Good game
Still scares me after all these years
This is an awesome game, and the fact that it is scary, makes it even better! When you play it in the dark, it gets even more scarier! The game is really fun, but, there are places that the graphics could be a little better, but, what are you going to do? The game was made a few years ago, and, they probably did their best with what they had. So, overall, it’s a great game!
This game is very fun to play, and is unique in being a very interesting mix of a sci-fi shooter and a spooky ghost story mystery. Unlike some “horror” genre games that throw zombies and gore at you everywhere, this game’s scariness is most of the time more subtle and sophisticated, which is quite fun. Gameplay is excellent and the music and enemy AI is supurb.The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is that there are a few downsides. On the PS3 version, the graphics are downscaled, leaving some things in the HUD hard to read. Also, there are no subtitles, and the voiceovers aren’t crisp, meaning I had to turn the voice volume WAY up and the other sound effects WAY down in order to hear what people were saying. The final disappointment is that the overall story is very interesting, but many of the characters are underdevelped and seem a bit dry.All in all, though, the downsides are minor, and this game was a real thrill. Overall this is a very fun, unique shooter that I definitely would recommend.
I bought the PC version a year or so ago. Started to play this scary game and then a few days later my computer crashed (for other reasons). I gave away my copy to my brother, since I no longer had a PC. Next I bought a copy for the PS3. Indeed the graphics do appear crappy compared to other versions. I quickly forgot about this because the gameplay is quite unique and captivating. Definitely a scary game with a fun story. The slowMo feature is a lot of fun too, you end up using it to get out of tight situations and makes you feel like someone from the Matrix (bullet time).
I had part 2 and 3 of this game but i could never find part one. i checked on retrolio and i finally found a copy. I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase; This is an action packed horror game which gave me nightmares the first time i played it.
This game is fantastic! The graphics are a little iffy because it was made a few years ago, but the game itself is very fun! With a nice blend of horror and FPS, this game is very entertaining.
I find it hard to believe someone could give this game less than 4 stars.I have a large screen high def tv and a great surround system so my gaming experience might be a little different but i was playing black ps2 and then started on fear and the graphics are way better than ps2. this game is action packed, lots of suspense and definatly rocks. Even the ps2 games look grainy after you play ps3 games. kinda like vhs compared to dvd but blu ray smokes dvd’s. throw in a game like area 51 or splinter cell and then play this game and you will see a huge difference. If you like shooter games i would suggest you pick this one up. If you dont want to pay full price just wait a little after its released and buy it used. I guess i never expect video games to become virtual reality but compared to atari or nintendo i dont think i will ever find a nex generation game thats bad because if it was bad enough for me to give it 1 star they would never release it. Hear there already working on f.e.a.r. 2!!!!!!!
FEAR is one of the most coveted of the PS3 of the FPS genre why? I have no idea.It’s basically a high action-packed shooter that has some supernatural moments.The scenes of the character Alma do add a degree of mystery to the game along with some ghostly elements thrown in.There’s nothing about the game I could say that jumps out and scares the hell out of you,more along the lines of ‘what was that’?The amount of weapons you get in the game is plentiful and the Matrix-like Slow Motion effect is a very nice touch.As for the graphics I have no complaints whatsoever,and I would highly recommend it for any first person shooter fan.Minus 1 star for the lack of depth to the game overall-more ideas could have been put into the first FEAR.
I agree with most bad reviews about graphics and so but I played the whole game and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I didnt find it scary though but the AI is unbelievable ! I would not give it 5 starts but definitely not 1, its a decent game and the price now makes it worth trying.
