I actually liked this one. The combat is more action based which I don’t mind since the player is more involved in the fight. The graphics took a SMALL step DOWN for some odd reason but it shouldn’t be a problem IF you enjoy the game and great storytelling with appealing characters. I despise the potion recharge per character and the slow recharge of the healing magic which makes it annoying instead of challenging. The armor and weapons are so RESTRICTIVE this time around too. You can only play as human which is a let down but all the classes are available. The "rise from a lowly refugee to a prominent person" story is great. I don’t mind being an errand boy/girl at all as saving the world is so cliche. Question: WHY ALTER THE LOOK OF THE DARKSPAWN AND THE QUNARI?? Looking at these two species is WORSE than the sub par graphics to be honest. Good game none the less.
I’m about half way in and I’m enjoying the experience overall, but there are many design flaws, and odd choices that keep me from giving this game a higher score, which I would probably rate at 7/10.Pros:1) Graphics are lovely. Improved over the last one. Character and area designs are nice.2) Some likable characters. All have good voice actors, and while the personalities may be up to personal taste I though they were mostly good. I like Varric and Merrill the most, myself.3) Companion uniqueness. I thought this was a big upgrade over DA:O. Each character now has their own unique skill group to go along with their class specific skill groups. As well as getting a passive effect for being your friend or your rival.4) Ability trees improved. Things are much more open in this game, more choices, more abilities.5) Companion relationship improved. It’s more than just dumping gifts on them now. Your actions are the main factor in getting characters to like or dislike you, which some may not think is an upgrade but I personally do.6) Runes are simpler than before, but I think its an improvement over all. The efficacy of your runes now depends on the item they are attached to rather than the rune itself. So the rune you have in act one will be the same rune in act 3, but will have a better effect because the items you set them in are improved. No more useless +1 fire damage etc, runes.Cons:1) Exploration: Don’t expect much. Well to be more exact expect to re-explore co.
Only crashed once or twice during the entire month of play. 1000 times better than prior version Origins. Still could not figure out the Tactics screen but this time they made that more optional. Screens load way faster. Save games actually save this time. Still there are some marker issues where the current quest does not show up on the map until you have gotten to within a few feet of it’s location. But that is OK when it’s location is specified in the journal, which it mostly but not always is in this version. As far as the graphics it is mostly better but there were issues like things in the foreground blocking your view and too many enemies making it impossible to see the action and effects of hits sort of exploding making it impossible to see the damage occurring. Also the difference between difficulty settings of "casual" and "normal" can be cavernous making it either too easy or too hard with no in-between. But it was totally playable and even enjoyable in complete contrast to it’s predecessor.
A huge graphics improvement and I enjoyed this game. Only complaint are the deceptive and very repetitive recycling of maps. I really enjoyed the story and gameplay. I think this is a series that just gets progressively better over time. It plays like the best open world RPGS out there but with a unique spin on developing relationships with your travel companions. You’re going to get a lot of disagreement on player preferences but I think this series is still vastly flexible for a variety of RPG fans and I loved it enough to play the DLC.
This is the Dragonage game that took leaps, & bounds above the previous ones, but honestly after playing Dragonage Inquisition, the one after this, which is FAR better in every way, & easily one of the all time best single player RPGs, It’s a little hard to play this one, but graphics aside, it is still awesome, & one to get if You’re a dragonage book, movie, anime, or game fan, & haven’t played this one yet!
Very good with improved fighting style. Having Isabella back in here is awesome. Using her with her dual knife fighting, this is talking really thrashing the bad guys. Good graphic, good characters interaction. Good missions. The missions on here are what you could expect to be similar to Assassin Creed style. I didn’t like the cameo. Zevran looks different than on Origin, but voice is the same. Same with Alistar, he looks a bit different. The only ones that fits and look similar are the Templar, Cullen, who is now a Knight Captain. Bodahn and Sandals fits from Origin. Nathaniel from Awakening has same voice, but also look different. Leliana also has same voice, no resemblence from Origin. Anders is a totally different guy, definitely not the same guy that he is supposed to be from Awakening. Overall, still very good game. can’t wait to dive into the new Inquisition!!
I played this game as a rogue, warrior, and mage just to experience the differences in the battle techniques. I really enjoyed the battle engine of this game much more than DAO. The family story line running through the background was a nice change, and really added to the overall DA story line between the Templars and Mages, by having you chose who to support – your brother or sister. However, I missed being able to select between the races when creating my character.I’m looking forward to DA3. I’d like to see them bring DAO and DA2 together by allowing me to import a character from either game.
Good game
I loved the first one and other bioware games like the Mass Effect series.I think if you liked the game play of the first you’ll like this one because it’s very similarIf you liked the game politics this one has those to with the witty banter of your companions it makes dealing with the in game politics much more funIf you like games revolving more around storyline with plenty of action like other bioware games you can’t go wrong with this one
Loved this game! Super fun rpg. I am a casual gamer and am relatively picky about the games I play.My husband bought me origins to start with and I thought it was decent. Within a minute of playing this game I was hooked. Very fun to play and easy to learn the controls. I think it took me about 3 weeks to go through. I played every night, even if I only had an hour! Highly recommend it to any level of gamer.
