Per my son, this is pretty cool. It was purchased for a birthday present and apparently I hit it right on the mark!
I loved the first game and this is more of the same, with some additions and tweaks. Graphically, it’s the same. The plot tries to be there but who really followed the plot of the first game? This is all about living the zombie apocalypse fantasy. The addition of defending structures and bases at points is great, as is the "dead zones" with their boss zombies. I also love how a headshot is a sure kill 90% of the time now.The downside is the length of the game and lack of really strong plot. I know I said it really doesn’t matter much, but imagine how awesome the game would be with a killer story. A little more varience in weaponry would be a bonus too.Still, it’s an excellent game. A must buy!
I loved the first and I love the second. It’s a great game to get my girlfriend into playing games and a really fun experience for us. I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much if I was playing it alone. If you’ve got people to play this with I would definitely recommend it.
If you haven’t played Dead Island or Dead Island Riptide, you are missing a hidden gem.We picked up two copies and played the first one with system link. It is hard to put down that way – having a friend helping out, and both having a full screen view makes it really fun.Riptide picks up immediately after the end of the first game – the same characters (plus one new one) are available. They added a few new options such as throwing flares, marking things on your map for other players (we do system link on this as well), etc.The difficulty on Riptide is significantly harder than the first Dead Island. Zombies swarm more and the fact that your character starts at Level 14 rather than Level 1 leads to tougher fights right away. I recommend playing part 1 before this game.Don’t pay more than $9.99 for Dead Island or Dead Island Riptide. Gamestop currently has them for that or less in store. If you can do system link, it makes the game so much more fun.Lots of customization of weapons and abilities makes this a must play. Can’t recommend enough! It does have quite a bit of language, so the rated M is very much true!
I bought this gift for my friend on his birthday, and so far he said this game is the best and he likes it.
It’s just like the first one. Nice story/cut scenes and hours upon hours of story mode. Especially playing to kill everything and collect all as I can never manage to walk/run past something without the desire to kill it.
I don’t care what some people are saying bout this game and giving bad reviews. If you like or loved the first one you will want to play this game. What is better than smashing zombies heads, cutting off their heads along with their limbs, setting them on fire, or shoot the heck out of them it is awesome. Bottom line if you want a good zombie game pick this up you wont be disappointed and if you never played the first one you can get the first one for like 10 bucks or something like that the GOTY edition with this Dead Island Riptide game and happy zombie killing……
Overall Dead Island Riptide is pretty fun and a great idea for a game. With all open world first person shooters the game does have its moments of glitches or odd happenings, but not many that I have come across. The game play is fun, and an interesting start to hopefully improved free roam zombie apocalypse games. The only problem I have found with this is the fact that when playing alone in campaign mode it gets a little boring. Seems like 9 out of 10 missions are missions that someone tells you they need something so you go retrieve the item or person and bring them back to the start area. This gets really boring if you don’t have a friend or two to play with. For $20 its really a good buy, has fun gameplay overall and since you can customize skills and weapons, it has some replay value to it.
This was a gift for my cousin! At this price with Christmas coming up, I just couldn’t resist. I was a fan of the first Dead Island when it came out a couple years ago, I never got around to checking out Riptide, but seeing him open it in Christmas and jumping into a fresh game together was a memorable experience.
