If you’re the right age to have been an eight to twelve year old boy the first time you saw “The Sandlot,” the name Wendy Peffercorn will forever be impressed on your mind.Although the film is far more than just about “Squints” obsession with the lifeguard at the local pool, the scenes involving Miss Peffercorn were certainly some of the most memorable. There’s also James Earl Jones as an old, blind former professional baseball player who knew Babe Ruth when he was young! And of course the meanest junkyard dog that ever has been.
My 14 year old grandson’s favorite baseball movie. It’s really not so much about baseball as it life lessons. Very entertaining. Most importantly we enjoyed it together. He’s at age where he doesn’t much like being around adults. He’s still a nice kid though. I’ll be happy when he gts through puberty though.
Favorite movie from my childhood! Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez was like an motivator to me growing up, where I felt like “Smalls”. Nowadays, with all of this change in technology, and interests of the children of today, I encourage parents to show their kids movies like this : )
I have always hated baseball but this movie changed my thinking about it.
My boys love this movie, we love quoting it. I forgot it does have some bad language.
The Sandlot (1993) Tom Guiry, Mike Vitar, Patrick Renna, James Earl jones, Karen AllenRated PG.Tagline: They’re more than a team. They’re the best buddies in the entire history of the world. It’s rare to find a family movie about the innocence of childhood. This film takes place in the summer of 1962. A new kid on the block encounters local kids playing a baseball game of sorts in a dusty sandlot and he wants to fit it but doesn’t know how to go about it.Not much plot to speak of as this film is about kids being kids, in a time gone by. A time when a boy’s mind was occupied by thoughts of fresh, cool lemonade and being able to catch pop flies and rocketing infield grounders, and learning to make friends, and even noticing girls.Summer plus baseball equals adventure. And friendship. All summers should be like this. This film is an undiscovered classic. Well worth owning a copy.
This movie is a right of passage, I saw this movie in the theater when it came out, and its always been a favorite. I could hardly wait to watch it with my kids who are eight years old.If you have not seen this I highly recommend it, one or two cuss words and "The Kiss" with Wendy are the only concerns for parents. Other than that this movie has a great message. My kids have watched at least 10 times.
Cute movie. My boys never seen it and DIDN’T want to watch it. I put it on anyways…And within 6 minutes it got the 6 year old attention…Then the 10 year old got interested and now both wont stop using the lines…."You’re killing me Smalls!" Fun wholesome movie for boys.
My son loves this move, a great kid movie!!
Loved the movie. Never saw the whole movie or remembered the title. Glad I made the purchase
