Having grown tired of waiting for GT-5, I started to investigate other sims. So far – Grid gets my vote for design, graphics, car dynamics, value and variety. The attention to realism is nothing short of astonishing. For instance, the 24 hours of Le Mans is compressed into 12 minutes – which includes sunset, night driving and daybreak. The street courses are gorgeous. I find myself wanting to slow down just to look around. And unlike other sims, the various cars have distinct properties accurate to that model. The old Mustang has the body roll you’d expect. The Audi R10 with it’s low RPM and massive torque literally jerks the force feedback wheel in your hands when you shift – and the force feedback is adjustable to a very high level. I doesn’t get much more real.I could go on – but for this 58 year old track rat with a lot of real seat time in real racing cars – I can’t recommend this game highly enough.
Had fun playing it , it was definitely harder than the ones that I had played before because this is more realistic as far as body damage and wrecks and the amount of life’s you get in a game
Grid is awesome. It’s the most realistic of the driving games on the market. Even though it’s close to three years old it is still a lot of fun. The only reason i gave it a four star rating is because the multiplayer servers are pretty sketchy. Sometimes they are available, sometimes they are not. Still a lot of fun in regular mode.
The best racing game I have ever played especially in terms of damage, graphics, and audio. You can race it like a sim or like an arcade race game and the driving physics complement both. You can race tracks at a horrible pace burning up brakes and sliding around corners and still have an excellent time running with the AI if you finish a race at all. Drift cars are uncontrollable to me so I just race the various normal events, demolition derby on 2 tracks is the coolest thing since sliced bread with the damage in GRID, and Touge events which are a few Japanese mountain street racing events are also cool. Online racing is great. The vehicle damage in this game is unbelievable, something like Grand Theft Auto 4 but better, and the options are abundant especially in terms of steering wheel support and designing your own car paint job which you can race with online. Lots of different cars and classes. All in all this game has it all and does it all exactly right.Now that Dirt 2 is out, Grid 2 is probably in the works. Only thing I could say to improve on is a little more intuitive online experience in terms of the various tracks. A picture of the track during loading would do this, cause many courses have various track layouts and even racing them in reverse, which causes major confusion and crashes when you think you are racing on an a track and it is the b track.They could have used less shading on some tracks, the shade on some city courses coming down onto the roadw.
This is a great game. I mean a ten out of a ten. I can’t put it down. I hope they come out with GRID 2. I would buy again over and over.
An absolutely awesome racing game! I started out playing the demo and what a “tease” it was. I couldn’t wait to get the full version. Now that I have it and have played into the second tier of races; WOW!This game is about racing! It also has a significant business aspect to it.You start out immediately in a race to earn your rookie license. You don’t have to win or place you just have to finish. Once complete you get your rookie license for all three regions, US, Europe and Japan. With license in hand can now drive for other owners/teams. You are presented with a single driver offers from one team in each of the three regions. I’ve been choosing the one that offers the most coin because once you earn the target $80,000 you can start your own team.With your own team you can start earning big bucks and higher reputation points.You’ll have a spotter/crew cheif and a business manager. The spotter keeps you advised of what’s going on in the race. He’s slow on accidents ahead of you but helpful telling you what place you are in. The manager keeps you advised and instructs you on the buisness end of racing. She’s knows what’s going on. Follow her lead. Your team is only you until you get to the second tier, then you can hire and fire drivers to race on your team. With your first hire you only have a choice of three drivers. I would recommend firing the one you hire immeditely because then you can search for a driver that has the skills you want and can “afford”. W.
Great game racing at its finest… Donkey Kong kill screen achiever!!!!!!!
This game is very fun, even though I already re-sold it. I played it constantly for months, you can probably see why it got played out. Definitely Bang for your Buck
If you want an arcade racing game with just a hint of realism, this is the best one I have ever played.The A.I. makes the racing close and challenging and fun. The graphics are nearly the best ever done in a racing game.The style and finesse required to control your car takes a few minutes of racing to get adapted to, but once you get the hang of it it feels pretty good. For about the first half hour that I played this game I hated the quirky imprecise unrealistic control.However, after giving the game a few more tries I started to get a feel for the way the cars control, and stopped expecting them to control like a real car would. This game, ironically, controls better with a joypad than a steering wheel.It’s not over the top unrealistic “Burn out” kind of car physics and arcadishness, but it straddles the line between arcade and sim racing better than anything I have played over the years.If you are looking for purely arcade racing with lots of explosions and wrecking and such, this may not quitr be your cup of tea, but check out “Split second”{
This game has incredible detail, the racing is awesome, with all forms of racing. If you like to race, this is a must. The detail shows on the replay, the view behind you thru your car mirrors, you see your head bounce around, going over a bump, ect.
