Very well written story, expansive adventure, and reminds me a little of Neverwinter Nights. I love the companion mechanic. I only wish character creation had more variety and followed D&D a little more closely.
CRPG’s do not need to be innovative. The basic concept of “run from place to place to get cool stuff for my avatar and give him or her cool abilities” has worked since Wizardry and Bard’s Tale. That’s fortunate, because Throne of Agony does not offer innovation. What it does have is many, many hours of hack-and-slash gameplay in a surprisingly large world for a handheld game. The interface allows considerable control of your character’s inventory, stats, and gameplay; and the graphics look quite good considering the platform. If you already know that you enjoy this style of gameplay, then there is no reason not to buy Throne of Agony. It will give you a polished, fun fix of “just a few more skeletons and I get my level” gameplay.
I recently purchased Dungeon Siege Throne of Agony because I’ve been looking for a western hack and slash RPG games for the PSP. There are many Japanese RPGs but I don’t have the patience with turn based anime games. Dungeon Siege did not disappoint. The graphics are admittedly average in my opinion. You can see copied tiles of grass over and over as well as plenty of jagged edges. The previously mentioned issue is more than compensated by the excellent gameplay and character skill development. You get to choose from three standard classes, archer, warrior, wizard. Having chosen archeress I really enjoyed the options given o me each time I leveled up. The skills range from passive defensive skills to offensive skills that use mana. On the screen they look like very detailed attack moves that co e with nice lights and fire effects. You also can have a companion congrolled by the AI , as you find more followers they become usable as companions. There is strategy here as well since to level up the characters and give them new and advanced skills you have to spend gold, so don’t try to level everyone at once. The menus and item management is made possible really well. There are tons of standard clothes, weapos, artifacts, and other items. Before picking you can press a button to compare with your current used item. Inside the inventory it’s easy to manage the items and get optimal profit when you sell what you don’t need.Audio and music in the game in the game are excellent. I beli.
Finally managed to get a copy of this! If you are a fan of the ‘Diablo’ series of games, then this one won’t disappoint. A familiar interface and gameplay, while enhancing on the experience. It goes to show that Diablo (Diablo 3 even) would port well to the PSP console system if done right! This will tide me over until Diablo 3 is released, highly recommend this game!
I am a fantasy RPG junkie and found that in spite of some minor drawbacks this game kept my attention and provided the distractions I need from day to day pressure. I have enjoyed all the DS series and will try to play any others that come out. Anyone know about similar games – prefer thrird persopn perspective – let me know.
The storyline is solid enough to be on a computer game and the graphics are up to par. The music is the outstanding and came out straight out of the dungeon siege original computer game. I really do enjoy playing this game the only problem I have, and believe me when I say it is not a major issue, is the loading time during multiplayer. Very nice buy, and one I do not regret. I will probably finish this game with each one of the 3 characters included. Extremely easy to pick up on the run and do a quest or two between patients.
I bought this game a few days ago without knowing anything about it or any of DS game and I’m very impressed with the level (and quality) of the detail. This game is leaps and bounds better than any other game of its kind for the PSP to-date. I compare the graphics quality to that of Samurai Warriors: State of War, which is a very good thing. I enjoy the leveling process as well. There are tons of items to find including weaponry, potions, armor, jewelry, and quest items. Plus they even gave us incantation shrines to help boost abilities for a short period before each big quest. The gameplay is very simple and fun and leveling is quite easy to do and you can do it on the fly as you’re playing by simply pressing the Select button. If you don’t have this game already you need to go out and get it today!
had everything. good condition.
I bought DS:TOA on a whim and it turned out to be quite a good choice. Good character devlopment, leveling up skills as well as attributes with 3 base classes to choose from. The plot is average in terms of content with some voice acting. It held my interest all the way through, and has some replay value, at least once with each of the 3 classes. In general, I found the melee attack types to be more convienent and user-friendly than using magic.I have two major complaints, though nether deal with the game itself. The first is load times. I have about 2 dozen PSP games and this is easily in the top 3 for worst load times. Every time you enter or exit the world map and several times in longer dungeons. This becomes prohibitively annoying. The second is freezing. I had a brand new copy of the game and several dozen times the game would lock up while loading, rebooting the PSP and loosing everything till my last save. Mighty annoying. All in all, a good game well suited to the PSP platform.
Nice action game with a lot to offer with graphics, gameplay, and replayability, the edge is a little dark in this role playing game so youngsters should steer clear.
