I love the graphics on this game, and the storyline is really fun to play. It’s fairly simple to get the controls understood and to play, and the actual game is a lot of fun to work though. One part that’s a little complex is a few of the camera angles make maneuvering weird and hard to do, but that’s a minor thing. The game’s post apocalyptic green areas are so gorgeous you’ll want to go back through them again!
It’s not difficult to imagine that Enslaved began as a concept for a CGI movie before becoming a fully realized next-gen game. The voicework and motion capture of Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings – Gollum) takes center stage, ultimately delivering a highly enjoyable cinematic journey that does not attempt to redefine the platforming or action-adventure genres. Although there are a few small problems that keep the game from reaching critical acclaim, Ninja Theory realizes that many of todays gamers are looking to purchase a game they can watch as much as play. Some videogames like the Uncharted series tread this line masterfully and offer a rich story that continually puts you in the action. Enslaved often feels like it is on auto-mode in an attempt to keep you enticed by the narrative, frequently guiding you throughout platforming sections and giving you simple actions to repeat for boss fights. However, the game ultimately earns its credibility by reassuring gamers why they play games at all: to have fun. Enslaved may not be perfect, but if you enjoy action adventure games and sci-fi films then the west will amaze you.NEGATIVES:-This game has a few bugs in the CGI realm. When first introduced to the character “Piggy” the dialogue cuts out for about 15 seconds during a cut scene. Characters can splice in and out of the background during a few short cut scenes as well. To the game’s credit, I was actually able to overlook this drawback without letting it seriously impact th.
I was skeptical about this game at first but I took the plunge and I don’t regret it. The graphics are beautiful, very colorful and vibrant. Gameplay is standard action-platformer fare with some good combat and straightforward (but very few)puzzles. Storytelling on the other hand is a cut above most other action games and the facial animations accurately portray the characters feelings. I don’t have much negatives to say about the game except that on one occasion i had some lip syncing issues…. oh and collecting tech orbs are a pain in the butt. Overall I am pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it, even more so at the bargain price its currently offered at.
This game had the puritanial of making my A LIST of games but it just fell short. It just had too many camera angles and glitche problems. At times I would have to start over from my last save and thankfully I was not ever far along in the chapter and did not have to redo much. I am not a big time gamer and it already takes me a while longer to get the job done the first time. Where this game shines is in the story. That is how it got me to keep going way into the wee hours of the morning. The ending was not bad but could have been better I think. As far as video games go, the story is one of the better ones. It was taken in part from a book so I guess that is why. The company that made this game also made Heavenly Sword, which is my all time favorite game and this is not bad but in no way as good as that one in my opinion. All in all, I like games that have good storylines, good graphics and good game play this game had two out of three so it is still a keeper for me. Especially for 25.00 with free shipping. Thanks retrolio.I give this game 3 STARS for game play and 4 STARS for story.
Flawed but fun! The highlights of this game are the story and voice characterization which kept me interested throughout regardless of the jittery frame-rates and jumpy gameplay. While you do not gather new weapons you can upgrade the powers you do have, as well as boosting endurance and health. Being able to regenerate without health packs can be crucial in the later chapters so be sure to upgrade that at some point. The battles are entertaining clashes with "Mechs" and other, much larger robotic behemoths. Each "Mech" has strengths and weaknesses and remembering what to do against each, even with a large variety closing in, is part of the strategy. While most of the battles occur as close-quarters melee, many others require more thought and speed and time to accomplish. I just finished the game, all fourteen chapters, plus a final "Epilogue" cut-scene section, and I am buzzed. The final boss battle is epic! That is not to say the other battles are inferior but after the action-packed opening sequence all that follow are a slow build-up to the final, exhausting conclusion. The opening sequence is both a tutorial and a great set piece to start the game and is one of my favorite openings to a game since "Uncharted 2". However, the flaws of this game bring it down a notch with the animations fluttering occasionally, breaking the story immersion, and the hand-to-hand combat can be so hectic at times you may lose your place and the locat.
I got the game for $20 on PS3, so I give it 4 stars for its value. however the game itself is just okStory: the ending is quite unexpected I have to say, but the whole plot is not very impressive. the game is quite like uncharted series, you got some followers throughout the game, but story is still quite sloppy compared to the uncharted 1 & 2. the length of the game is long enough for this type of game, however most of the chapters are repetitive.Gameplay: The camera is a fail for the game. Sometimes your view is strictly limited which cause lots of difficulties for control. the gameplay itself is good, but still nothing new compared to other mainstream action game(climbing, platforming, combat)Graphics: Graphics is really good for this game. The models for the characters are well made and some of views of the wasteland is pretty impressive. I dont like some of the art designs especially for protagonist – Monkey who looks like a gorilla rather than a monkey. you know in the original novel ‘journey to the west’ the protagonist is really a monkeyOverall: if you like the uncharted series, this game is worth a try. But dont expect you will get same gaming experiences as uncharted games
Enslaved is roughly based on the original story, Journey to the West. While the game doesn’t copy the book it uses the overlying plot to drive the storyline. A solid storyline, with simple…fun gameplay mechanics makes for a journey well worth taking…**Gameplay: Enslaved gameplay is like mixing Uncharted mechanics w/ a high quality storyline presentation like a Metal Gear game. The difference is neither gameplay aspect is overly polished and can come across almost simplistic. Jumping mechanics is simply handled by the jump button and a direction, with Monkey making insane leaps but this works well. The response and handling of your acrobatics is fluid but requires very little more than pushing a button. Your combat mechanics are basic at best which can be a good thing. Instead of hitting you with 10,000 combos like Bayonetta / DMC … or even say 20 like God of War; you are given basically “two” light x2 then heavy light x3 then heavy that’s about it. Combat ends up being very simplistic and once you upgrade your staff you will pretty much just point and kill enemies before even fighting them hand to hand. **This is a good thing however for the game. It focuses less on combat mechanics and more about allowing you to just enjoy being ‘monkey’ and enjoy the storyline. You don’t need to rack up a 200 hit combo to take out an enemy.**Sound/Story: Storyline is outstanding. A very simple retelling of a great book (Journey to the West) with some noticeable change.
Played the demo way back when it came out, and never bought the game. I could not pass up $7.95 with free shipping. Not only did I order on 2/15, BUT I RECEIVED THE GAME 2/18. I was so happy it came Saturday so I dis not have to wait until Monday. retrolio shipped pretty much same day I ordered, very very happy. This game so far is awesome, I just started chapter 3, and I have way much more to go. The graphics are amazing so far, and I do not notice any problem with the controls and people are saying the controls are not good. I see no issue with the controls. Thanks for such a great deal retrolio.
Well this game is a bit annoying wile you are looking for orbs (collectibles) the lady enslaving you kills you if you get to far from the path. Once you die you have to recollect the ones you just got (unless you reach a check point). All in all this is a great game with a few twist, an turns. I received this game 4 days early :)
Pretty good game, not great, I got it on sale for $25 so it was easily worth that. Team Ninja has a great Motion Capture department and the cinematics in this game are fantastic. Story and characters are also good. Combat isn’t amazing but it does feel unique as Monkeys staff pings off of the metallic mechs. There are some fun upgrades as well. All in all if you get this game for $40 or less you will most likely be satisfied.
