After watching all of the positive reviews I decided to give Crysis 2 a chance. Crysis 2 is pretty good. It starts off a bit slow, but a few hours into the campaign the action really starts to pick up. Graphically this game is outstanding with terrific lighting effects. The Cry engine 3 really does a superb job with environmental lighting. The controls are smooth and easy to get used to. I never played the first Crysis, but got used to the controls in about a hour into the campaign. The story is good and gets better halfway through. All the textures are smooth and I did not notice any pixelated walls anywhere. The city environments are massive and the graphics look spectacular. The insides of the buildings have lots of detail and look great. One of the things that really impressed me was that this game is not linear and allows you to climb around to attack enemies at different angles. The campaign has much more player freedom to move around the levels to attack your enemies. I am playing this on a 1080p plasma tv and using a 120 gig PS3 Slim. I saw some minor texture pops only a few times and a frame rate drop once or twice, but really did not interfere with my overall gameplay. The campaign is much longer than most FPS games out there and I think this game is well worth the money especially from retrolio with the promotional credit. In my opinion Killzone 3 does have much better graphics, but this game still looks good. Crysis 2 has the same textures and graph.
Campaign is exciting it gives the player choices not the usual "take these guys head on" you could stealth right pass them or take them head on snipe each one or c4 everybody just so much fun. Multilayer is complicated and not for those with just camp and shoot, its still has many players but beware after C3 came out most of the pros just play, I’m no pro by the way, but its a really fun game. period.
At first I was disappointed about the graphics not being as good as all of the hype. There is so much stuff on the screen that the frame rate gets really low. Also you see a lot of jagged edges and rough detail especially in faces. The game is really dark too (thank you nano vision). Sometimes the enemy cannot see you when you are in front of him.The game gets incredibly fun after you get past a few levels and get used to the game play. You are almost invincible in the suit. The stages are awesome big playgrounds. The are lots of weapons, objects to throw (especially exploding barrels), vehicles to ride, and tank guns to pickup. There are plenty of route options to attack the enemy like scale buildings or go in the subway. Playing around with nano suit powers and weapons customizations is cool. They need to come out with move support to add to the fun experience.
Crysis always sets a benchmark.Crysis 1 set a benchmark on openworld FPS and graphics.Crysis 2 sets the benchmark on how fun, real world like and beautiful a console game can be.My name is now Prophet and i am a fanboy for Crysis. Been hearing the main theme music repeatedly for a long time, cant get enough of the awesomeness. Google/youtube “dDAxUtIodXw” for the songIn short extremely enjoyed the single player in hardest difficulty where a few bullets (around 3-4) can kill you. The beautiful “real world like” environment i have never seen in any other game till Crysis 2 on ps3. Xbox 360 seems to have slightly crispier clearer graphics but PS3 is almost there. I liked the story better than MW or BFBC because of the beauty and the awesomeness of the game.On hardest and second hardest difficulties the AI is good at cornering you if you draw attention by killing one. The human cell ops are a little dumb but a few bullets can kill you. The best way to kill all cellops is to act as predator cloaked in waiting and using silenced hits to head. The Alien AI is more advanced in that once you kill one of them they seem to find and point to your position and fire at you even if cloaked. 50cal HMG always works best to kill any and all aliens which are harder to kill and cell ops as well if you wanna take it easy. Its upto you how you wanna play, not kill anyone or kill everything that moves. The way tackle enemies you decide. You can even play like you are playing Snake in MGS4.Multiplaye.
This review is done having only completed half or so of the campaign and i have yet to try mp due to psn being down. I will update when finished. First off graphics are indeed exceptional, even though to me its not a real big deal. The game does start off a little bit slow. Cloak mode makes early part of game a bit too easy in that you can just walk by enemies without being noticed. However, once you get going game really picks up. I would recommend this game it is really different. Below is a summary.Negatives: some glitcheso too easy early on cannot pass thru cutscenes, this will diminish replayability to me, even though i will replay this a couple of spots where not sure where to go i hate this in video gamesPositives: great graphics interesting game play and options for a fps depth and length different ways to approach enemies really fun, better than kz2 much better than all cod, way better than mgs4 story is solid but a bit hard to follow cloaking can be good but its too easy at firstAddition just added: finished game and have started multiplayer.Game gets better as you go on.You cannot just rely on stealth you do actually hacw to fight latter on in game and this is good. I do really like that sometimes stealth other times fighting is way to go. this is a really good game, i wished first few missions didn’t drag so much however. Multiplayer looks good but similar to others. Nothing really new, i wished there was more teamwork to fight bosses or something as a gr.
I actually don’t have much to say other than the things mentioned by official video game magazines so in general this game is really good. Although you tend to play in same style some of the levels you can actually play almost as however you like weather its in a stealthy way or aggresive shooter. The story is actually good, but if your new it’ll take some extra time for you to figure it out. The bonus content was fun. The multiplayer is different not your regular call of duty/battlefield type but it deffinitively puts a challenge. Excellent game!! Would recommend most for those who just focus on gameplay and less on cinematic cutscenes.
rysis 2 is a game that I am sure many people were anticipating, and also skeptical about. While the first game had some hard core graphics it clearly was more of a visual benchmark than game at times. Going forward Crytek has made some changes to the formula, most for the better, and produced a high quality game that will not disappoint both fans of the original Crysis and FPS gamers in general
They never made a crysis 1 for the home console ,pc only! So not gonna play until I get the original! But the game loads no problem!
The majority of the buzz around Crysis 2 has been around the game as a technological achievement, and it absolutely is. It is one of the best looking games I’ve played on my PS3. Manhattan in the aftermath of a devastating alien attack gave the developers a very interesting landscape to work with and they delivered in spades. The set pieces are huge, the environments gorgeous and detailed, and the lighting is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Not only visually, but the games audio is incredible as well. The sounds of your gunshots echoing down the abandoned, skyscraper-flanked streets of the city feel visceral, noises come at you from every corner, and the explosions rumble deep and clear. However, what impressed me about Crysis 2 even more than its incredible audio and visual delights was the way the absolutely superb single player campaign was designed. While the game is linear, each battlefield is designed in a very “open” fashion (for lack of a better word), almost like a series of sandbox/open world missions. You are given many options when determining how you want to accomplish your objective, both by the way the area is laid out, and by the tools that your Nanosuit provides you to assess and overcome the situation. Do you want to sneak by the enemies in stealth mode, or use stealth to get in for the close, hit and run kill? Do you want to flank? Go in with guns blazing? Attack from above? Use the turret on the other side of the battlefield? This is where Cry.
I’m not going into great detail, there are long reviews here to tell you. It’s fun and the online is still pumping!! No joke, I always get a full room no matter the match I pick. The graphics and storyline are stellar. Crysis 2 in my opinion,is the staple in the Crysis series. I will be picking up Crysis 3, when the price drops a little as well that’s for sure. If you don’t own this game by now,go to your local store and pick it up 5/5
