It takes for ever to get into the action. The rest is just lame drama. The actual battle was completely epic and stunning though.
It is a really good book but it has to be more romantic than I think you should let be members
I enjoyed this second book in the Mark of the Thief series. Nic gets himself into lots of trouble but he’s also pretty resourceful in getting himself out of it (or just simply through it). There were lots of interesting historical bits in the story about this time period in Rome and the customs and beliefs in the different Roman gods. I did think the romance aspect seemed a little out of place at times for characters as young as they were, but that’s probably also related to the time period. Definitely a cliffhanger ending!
My son couldn’t put these book down.
I had a bunch of hours to kill recently as my family was driving to Florida for a vacation. This book was the perfect distraction from the mundane car ride and the hours flew by.I love that the main character is male. Not a goofy male, but a really ingenious, loveably flawed male with a stubborn streak to boot. Nowadays, it seems like most leads are female. I have a 13 year old son and I have a very hard time finding him books at the library that are age appropriate and interesting enough to keep him reading. (My 15 year old daughter loves this book too.) This is book 2 in the Mark of the Thief series and you definitely have to read book one first. There is too much that you have missed otherwise. I LOVE the author’s imagination and cleverness. She really can see a story entirely from start to finish. There is no faking it when you get to book 2 and you can’t pull enough from one and make the story glide easily to book three. As with her False Prince series, it is amazing to see the entire story come together in a very smart and creative way.Can not wait for book three. When I get it, I will re-read books one and two and then three, to see the full story come together. It is so much richer that way. You will not be disappointed!
Very easy to read. The author has a nice style. The story is engaging and fun and flows nicely. It was hard to put it down. This is the second book in the Mark of the Thief series but I liked this one even better than the first one. I’m really looking forward to see how things end up for Nic and his friends.
I love the book not sure how I’m going to wait for the third one to come out:-)
I enjoy reading this book. I like that it talk about Roman history. It had non stop action from the beginning to the end.
