WOW! This was my first thought when I saw how High you can level up. to the 10’s of thousands! this game like it’s ps2 brother has a nearly endless number of things for the “loot mongers” like me out there and soooo much customization it is insane’ top this with actual reasons (such as maxing out character stats) for levelling up into the 9999 range only then is your character’s potential fully unlocked!you also level up your weapons and armor.truly the voice acting is top notch and the hilarity of some of it is really good. as another reviewer said usually there’s pro’s and con’s to every game but at this time even after having beaten disgaea I can not think of ANY bad points about this game.IF you are a loot monger and into twinking out your character to the absolute maxium this game was MADE FOR YOU!if you prefer the intense action of titles such as W.O.W. or diablo this Might not be for you but for anyone that liked Final Fantasy Tactics well, this seems to do all of that FAR BETTER then tactics : war of the lions has done. plus an unlockable etna mode that let’s you find out what would have happened if etna killed laharl. totally as good as the ps2 version with so many bonuses it’s a must have game of the year!Graphics: 5 Stars! very cool anime graphics with a japanese flair (plus cool demons!)Sound: excellent voice acting and humorous dialogue 5 stars!Fun: A Blast! 5 Stars!Ease of play Vs FF Tactics: better learning curve and does not end just as you get addicted actual.
A fairly direct port of the popular PS2 game “Disgaea: Hour of Darkness”, “Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness” mostly keeps things the same, though a few new features are added. The game should be familiar to anyone who has played the original Disgaea, but as a refresher for those who haven’t: Disgaea is a turn-based tactical role playing game. Using a grid system, characters move, attack, and use special abilities. The RPG element comes in as characters improve through battling, compared to the disposable soldiers of many RTS games. There are, furthermore, many classes to choose from, including warriors, mages, and thieves. This is a system seen in games like Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, and many others. For its part, Disgaea brings a lot of elements that are unique to it and its sequel. For example, the RPG system includes not only the effects on the character’s leveling up, but also a teacher/student system that grants abilities to other characters. Geo Symbols, another feature of Disgaea’s combat, are colored pyramids that, when put on certain location types, can give off various effects to connected areas. The ability to lift and throw characters, either as an offensive attack or to give allies a boost in a certain direction, is also present. Units with similar types can use team-up attacks that boost their power when they’re near each other. In Disgaea, you take the role of Laharl, the Prince of the Underworld. After being awoken from a 2-year nap, Laharl finds that hi.
Probably one of the best games I’ve played in years. The PSP version of Disgaea features everything that made the original so amazing, plus plenty of bonus features not found anywhere else. (At least, anywhere other than the DS version, but more on that in a bit)As for getting your bang out of your buck, i’m not sure you’ll ever find a better deal. Disgaea on PSP has enough content to easily last you hundreds of hours of gameplay. It might be a bit repetitive to some, but for fans of strategy RPGs, this game is worth every penny!Last, I’d go so far as to say this is the best version of Disgaea available. While it doesn’t have the playable Plenair character found on the DS version, it does have everything else. In addition, it also looks and sounds a hell of a lot better than it does on DS. (Not to sound like a Sony fanboy, but i’ve tried it on DS. The game does not look good, and the audio grates on my ears) That said, you’re getting the best in video and sound as well as getting the vast majority of extra content available in any Disgaea (1) version.
Great strategy rpg. You can play for a hundred hours and still find new things. Forget going to church, this game is fun!
In the world of turn based strategy games, there are two which sit on top of the pile:Final Fantasy Tactics (the original), and this – Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (the original PS2 version, Hour of Darkness, is just as good as the PSP version, but being mobile allows more gameplay, and you’ll always want to level up another weapon in the item world ;)…)On the surface, this is a tale of a Demon Prince coming of age, but in deeper lies the true message, one of friendship and loyalty, and of always improving oneself to be the best they can be, physically and intellectually, no matter what stands against you.Beyond that simple description, all I can do is emphatically suggest that any readers purchase it. It is side-splittingly hilarious most of the time, and gameplay itself is addictive, and can be as easy or complex as you wish.ITEM WORLD FTW!!!
Disgaea is one of my all time favorite games and this is a must have. The story is funny and at times perverted xD and also the graphics are great! There.are tons of things u must accomplish to beat the game.
I was hesitant to pick this game up, as I’d read so many reviews that highlighted its comedic aspects over its gameplay, but I am happy to say that I do not regret my purchase. The comedy is there and is sometimes actually amusing, but the gameplay takes center stage as far as I’m concerned.I’m a huge fan of turn-based strategy (along the lines of Final Fantasy Tactics and Jeanne D’Arc), and this happily fits comfortably into that category. The gameplay here is deeper in some respects, as you get up to 10 characters per battle, and you can switch them in and out mid-battle if you like. You can also throw characters across the battlefield to reach enemies who might not otherwise be accessible, with some character classes having longer throwing ranges than others. And yes, there are loads of character classes, becoming accessible as your existing characters make higher levels. And there are what feels like an infinite number of different weapons, healing items, and armors available, all of which can be upgraded by adventuring within the item itself. This adds a level of depth and re-playability to this game that is truly staggering. And this from someone who’s played FF:Tactics and Tactics Ogre all the way through numerous times.I still admit that I enjoy those two games a bit more than Disgaea, though. Their storyline is more enjoyable, and the sense of investment in the character’s individual progressions in those games is stronger to me (in Disgaea, for example, your characte.
The original with a grate overhaul
With huge replayability Disgae can last forever and take all free time in your life if you let it. The urge to get a better item and them go inside it to make it even better is sometimes too strong. Also still one of the most funny and well written scripts ever made for a game.
Game was in perfect shape, no scratches, came in the case with everything in it.
