This is a very good movie
This is one of the best horror/suspense movies I have seen in years. I must however agree with the other viewers. The character development was lacking terribly. I didnt get emotionally invested in any of them except Sara. And even at that, I really didnt care if she lived or died. But I must admit I was hoping she would get out at the end. I kept asking my husband, now who is that one? Who is her sister? Are they friends? Even before they got bloody, wet and it was dark, I still didnt know anything about them. Other than that, kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Great photography as well. Awesome screen graphics. I would have given it 5 stars, except for my comments above. I would still rush out and see #2 should it come out.
I personally found this movie to be very well done. The claustrophobia experienced when they are going through the small cave tunnels, the darkness and suspense throughout, and the development of the characters as they go through the ordeal is intriguing. The story itself is OK, but you don’t watch a horror movie like this for the story, do you?
The monster lives in the dark hole may be overworked somewhat but this movie is an excellent production with very good acting and direction. Worth your time for sure.
I love this movie.
Didn’t know what to expect. I am amazed by the way this movie was done. The effects were reasonably believable for a horror movie. Not so far fetched as they can get. The crawlers were well thought out, if humans were to live underground long enough. The mutations made by the creature designers in my opinion made sense. The story line was pretty good, as was the acting and the action keeps the viewers attention throughout. The squeemish may not like it, I have seen movies with way more gore and they sucked because it was over done.
My kid’s fav movie
I’d seen this movie before but wanted my 13 year old son to watch it. It scared him so much!!! Even though I’d seen it before, it still got me several times too. This is a very good movie and I highly recommend it!
I waited for almost 9 years before I watched it. Thought it would be too scary. The brilliance of this film is in the first half. The gore is beautiful as a result.
This is a movie all about human psychology when we are placed in a highly dangerous situation. A group of people go spelunking in a cave and find that they are not alone. EXTREMELY VIOLENT. Not necessarily gore is what is intended in this movie but it is a hack & slash, survival of the fittest, back alley, underground streetfight from Hell! We don’t just sit there or run away from the monsters; we start swinging and slashing back! What would you do or turn into yourself inside in the same situation? The Descent is a descent into human survival instinct at it’s fight or flight ,will to survive, animal ferocity finest! If you like the "Wolverine" attitude, THIS is a must have!
