast forward button!!No need for a walthrough. With quick save and quick load, you don’t n.
Other than the other game this one has more hands on combat. I love the story so i wanted to get the games.
Amazing. I am addicted to this game. Like one reviewer said this is more like a choose your own adventure book than a game. However if you play any dating sims on your phone, this is the same
I love that it came earlier than expected and nothing was damaged. Everything is there and I am so in love with it!
I loved the game, probably because I love visual novels. The story was entertaining I loved the music and voice acting too. It’s not so much romance centered though. Heres hoping the vita gets more like this game.
Have you ever read an exceptionally good book or seen an amazing movie that you constantly think about even after you’ve finished it? You think about the characters, the plot, you get a butterfly feeling in the pit of your stomach as you read/watch because you’re just so into it? That for me is Hakuoki. As you can see by the product description, Hakuoki is an adventure/romance game that takes place during the end of Japan’s Edo period. Much of it’s events and even characters are based off of actual pieces of history, with more fantastical elements thrown in to spice it up. The route the story takes relies on your choices as the main character, a girl named Chizuru who originally comes to Kyoto to find her missing father but instead finds so much more than she bargained for. The game plays out much like those old create your own adventure novels, where the wrong choices can lead you to a “game over” aka “you’re dead.” However, choose the right paths and you’re led to multiple different endings, many of the romantic variety with one of the choice main male characters. This alone gives Hakuoki large re-playability because even after completing it, you’re far from finished. You’ll need to work you’re way through each route to fill in all of the holes. The characters were very distinct and engaging, and I found I was easily able to grow attached to (or distrust, even despise) them as if they were real people standing in front of me. Of course, each character having a voice a.
