This is a fantastic RPG that forces you to be sensible with battles and strategic with rations. The fighting system is good but IMO could be tweaked a bit. I personally find it annoying that I can sneak up on an enemy and shoot him in the back with an arrow only to have him and his allies immediately realize where I shot from. I wish he would remain dazed for a second or two until he actually saw me. The only other reason to knock a star off is the lack of explanation within the game. There are hundreds if not thousands of items to pick up and use. The trouble is, you have no idea what many of them will do. There are rather vague descriptions, i.e. a bottle of wine will cause you more fatigue and detract from your dexterity. Why the heck would I pick that up??In any event, this is a huge game with a huge map. The variety of weapons, armor, shields, magic spells and enemies is excellent. Definitely an enjoyable game despite the slight combat flaws and lack of explanation.
A great game. The world is wonderfully designed with rational rules and reactions just like the real world. It’s not like all those other RPGs where you could walk in people’s houses and take their stuff, and they wouldn’t even notice you were there if you didn’t talk to them. The character design is pretty detailed and customizable. The only thing I don’t like is that once you pick a class, you’re stuck. I’m the kind of person where it’s hard for me to make decisions like that. I’d rather not have classes, or have a variable class system that can change as your abilities do, or maybe the ability to take a secondary class. Anyway, there’s plenty of stuff to do in the world. It’s very easy to loose track of time while you play because it’s so detailed.
although it renders only at 720p, the visuals in this game are very promising of what’s to come on the ps3. not much to say about the game itself as it’s been out on pc for awhile now. a great quest based game.
Really loved this game – took me a bit to get into it, but now I am hooked!!! Loved RPGs and new to the PS3, so it took me a bit to get used to the joysticks, but I love this game! So many options, great stories and subquests, lots of great items and great gameplay. The graphics are awesome!
Don’t start unless you have a lot of time… Really enjoyed this game…. did "Archer Thief". It took me about 250 hours to complete…
great game for the time it was made. Be warned if you have the option of PS3 or Xbox version go with the xbox it just has more dlcs.
If you’re a fan of Fallout 3, then Elder Scroll Oblivion is the way to go. Instead of a modern world, bombed out, you’ve got a lush wilderness to explore either on foot or on horseback. I can’t say more for the game than other reviews before me.However, I sure wish I’d read one thing. This doesn’t contain the Shivering Isles expansion pack like the game of the year edition. So if you’re like me and you find that you really like the game, you’ve got to either a) fork over $30 for the download on the PlayStation Network or just buy the right edition. Frankly, there’s only a $10 difference between versions so it’s worth taking a shot on the GOTY edition just in case you fall head over heels in love with the game.All I can say is that there are HOURS and HOURS of game play in here. Definitely a great buy! Highly recommend!!!!
They really should have left the system alone, as the only thing I really appreciated their doing to the structure of Oblivion was facilitating easy Fast Travel. If you can’t top a great game everyone loved, just imitate it… This game has all of the ridiculous and prim dialogue of Morrowind with cleaner, more pastel visuals – their only foil being boring, incessant jaunts into “Oblivion” (i.e. Hell).Wait, see, this is what I’m talking about! Because the game is in the series and highly reminiscent of Morrowind, you just nit pick. I still played this game for probably OVER 60 hours (at 50 hours I become embarrassed about such things). I thought it was a great game. I never finished the main storyline, but as a sandbox I highly recommend it. It’s just not as good as its predecessor, and will always be remembered as a disappointment.
I really enjoy playing the game!! The cinematography is breath-taking, not to mention the music!!! Sometimes brings tears to my eyes!!!!
The product arrived right in the middle of the specified dates. No problems at all and I’ve been playing this game a lot. The only downside was no manual which can be key with a game so in-depth as this one. However, for the price, that detail can be overlooked as this game is a heck of a lot of fun. If you are a fan of fallout 3 this is a must buy. I’ve already logged 65 hours and I’m no where near wanting to put it down!
