This is the best Zombie game Ive played to date. Using real world weapons like broom sticks, pipes, coat racks etc. making your own modifications to weapons that you have with items you find from people’s abandoned luggage and dead bodies is a hot feature. But being able to beat the snot out of a zombie til they fall then taking the heel of your foot and stomp on their head makin a zombie brain cement sandwich is priceless! You can run over zombies with cars you find throughout the island. The only thing that can make this game better is a DLC to add more hours of gameplay. Not to say this a short game, you’ll log in 40+ hours getting to the end of the game. That’s if your not a main quest only player.
This zombie game is everything I expected it to be and more. I love the gameplay, the graphics and the story all align to form a perfect example of horror and action. They really hit the nail on the head with this release. You really care about the character you play and the RPG aspect of the game is flawless. Leveling up is satisfying and crushing a zombie’s head in with a wrench is even more satisfying. I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves zombie, action, horror or someone who just wants to explore a new type of game. Not for kids, this game will take you on a journey through a paradise filled with guts and gore. Action packed and legitimately scary at times, this title will keep you on the edge of your chair for hours. Especially during those dark moments in the game where you have to navigate through the blackness with your flashlight. Very fun, very satisfying and this game has tons of online features to mess around with. I do not currently play online but the co-op looks awesome. If you love zombies, post-apocalyptic adventures and RPGs, this game is for you.
After much building up, this game came out to middling reviews.I will say that as a cooperative experience it’s actually quite great. As opposed to Left 4 Dead, the zombies in this game present a bit more of a challenge. Even three or four are enough to overwhelm you if you’re not prepared.The Game of the Year Edition comes with a few extras, but unless you’re absolutely craving more of the same, I’d say it’s a pass.
What’s great:1. Open world rpg. Don’t feel like questing? No problem! Walk around, explore, kill things, hang out in the arena, grab a truck and run zombies down. It’s just too fun. I was exploring the jungle and found a crazy guy with an alter and a chainsaw. The chainsaw was ridiculously fun considering it didn’t do much but nick stuff up. Chainsaw patina, anyone?2. Female characters to play. I’m sick to death of being forced to play male characters. As a woman, playing a guy character knocks the fun down a notch or two.3. A variety of side quests, some pretty funny. More champagne, Svetlana?4. A variety of fight moves and interesting talent trees. ‘Nuff said.5. Graphics and sound are exquisite.What’s not great:1. The bugs! There are still some left in the goty edition. Most notably, if you mod your weapon from inventory, it will poof! DOH!! So, always equip your weapon before modding.2. Terrible firearms for Purna. Level 50’s purple and orange firearms generally have poorer stats than their white, “spiteful” counterparts. Sorry, but I like looking at orange and purple in my inventory, and seeing bad stats on rare firearms makes me cross.3. Losing access to the island once I’ve reached the Prison. That’s just annoying, even though I can dupe my character and go back to earlier chapters.All in all, this is still my favorite xbox game. Zombies, open world, humor, great graphics and sound add up to happy xbox goodness.
While Dead Island lacks an intriguing single player, it makes up ten fold with it’s multiplayer. Easy match making is something one hardly finds in a game, and it never hurts to have 3 other friends travel along with you for multiple reasons. The Co-op revival system is extremely handy, especially because if your partner gets to you in time you won’t lose a portion of your money.Also, the Game of The Year Edition includes the 3 DLC for the game. The DLC “Bloodbath Arena” makes for an incredible amount of fun, yet again even more if you play with friends. With 4 arenas for you and your friends to take on enemy hordes, it’s hard to put the controller down.Overall I loved this game when I played the original one, and the Game of The Year Edition makes it even more enjoyable.
So I got my "Dead Island: Game of the Year Edition" a day late… but that’s only because it had to go through a FedEx Smart Post in Massachusetts just a few miles outside of Boston, So I do believe it is self explanatory why my package was late. I’ve waited a few days to review this so that I could play the game a little bit. The thing that had me interested in "Dead Island" in the first place was watching a video of it on YouTube. I remember the person playing the game said it only took him 6 hours of gaming to complete the story line… That threw me off at first but the gameplay looked fun enough to make me eventually order the game. When I started playing the game I was taken back by the amount of detail that was put into the graphics. Absolutely amazing! in my opinion. the sound quality was also quite terrifying to listen to in the dark. (I’m partially deaf, so I wear wireless Sony headphones when watching TV/playing a game so I can hear it better). The sounds of the screaming undead had me nearly wetting my pants and certain times. (I’m not one who scares easy, especially if it’s just a video game).So, I’ll start my review of the game here. The story line of the game is fantastic and very interesting at the same time. It starts off with the main character. (One of four playable characters the player can choose from, and also a bonus character can be chosen) who has just awoken in his/her hotel room after a rambunctious night of heavy drinking, and pill.
The gameplay is somewhat short I was actually surprised how fast I finished it but the game is fun though especially after you complete the game and you restart with your characters stats already up and with their weapon SOMEWHAT SPOILER ALERT: don’t give the girl that stores stuff your very important weapons to store in the end of the game maybe 90% of completion
Very fun exciting game the side quest are not boring and are attention grabbing. There are many different locations to go and quest. There is a good atmosphere of loneliness but at first i was terrified of playing because about every 1 minute you would hear screeching and see a zombie running at you. So i would play this game at night to get i the feel of it. I dont know about multiplayer since i play alone. But the games is very fun has a good story and is never repetitive or boring.
I don’t like horror: not games, not movies, not books. This game drew me in spite of the aforementioned fact, as well as its flaws.Set on a tropical island, the four playable characters(each with different strengths but not really different story lines) awake one morning to chaos in the resort hotel they are staying in. The inevitable zombie outbreak occurs, and our heroes, discovering they are immune to the contagion that causes otherwise normal, law abiding people to become mindless cannibals, must struggle to save themselves as well non-immune survivors.The atmosphere of the game is the best part. One of the first missions has you going through a darkened hotel with only your flashlight and the emergency lights to illuminate the threatening darkness. It really put your nerves on edge to be carefully creeping along and then suddenly seized, with no real warning by one of the unliving in a deadly embrace. Good, appropriate music helps to establish atmosphere as well. The sounds effects were great, the various screaming, moaning, and roaring of the undead in particular adding more tension. Every so often you hear thunder as the approaching monsoon warns of its coming.The graphics were more than adequate. Not amazing, but the tropical island appropriately has its beautiful blue water and white sand beaches of the resort, the bloody swimming pools with dead bodies in them, the trash strewn slum, and the dark cells of the prison, among others.Gameplay was unbalanced: fai.
This is a really great game, I love how you can choose your character based their weapon-of-choice-category. One character uses firearms, one uses sharp objects, one blunt objects and i cannot remember the other. Depending on which you choose, the weaponry found around the map changes. The story line is great and the graphics are good. It is challenging but not impossible. If you like games with zombies or killing this game is a good choice.
