This is a strategy RPG other strategy games:VC,advance wars, fire emblem, super robot taisen og 1 and 2. If your into this type of game know that Disgaea 4 is the latest in a long running series began back on ps2 and also put on psp were disgaea 1 and 2 while 3 was the first disgaea on ps3 it looked like it began life on ps2…this is not the case with 4!!!Disgaea 4 has online play in addition to solo mode and even some level creation to let other players experience what you’ve devised. Unique features about disgaea wonderfully funny story, level 9999 grinding is something you can do far longer than your average game, japanese voice with english subs makes the story even more funny as you likely don’t speak japanese and won’t understand what’s being said save the text/it comes in english but if at all possible i change the spoken language to japanese with english subs-all disgaea titles can do this and so can VC.If your an adrenaline junkie and your diet consists of :kz,cod, halo, gears or battlefield strategy games are more like digital chess where you must think before acting rather than going in all guns blazing…can you enjoy both strategy and shooters sure ,i do, but far fewer gamers have been exposed to strategy games as starting in feb with kz3 we’ve seen mostly shooters, deus ex,resistance 3 ,gears 3,battlefield and cod mw3.Out of all of them you’d experience more strategy and tactics in deus ex-human revolution which has a deep story and is more paced than other f.p.s/3rd.
Excellent game as expected from this series.
The Disgaea series has always been enjoyable and has had a tremendous amount of depth in each game. This recent installment has really shined the most for me, on par with the first Disgaea: Hour of darkness. The HD sprites are refreshing and the story is very enjoyable. Gameplay is what I’d expect from the Disgaea series but the camera is kinda annoying from time to time, but that is easily forgivable. If you are a fan of Disgaea and have a spare 100+ hours to burn I highly recommend this game.
I had never played any Disgaea game before, Mostly all the guys i game with wants to either shoot you in the back, or smash you into a wall and speed off. I never actually heard of Disgaea until this year (and that’s only because of retrolio recommending it to me) I like all types of games not just one in particular. So i’m not stuck in any one genre of gaming. What made me buy this game was 3 things. The first thing was from the photos on retrolio i saw. It made me think of FF tactics gameplay. And it’s very similar to that, but with it’s own style and variations. Will a fan of FF tactics like this game,I’m leaning more towards maybe, but not necessarily. This game is good on it’s simple humor, but sometimes the humor can be a bit of a turnoff for those looking for a deeper more serious storyline. While everything that tries to be funny in game, isn’t always funny, i did have a few simple laughs and a smile or two here and there. While being amusing, It’s simply just not for everyone, but no game is you know. The second reason was that i looked up a video of it on youtube, It showed some of the special moves, team attacks and, the character creation screens, and that made me go, …kay may be something to this game. You have a huge class of guys to choose from.Magic types, Brawler types, types in between and things that are just crazy. They are all demons or related to demons in one way or another. The third and final reason that i went with this game was because of it’s revi.
Having played all the Disgaea games I can say this one lives up to the rest of the series. Funny/Quirky story/writing, insane level cap (9999) plus reincarnation, infinite randomly generated levels in items (item world), tons of post game content, unlock able characters, missions, challenges and features, a heaping pile of DLC ranging from characters, features, survival mode and a collection of 4 new episodes in the Fuka Desco story and the Valzy’ back story episodes. All in all if you like tactical j-rpgs this is certainly one to check out, all the better if you just cant get enough level grinding/character progression. Easily able to sink 100-1000 hours into this title (I’m at 400 something hours /nerd), so its plenty of bang for your buck if you enjoy this type of game. It can get absurdly complex feeling compared to other j-rpgs that are viewed as standards in the genre (final fantasy tactics, tactics ogre, front mission, advanced wars) but the depth is really just icing on the cake and it works you into it perfectly with lessons and tutorials going over the major stuff in depth. All in all, buy it, you’ll like it.
I recommend this game to everyone, mostly tactical rpg fans. I love this game, you can never get over the level cap of 9999 in any game, i wish more rpg games had ideas like nippon ichi but everybody cant be the cream of the crop. The game arrived on time too so i cant complain, lol.Its been awhile now since i bought this game but i still play it regularly too.
Gift for my boyfriend, I do not play S-RPGs, but cannot help but sit and watch the conversations.
I’ve played Disgaea 1-3, and of those three games, I only enjoyed the first one. I found a number of the characters extremely annoying in Disgaea 2 and 3. Thankfully these types of characters were omitted from Disgaea 4. There were no annoying accents, and no stupid sounds made at the end of sentences (Mr. Champloo, Tink, Yukimaru). Unlike previous Disgaea games, the characters in Disgaea 4 are all pretty strong and useful. In Disgaea 1 through 3, there were always a few characters who just became useless later in the game, but all of the playable characters in Disgaea 4 stay strong throughout the entire experience.I choose to play Disgaea 4 in English, and I enjoyed the voice acting. The first Disgaea is still my favorite in the series, but Disgaea 4 is a close second.I would say if you enjoyed the first Disgaea game, but hated Disgaea 2 and 3, then you will most likely enjoy this one.
great game for the ps3 and it has alot of content and story line. terrific game. I really like the game.
Great tactical RPG. Haven’t played one yet in the series I didn’t enjoy. It’s more complex than say Final Fantasy Tactics (and not quite as good in my opinion), but worth playing nonetheless.
