The box says it supports Add-On Content. The soundtrack is massive at 108 songs, so if they do DLC for this game and it turns out to be nothing but new songs, I’m going to be mad.I love this game, despite some things that happen in the story. It’s freaking epic, and to get all the songs, you have to explore to find and unlock them. Exploration is a good thing. You wouldn’t have time for the music if you didn’t try to complete all the side quests…But it’s true killer is it’s length, lending this review it’s opening thought and title. What I’d like to see for this game is DLC that makes the story longer. I’d shell out however much they wanted for that. The world is big enough on it’s own that it could feature more stage battles, and Lars’ death, among a few other things, just happened way too soon given it’s length.Almost $80 (Hey, I wanted it sooner, rather than later) for music and between 6 and 8 hours of of gameplay, even for as enjoyable as it is? I could have hunted down the soundtrack for free and just watched the cutscenes as a movie on YouTube. So if they do DLC, they need to have it be stuff to extend the main story. And maybe a Mt. Rockmore effigy for Lita Ford’s character.
The disc was beautiful! Everything was perfect!!
the game is pretty awesome, however, i received it with the wrapping sealed around the game slightly torn, which was a turn off, also the disc was dislodged from the groove in the case and was loose, so it got a few scratches, this is the last time i’m buying from this shop (not retrolio, but a shop on the site)
It’s a great game. Not because of the great graphics or mindblowing gameplay. It’s really good because of the idea of putting metal legends and all of the metal culture inserted in the game. By the way, Ophelia is AWSOME!! I was laughing my guts out when i saw the “Fan Geisers”. Lots of recognizable details of the whole metal culture of the 70’s and 80’s. I think is fun for people around their 40s but, in all is a good game for everyone. It has banned features for gore and swearing, if little children play it, so, parents, be at ease, but keep an eye on your children: monsters are really metal-like… so, if you remember the old album covers of metal bands, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
At first I was kind of like, okay whatever. But after playing a bit, doing some side-missions, amping up my ride, it was smooth sailing. I really like this game, sometimes i really get into the music when im cruising around, which is cool because ill just drive around running stuff over and listening to the great tunes.Gameplay: Very fun! Only downfall is no health bar, but after a bit you start to understand when you are low on health.Graphics: Very nice, very smooth.Controls: Very Easy, you can be a button masher, or a Axe Master and still have fun. the learning curve is great!Music: Absolutely fan-friggin-tastic!!!
I recommend
Let me preface this review by saying that I am not a huge fan of metal music nor of Jack Black. I listened to some Ozzy when I was growing up, and I think Jack Black is OK, but those weren’t the reasons I bought this game. In fact, the first time I heard about this game, I had zero interest in it. However, playing the demo, reading some interviews with Tim Schafer, and seeing some of the art behind this game completely changed my mind. The Pros:The art in this game is fantastic – the world, the character design, the “legends” you uncover, even the user interface – are all a joy to encounter. I never got tired of finding a new viewpoint and watching the camera pan across some fantastic heavy metal landmark. And the various heavy metal demons they’ve thought up are brilliant. The story is top notch. The plot of the main quest, and especially the “legend” back story are really well done. The voice work is truly excellent. It really brings the characters to life. The humor – maybe I have the mind of a 13 year old, but the game made me laugh out loud several times and kept me with a constant mental grin. The music – even though I’m not a huge fan of the genre, it really fits the game world. The world continues – once you beat the game you can keep exploring or finish side missions you haven’t yet completed. And there seems to be a bridge to nowhere – maybe a possible DLC single player continuation? I sure hope so.The Cons:The single player campaign is short. I don’t think you are really.
I dont know how else to put it, I absolutely love this game. I havent had this much fun playing a game since Call of Duty 4. And being a fan of metal music definately adds to the experience. This game also reminds me of a lot of other games. I see elements of Soul Reaver, God of War, GTA, and Diablo, which all are fantastic in their own way. The voice acting is great, the graphics are beautiful in a morbid way, the story is wonderful and even the supporting characters are awesome. There also seems to be alot to find with secondary missions and hidden items, a plus for me because it adds replay value! The only small complaint I have, like many others is the games length. I hope they add more levels via DLC, but if not I am still satisfied with it.
The game took about a month to arrive at my house but I didn’t really mind because I only bought this because I had a little extra money on my account and I wasn’t sure what to buy. The game case was in perfect condition when it arrived and so was the disk. I’ve had no problems so far. Now, the game itself is pretty fun IMO. Controls are easy to learn and the game is easy to get a hang of. Nothing complicated about this game. Also has funny dialog and a great soundtrack. Only problem was that the game was a bit short or at least could have used more content, maybe some story DLC would have been nice. Long story short, I would recommend this game to any of my friends for the price I paid for it.P.S. Just in case it matters I bought this for the Playstation 3
I play this game with my girlfriend and our boy(10) . It may be a little violent and the cursing is blatant, but you can bleep the cursing (Which adds to the fun)and you can turn off blood, which only adds to the myth that kids who see blood in video games will become blood thirsty,(so you know, I left it on!)I am not a fan of the upside-down pentagrams used as GPS mission checkpoints. All that being said, the game is amazing. The sound track is back to back classic heavy metal infused with the game fighting. The game itself looks like you are in a TOOL video mixed a little with Camelot lore and a little bit of Outlaw motorcycle madness. You have two weapons an ax and guitar. After a few hours the ax turn into mostly show, and the guitar is like a magic wand that uses solos to dispel monsters and baddies. There are boss-fights with platformer-game elements built in, but this is more like an open world adventure than like a Mario. There are also RTS elements, but will not give you anymore details, to prevent spoilers. There are several rock-star cameos. if you love heavy metal then you simply need to enjoy a game built for you. This game should not be missed by anyone. I purchased it for 20 dollars right here from retrolio. I got plenty of value out of it. I hope there is a sequel, and would grab it up, even with a price north of 20 dollars.
