Great
This game requires more than average skill, strategy, and flair for the dramatic. In other words – no risk, no reward. Most drivers behave in typical, gentlemanly fashion, much like all open wheel drivers. However, there are a few that will always take chances, cut you off, dive down to the inside of you in a tight turn and take you out if necessary, and just frustrate you if you do not pay attention. It also seems as though these drivers ‘rotate’ personalities each time you play (randomly agressive or normal). For a PS1 game, the graphics are still quite good and gameplay never disappoints. The crashes are, in fact, very spectacular and are quite entertaining. (However… I remember Greg Moore’s untimely death at Fontana in 1999, and at times it tends to make me feel a little uneasy-even though it is just a game.)Some of the great features of this game are being able to select one of 15 drivers that participated in the 1996 CART season, and racing any one of 10 tracks. The ability to create your own driver, and pick a team car for them is also great. The adjustments can make a lot of difference in your car, and they are very easy to use and understand. Also, in Simulation Mode, if you have an accident, it can very easily end your day, or at least ruin it in the standings (much like the real sport). It ain’t ‘Tradin’ paint with a bunch of crazy ‘necks,’ but rather ‘Going wheel to wheel with a bunch of crazy Euroes and South Americans.’ (And I mean that with the ut.
Any cart or open wheel fan this game is a must
First time IĆ¢ā¬ā¢ve played this game in over 20 years. ItĆ¢ā¬ā¢s just as I remember it. So much fun. Brings back so many memories. Would love to see this remaster and rereleased for modern consoles.
Is in mint shape. A great game for motorsport enthusiast. Fairly simple to but difficult to master.
I’ve played alot of different IndyCar racing games & I have to say that this is still my alltime favorite. I really wish they would just remake this game with PS3 graphics & engine. The game came out back during the Gnassi CART era of dominance so that’s the lineup you have as far as drivers to choose from or you can create your own driver & choose a team to drive for. All the tracks except Indy are here because this is a CART game & after 95″ they no longer raced at Indianapolis so instead you have the U.S. 500 at Michigan. Gameplay for the time is pretty good, you can adjust & such, cars are pretty repsonsive. I was able to win every race except for 2, the 500 milers at Michigan & Fontana. Man I tried in vain to win those but it just wouldn’t happen, I always qualified on pole but during the race I always either solo crashed, got caught up in someone else’s wreck, or blew an engine usually not long after the halfway point of the race, makes you appreciate the guys that race IndyCars for real that much more. When I shortened the distance to only 50%, I was able to claim a few of those. As far as graphics, it’s a PS1 game so that should tell you the quality but even so, the game still looks good visually. The wrecks are right on, when cars hit the wall they break into pieces just like in real life parts are all over the track & if you hit something it can ruin your day. I had a race at Michigan, a 250 lapper, I was leading down the backstretch when in front of me Pruett & Tra.
Surprisingly not bad. It has most of the licenced circuits and drivers from the best years of the CART series. The driving physics is decent and the gameplay is fun. Remember, it’s a PS1 game and it’s not going to look or play like GT6. If you play with that in mind, you’ll probably have a good time.
Cart World Series is my favorite racing game I have ever played. I still play it over current racing games. The racing is fair and adjustable if not to your liking. Physics are very good. One can actually oversteer and understeer the car. Control is realistic. Spins are gauged on speed and location. The physics overall are better than almost all other racing games. 10 race track avail. Lots of drivers, create a driver. The speeds and lack of braking at some venues aren’t always accurate, but still amazingly fun and competive.Downpoints: No draft, the CPU engine is dumb when it comes to side by side racing with a player. It has it’s line and nothing will alter it. My brother and I have suffered “spontaneous air” before as well. Little things can really upset the car or cause it to take off(Michigan has a bump in turn 4 that frequently causes issue). Damage is great and accurate 90% of the time and the crashes are realistic. This game is old and my bro and I still play this game when we get together to play video games. GREATEST RACING GAME EVER!!!Especially open wheel or Nascar style!I would pay almost any price for this game. I love it!!!
I can not give a review of this Cart World Series dvd, this is the wrong one for the play station we have.
