This game play is fun and exciting and the graphic design was excellent. The sound was cool. All level plays were interesting. This game was good.
In the era of games with narrative, how about some tough ARCADE? Yes, arcade like Asteriods. Have you ever noticed arcade games are games you play until you are defeated? It is not the modern game where gamer is not having impossible odds where only skilled players will pass. Yes, Golden Axe is just that.I had great memories from the DOS/early console era when I played Golden Axe. It was an arcade game with fights, kind of Mario Bros with a sword. Yes, fight, move to the right, move to the right. It was a completely 2D game back then.I saw the PS3 revamp, Golden Axe: Beast Rider and I see it is not an easy game, but not as hard oas japanese fight games (gosh, japanese games are tough!!). This is why I never bought Saint Seiya or Dragon Ball games. My wife did and she is complaining about "anger, frustration" and I told her that as a rookie gamer she should stat with Journey or Tomb Raider to get familiar with moving camera, moving character and perform actions with buttons.I read IGN review and starts defining it as "Anger, frustration and boredom defined". Why?"The combat is terrible". Today fight games have simple defense and complex attacks (combos). This game has complex defense and simple attacks. No wonder why people complain about being "not funny".The IGN review mentions "the defensive maneuvers at your disposal are excruciatingly annoying". I bought the game and… nah, just tougher defense instead of com.
First off the comment ‘would I recommend this game or the Golden Axe Series altogether’?…I think it depends on who you are. The Golden Axe games of the late 80’s/early 90’s fell into a streamlined genre of action series games like Double Dragon and Streets of Rage. The gameplay of these types of games was really focused…*You fight enemies of different variations and as you progress the enemy types increase and they get tougher also characterized by their change in color.*you did have special attacks other than just slashing. As each Golden Axe came out they became more refined such as your magic you collected. In the first Golden Axe when you used your magic power you used everything you collected. In the second and third the magic operated like a charge effect so you wouldn’t burn out all your magic. You collect food for health replenishment.*In earlier levels of Golden Axe you fight one large opponent as your boss…seems simple enough. Then you start taking on two and to up the stakes they become part of the standard enemy crowd and then your actual bosses are a more advanced and different looking…not a mk II of your traditional enemy.Golden Axe: Beast Riders plays exactly like the original games in every way but each one them was a little different in enemies and bosses, magic effects and such. I think it was Golden Axe III when you kill an enemy holding a villager hostage you gain a cross icon, save five hostages you earn an extra life. The gameplay is smoother as.
well first i gotta to say it arrived ahead of time love the excellent services you have i will recommend
Excellent! Thanks.
Cool
Enjoyable just as much as it was like 10 years ago or however long ago. Once the camera gets under control and your timing is correct it’s very enjoyable.
As with most of the people interested in this game, I too was a big fan of the original trilogy and arcade releases, so my expectations were already set pretty high. In the end, they weren’t exactly met, but not betrayed either which brings me to the specifics. I really enjoyed the little throwbacks, here and there, to the previous titles, such as the reappearance of the thieves, Bitter Knights and those infamous skeletons. The Brutal Counters were worth it, once I got past the steep learning curve for them. There’s also a multitude of costumes and weapons you can unlock along the way, which can give the game slightly more substance. The beasts, however, usually steal the show. There are about four different mounts available to you depending on the level, with a fifth appearing much later, each with their own unique abilities. The Lynth, for example, has a useful stealth camouflage, and is nimble to boot. Using the beasts wisely is key, especially since some of them are paper thin, and will die before you realize it. All in all, the beast riding cancels out some of the frustrations with the games flaws, of which there are a few.One of the main complaints, is that of invisible walls. Beast Rider isn’t the only game guilty of this, but they’re so prevalent at times. Apparently, there’s an impregnable wall of nothing between a rock and a hard place, according to this game, at least. Another thing is that the counter system can be overwhelmed, at times, when dealing with multiple.
Thanks!
Hi,I am really enjoying golden axe beast rider. It has a deeper combat system than most hack and slash games. Sort of like in boxing when you counter then strike the blow is much stronger. Also the beasts are fun to ride and you can do some serious damage with them. The graphics are good, there are a lot of variety of enemies, there are a lot of enemies, bosses, and you die more often than most newer games. The game it sort of addicting like the old school ones where even if you died you kept trying to finish the level. Also when you die you start at the begining of the level, no checkpoints. The levels aren’t huge though but the game is. I’ve read 14 hrs, but I think it will take me more.I assume the critics didn’t like the difficulty, because the game looks and performs fine. The only thing I noticed is the camera can make me feel a little bit like it is moving to quick sometimes. All in all a great game if you like old school games give it a shot. The critics seem to get some games wrong. I thought Hunted Demons Forge was good too. I also liked Quantum Theory but the critics didn’t.Since these games are so cheap now give some of the ones that you thought would be cool but changed your mind when the reviews came out. I am thinking sometimes the reviews are biased or they are getting something for a positive one. Not sure why they give out negative ones to good games though.Kevin
