Taking place between the second and third movie in the motion picture trilogy, Enter the Matrix features a mixture of gunplay and martial arts that bends the rules. This game isn’t just set in the Matrix universe–it’s an integral part of the entire Matrix experience. Enter the Matrix is the story-behind-the-story and features slo-mo bullet time effects, never-before-seen live-action footage starring the cast of the movies, and plenty more.

After having this game on pre-order for weeks at the local game shop. And waiting 2 years after it was announced to finally get my hands on this. All I can say is WOW. This game finally breaks the taboo of bad movie-game translations. And gets most everything right.Alot of people criticize this game based on the fact that the graphics arent great? I didnt see this as much of a problem. The graphics are adaquet and do the job well. Bullets actually damage the environment and shards of the walls fly around and what not rally adding to the overall coolness of the game. The controls are my only problem. Had they adopted more of a first person shooter style control scheme(a la halo maybe) I think it would have worked alot better. Dont get me wrong the controls are nice and do the job well. They just could have been better. And of course the “focus” ability.. Gimmick or useful? I frankly found it very useful. And being able to do cart wheels, and dives to dodge incoming bullets has saved my life more then once. Max Payne was the first game to use bullet time. But enter the matrix does a far better job. You can even see the bullet contrails like in the movie.Overall I found this game to be extremely fun and worthy of my [money]. If your looking for a solid action title, where you can kick ass and look cool. Do yourself a favor and pick this title up.
This has got to be one of the more fun games I have ever played. If you have ever been a sci-fi fan, if you have ever seen The Matrix, this game is a must. The fun factor alone is worth having this game. Like any other licensed game there are some drawbacks.First the finer points of the game. Good graphics and rendering give this game a good start. Sound effects are sharp as can be (after a fashion). Game play, while no longer unique, is very fun and engaging. There are several levels that flow well enough. There is a hacking program that you can use to access different parts of the game. Once you beat the game there is a one on one fighting mode. (You need two controllers plugged in to access it). That being said there are some down sides. The visuals of the game are not always up to par with the movies. The game can echo during some of the cut scenes. Some save points are to close while others are to far apart. Due to the release date the game has a rushed feeling to it. I personally believed it would have benefited from some more development to polish out the bugs. Other than that it is a great action game I will recommend, ESPECIALLY if you’re a Matrix fan.
I use to love this when I was a kid. It was one of the first games I bought on XBOX and it was definitely one of the few games that got me hooked on gaming. I bought this a few weeks ago from my local pawn shop but it was glitchy as all hell because some dirt bag put in hack codes and destroyed it’s functionality. The PS2 graphics are a little blocky but it’s nothing that wasn’t expected.
This game is incredible. You start off as either Niobe or Ghost, two members of a small team of rebels against the matrix, much like (if you saw the first movie) the team of Morpheous, Neo, Trinity, and others. You’re sent on a number of missions, from retreiving a package in a post office to planting a bomb. During these missions you are able to, like in the movie, move in slow motion as you perform supernatural aerobics and kung-fu. Running on walls, dodging bullets, cartwheeling while shooting, and jumping across buildings are some of the many things you can do while in slow-motion, called “using your focus” in the game. If you play this game on easy mode with one character, it may seem a bit short for you, but there’s still secrets to unlock and harder settings to play with that will keep you interested for a long period of time. I highly recommend this game to anybody who liked the Matrix.
Never has a movie based game been as good as Enter the Matrix. This has very fast paced kung-fu fights, awsome looking slow-motion gunfights, sweet car chases, and adenline-pumping agent encounters. It also has an hour of exclusive footage done with actors from The Matrix: Reloaded and has very close ties with the movie. You cant fully understand the movie without this game, and you cant understand alot of this game without also seeing the movie. The action is uncomparable to any other game on the market of that genre, unlike most action games where you go through each level shooting everything, here you can get up close and do complicated and fast disarm moves and unleash a devistaing series of punches kicks. The focus(Bullet Time) move has never before been used so well in a game. In Max Payne, you could barely see the bullets fly through the air, but in Enter the Matrix they are big, shiny, and leave a trail of soundwaves behind them, making it an awsome experience to dodge them or fire them. Also, when using focus you can run faster, jump inhumanly long distances, run up walls and 360 kick someone of of it, and do many other special moves not available in regular speed. The car chases are not quite as good as those in a James Bond game, but are still pretty good. The interactivity with the enviroment is the thing that stands out from all the other car chases in video games: Streetsigns fall when shot at, those annoying “Your speed is ____, the speed limit is ____” signs e.
I just picked this up yesterday, along with the strategy guide from BradyGames. Wow! I’m really enjoying playing this game. The extra video filmed for the game is great. For me, the game is a real challenge, and while I won’t repeat what others have already written here, I have one recommendation:BUT THE STRATEGY GUIDE! Its a must. It is really a beautiful, rich, and colorful guide to help you play the game. I would have been lost with out it. …
This game is not worth the price sought by most vendors. I purchased this game about a week ago. Though the game is very realistic, has some awesome graphics, and cool moves, it gets boring quick. Buyer beware, this game requires a PlayStation 2 memory should you want to save your progress.Final word, rent it first, than buy it used from retrolio.com or your local video store.
So, I got the game along with the official strategy guide. And started playing as ghost (he just looked better to start with). Although being the super fan that I am of the ‘The Matrix’, I was a little upset when first starting. But after seen the movie twice, the plot pulled me in. After playing for a while, i decided to try the hack program. WOW! It had me going from 11:30pm till 6:15am. You might say "insane". But, I got so many thing figured out with the help of the Strategy guide (note: the guide inter-acts with the game as does the game does with the movie). Decoding hidden codes hidden in the guide will make you figure stuff out. You can get to a point that you talk to Trinity. Plus after alot of work (like i did) you can unlock a rad worth wild feature….. Wishing for multi player!?!?!?! Well even though the game says one player you can get it!!! It’s just fighting, but you and your friends will have a blast!!!! Just know it will take a while, but you will get alot of stuff, and unlock alot of things.
I just bought the PS2 version and it is one of the best 3rd person games I’ve ever played, coming in just behind Grand Theft Auto. The bullet time fight scenes are second to no other game out there. Even the real time fighting sequences are very well done. I’m not very far into the game yet, so I’m not sure if you can learn new combat moves or not? The movie quality is outstanding, comparable to watching a DVD. I’ve read that sometimes this game locks up when using bullet time, but so far I’ve had no problems. If you are a Matrix fan, or a fan of 3rd person video games, you should not be without this one for long.
I rented this game and when I played it I was like “holy —– this game is awesome.”The best feature of the game has to be focus. When you use focus you can dodge bullets, run of walls, jump alot farther and other cool moves.Another cool feature is that this game goes along with the movie. For example in the game ghost and niobe get an important letter from a postoffice and in the movie you see niobe hand morpheus a letter. The actors from the movie actually shot scenes for the game. The only problem I had with this game is in the first level some parts take about 20 seconds and then it has to load. That really didn’t happen in the rest of the game.I think this is an awesome game and you should definatly check it out.
