I got a copy in the mail last Thursday, Aug. 15. I’ve just finished the first cemetery level after going through Sunnydale High and the Bronze. Short review: It’s amazing. The graphics are incredible. The voice acting is great — you’d never know the lead voice actress isn’t Sarah Michelle Gellar. And the rest of the voices ARE the original cast. And the dialogue is on par with the show (Sample line: When a female vampire kills you, she says, “I always wanted to know what it was like to do it with a girl. Now I know what all the hype was about.”) So far the story is great, too. It’s like getting a “Lost” classic episode from Season 3. So far the plot goes like this: Dru has been kidnapped by some powerful demon force and Spike is being forced into doing its bidding, which is to resurrect and rebuild the Master’s cult. Probably in an effort to revive the Master since he pops up on every “Loading” screen. As for gameplay, it is loads of fun. The stake is your primary weapon but you can also use a crossbow for distance sniping and there are lots of sharp jagged wooden planks (“Oooh! Pointy!”) and convenient fires or explosive chemicals drums. I just received the watergun from Xander and haven’t been able to give it a try yet but I am jonesing for it. It will shoot holy water or hellfire. You can also combine the holy water with elixirs for full power-ups or combine holy water or hellfire with crossfire bolts to make super arrows. For the most part, the gameplay is great. The co.

This was the first buffy game that I played. This one is awesome. Would love to see many more sequels.
If you’re a Buffy fan and a gamer, you will probably love this game even if it’s the first time you’ve played it after all these years. While not particularly innovative, there are some nice gameplay designs, like Buffy’s fighting combos, and moving her is far more natural and easy than, say, the pre-Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider games. Weapon selecting is a bit dodgy, but not prohibitive. The most enjoyable thing for Buffy fans is that most of our main friends return to voice the characters – Hannigan, Head, Brendon, Carpenter, & Marsters are all here. What’s more surprising is that, while Gellar is absent, they cast an incredibly workable replacement. She has her own distinct voice from Gellar, but it’s similar and she has Buffy’s cadence down. For someone NOT Gellar, it’s hard to find fault. This is unquestionably worth playing for gamers who are Buffy fans, and likely worth the time of those who aren’t who like 3rd person action/adventure games, and who aren’t averse to the datedness of playing older games. Where adaptations of TV shows and movies are notoriously spotty, developer Double Helix did a commendable job with Buffy.
This is a number one game!!!!! if you are a fan of the show, you will see that it is just like an episode and with the soundtrack, voices, and levels and hidden secrets it will keep anyone busy for hours even if you are not a fan!. i also know that there is a buffy two coming out in the summer 2003….which looks even better!!!
this game is pretty cool, i bought it at retrolio because of the good price and it was well worth it. this game is full of action and adventure. i recommend it for everyone, even the non-buffy tv show watchers.i admit i don’t watch the show, but the game is cool. i must say that the dialogue from buffy is repetitive and corny. but overall the fighting system is great and you won’t regret it.
HI i have this game for x-box it rocks and it’s so cool and i also have the second one and so great thanks.
I’m a do-or-die Buffy fan – have every single episode on VHS, as have seen each of them a minimum of 5 times. I’m a little obsessed… :)Needless to say, I’ve been watching the development of this game for two+ years with drooling anticiaption. A while back when it was announced the game was only coming to XBOX, I was crushed – poor college student :( so the thought of spending three bills on a new system was pretty much out of the question. However, a few weeks ago, now that the XBOX has been reduced in price, I gave in and spent some cash to buy the system and Buffy, which I figured I’d dump on eBay when I finished (saving the box and manuals and such).Boy, will that not be happening!!! Buffy is the most incredible video game I’ve ever played – no question. Mario Sunshine can kiss Buffy’s tight leather-clad rear. The graphics are incredible – the shots inside the library are so close it’s creepy. My 35″ TV is in another state at the moment so I’ve had to play on a 13″ monitor, and I’m dying to see it on the big screen. The colors are vivid – Buffy’s red leather pants are the best. The characters are redered well; the only complaint I have is that the lip-sync is slightly off, but not nearly as bad as I’ve seen it (like Bridge Commander on PC).The real beauty in the game is the control though – absolutely amazing. The engine (aptly named “Slayer”) is sure to be used in many other games in the future. Words like “multi” and “combo” when it applies to attacks usually sca.
