This game was not only fun but difficult at times on the increasingly more difficult levels. It was a great thing to replay to post better leaderboards than my friends. haha take that! I would recomend this to anyone old enough not to be scarred by the mature theme and tones.
I am one those people who was upset upon seeing this game’s first trailer. I like Ninja Theory and their game Heavenly Sword, but I was not impressed by the way they changed Dante. Because of that and because Capcom has cheated me in the past, I didn’t buy on day one. But now that the price has dropped I have gone through it and this is what I feel.*************************PROS************************************-Story: This is the strongest point. I know most fans don’t care but I have always wanted a good story in DMC game. I have to say while I really want Capcom to finish the original DMC story, this DMC has the best story and story telling so far. Just loved it. I would give this game a five star just for its story and the action.-Heck&Slash Action: DMC3 is still the king when it comes to Heck&Slash action, but the action in this game is not bad either. I loved the wide variety of combos you can perform with Angel and Demon weapons. It is also easy to switch between the weapons so no complains here.-Characters: This is where Ninja Theory shines. They are really good at designing and giving life to characters. This is why I loved Heavenly Sword and was able to tolerate Enslaved. This studio is really good at making unique characters with memorable persona. Bravo Ninja Theory.-Moves video tutorial: I am happy they decided to keep this feature (basically short videos showing each moves). It is important for average player such as myself so I know if I am pulling out a move.
I bought this for my husband, who loves Devil May Cry. He played it the night it came in and beat it. Now he goes back and plays it. Even my 2 sons play it and love it.
Brand spanking new works great
First off, I’ve been a huge fan of series since it came out and his been one of my favorite series. I was a bit skeptical at first of this new title especially since the original devs weren’t working on that and I was already dissapointed with DMC4.Enter Ninja Theory’s rep, they made Heavenly Sword and Enslaved which I really enjoyed. I figured they at least had a background for good hack n slash and good story/characters so why not? When I first loaded up DMC I felt the style from the get go, the intro is classic and when we see Dante from the start I feel like this is truly DMC back and ready for another go.Presentation: Through the roof, honestly every aspect is covered, great graphics/design, characters were interesting, plot was a vast improvement from previous entries. Dante is an interesting character and I am glad we get to see this side of him, one more grounded in reality and a backstory we learn which is somewhat similar to DMC1. Everything mixes together well, the environments, the music, combat all to form a tight enjoyable experience.Gameplay: The core to any DMC game is the combat and this game not only had great design but it may very well be my favorite for any game of this kind. Numerous upgrades, changing weapons on the fly to make an amazing amount of possible combos, each weapon is unique and a welcome addition. The way you mix between angel/demon weapons to take on certain enemies is a nice touch because not only does it add variety but also a welcome cha.
I had my doubts when they said they were doing a reboot for Devil May Cry and that Capcom would be employing another company to do co-production with them, mostly because I loved the original games and I didn’t want them to mess up a good series. However, I was pleasantly surprised and instantly fell in love with this new "Dante." Not sure how I feel about the half demon, half angel bit, but I’ll get used to it eventually. :)
The visuals and controls make this reboot a treat to play. I played on “Human” mode and was actually able to beat it. I’ve been playing through the original games again, and though I beat the first two games years ago and gave up on the third and fourth, I’m having trouble getting through all of them now. They either got harder or I got dumber. This game, however, was easy to beat, and I actually want to play through again with my upgrades in order to get all the Achievements. “DMC” is a beautiful game with great controls and imaginative level designs. I love the funhouse style of the first level; it puts me in a Halloween mood. The upside-down world was as dizzying as it was beautiful. Overall, I had fun with it and recommend it to those familiar with and new to the series.
Ok, to say that people are resistant to change would be like saying the Uwe Boll is a moron. You already know this crap. When contemplating the hate this game gets because of the new Dante, I strangely keep thinking of one line from the PIXAR movie Ratatouille: ‘…but there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations…’ and while this game is far from perfect when concerning the story, it is a truly enjoyable 3D brawler and one of the better ones I’ve played this year. When thinking from a perspective from outside the franchise, the mechanics are fluent, dialogue funny (if for the wrong reasons) and boss fights enjoyable. It houses tons of replayability and customization. I recommend it to those who enjoy 3D brawlers, and were wondering about getting into the DMC franchise.

Being a newcomer to the series i was expecting a great hack n slash and thats exactly what this game is. I thought it would be something similar to Ninja Gaiden and it was. The story is very easy to understand and the combat system works flawlessly with the gameplay. At first the game was kind of intimidating because the surroundings just gave off a very creepy vibe, but once u play it for awhile u become desensitized and its just the norm. I still have yet to get a SSS combo because im such a newb at the game, but eventually ill get there. The only thing i would want more is the length of the story. It took me just a little over 10 hours to be the game on my 1st playthrough. When i play games i want to spend at least 15-20 on the story before doing any side missions or anything like that. Take any Assassin’s Creed game, i’ve easily put over 30 hours on each one with about 20 just on the story alone
