My bf finally replaced his old white XBOX 360 because it gave out by overheating. (that whole red ring thing) So he wanted to make sure this time around he could avoid that from happening again as much as he could. So he looked into cooling fans for the system, he searched for everywhere and every price for the "best" one. I simply logged on to retrolio on showed him this one that was SUPER inexpensive and had great reviews. I know NOTHING on any of gaming systems, I just liked the price and reviews. He turned me down right away and said "that’s not gonna work" so i got it anyways while he continued searching. He’s been using it ever since and admitted that "THIS is exactly what he was looking for". It turns on automatically and he actually really likes how it makes his baby, aka his xbox 360, look a little "tougher".
Pop this onto the top of your XBox 360, but make sure it ‘pops’ on when you put it on. I gently placed it on, turned on the XBox 360 and had a horrible clicking noise from the cooler – panicked, though ‘oh great, a piece of junk’… checked it out, ‘popped’ it on – quiet as a church mouse.Blows the hot air towards the front of the machine… so be ready to be amazed at how warm the air is blowing onto your hand when you go to swap disks.Yes, the cooler DOES run after the 360 is shut off, and being that it is very quiet – you’ll appreciate this little added feature. Just plug the (admittedly short) USB plug into the top of the 3 usb ports in the back (assuming you have yours horizontal – recommended for best cooling performance) and away you go, simple as that!Have to admit, I was skeptical for something under $20… but this thing works like a charm, I have to admit!
My 360 started to get the red light after being powered on for a few seconds or so.. i bought this n it helped out.. it still does it, but its because the fan needs the system to heat up before it kicks on.. once it does.. Problem solved. . I got tired of wanting on that n wanted it to stay on instead of repeatedly powering on the system , so i bought the side fan as well.. no issues at all now..
After our white Xbox 360 died from overheating the second time (the first time microsoft fixed it, but then it died again), we bought an Xbox 360 slim. The fan we had for the 360 wouldn’t fit on the slim, so I ordered this one. It is a decent fan for the price, and ran for 3+ years before finally dying last month. I don’t expect electronics to last too long anymore, so I just ordered another one ($20 for 3 years isn’t a bad investment). It gets the job done and matches the flat black of the console, so overall we’ve been happy with it.
This is probably one of the most satisfying purchases I have made. This is easy to set up, has no power cords and only connects using a USB port. This little gadget does a BIG job! It is successful in keeping the console cool at all times.I remember my xbox getting very hot to the point it would freeze up. After using this all I do is play for a good while and touch the xbox to feel the temperature of the console and just as I expect it, it is cool. I highly recommend this product to anyone with an Xbox 360S. I believe this will help extend the years of this console for your enjoyment. And yes, this does exactly what it is advertised to do. Just snap it on (a bit weird at first), connect to the USB port and that’s it. Just play all you want and the heat from the xbox will trigger the automatic sensor to turn on the fan and move the hot air from inside the console out.
We’ve had issues in the past with our USB ports (causing the power supply to blink as if dead), so I was scared to plug this in to the xbox 360 itself. Instead, I bought a male to female USB extension and plugged it directly into the wall with a USB charger plug. This ran me about $10 all together. I was happy to see that this fan must have some sort of temperature sensor not dependent on being plugged into the xbox, because with my set-up it still only kicks on when the xbox gets hot and isn’t on when the xbox is off. It does a very nice job keeping the xbox cool, and works as a bonus room heater (I joke, sort of, this thing does put off A LOT of heat.) Wish I’d have bought one sooner.
I would give it 4.5 stars because it makes a little fan noise.. on the bright side, I can tell it is working. You can also feel the heat is extracting (I usually seat about 4 to 6 feet in front of it). After suffering one RROD already, I rather feel the heat and stand the little noise.
This is a really great product. When you start using it you will be surprise of the Heat that is coming out of your console. What is good about this device is that it has a heat sensor of some sort. So it only comes on only when you need it to.There is one minor downside however. When its on it makes a humming noise. But its not really loud. And you don’t hear it while playing games or watching a movie.Other than that. This is a must have. If you own an xbox get the inter cooler, especially if your console is in an enclosed area.
You’ll need this to keep your S model chugaluggin for a very long time, which it will
Alright, I’ve written quite a few reviews now – and have always given my honest opinion. Now, this is an intercooler for the 360 slim. My own 360s is a 250 GB “Gloss” black, and this intercooler is a “Matte – flat black” finish for the 4 GB 360 slim. (The one with Kinect for instance) This will still work just the same with both finishes and still make the 360 look Amazing! It gives it an impressive “mine’s better than yours cuz mine is turbo-charged” vibe. I must say that it DOES do the job! The fan will kick on when you start your system, and the speed will kick up when your system starts blowing hot air. Also this thing will run for a minute or so after the system is turned off to make Sure it stays cool! I am an avid Skyrim player, and that game seems to not end EVER! Before my slim would freeze every 3-5 hours of continuous play, or start slowing down (due to heat I’m sure) but now I see none of that, so it DOES work! For looks it gets a 5/5, and for actually working I give it a 5/5, and the finish… well I could not get the Gloss Black from retrolio Prime, and it was more expensive (plus the shipping was half the price of the item itself!) with that said though, the Flat Matte Black finish still works fine! And it still looks amazing! So just because I would have to pay twice the price to get the gloss black, I’ll give that a 3/5. This only works for the 360 Slim models obviously (With the fan slots on the top of the system.)! In my opinion, it is worth every penny of t.
