BLAZBLUE : CALAMITY TRIGGERAfter a long wait I finally get to try out BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for the PS3. Being a GuiltyGear fan I had high hopes of Aksys pulling out a good game with its new and refreshing cast of characters, enhanced fighting system and online play. I can say that yet, after acquiring the carpal tunnel (25+ hours of playing) Trophy, I have not been disappointed with the features that this game has to offer.OUT OF THE BOXIf you manage to get your hands on a limited edition, you will get a small box that will include the game case as well as a blue case with the bluray logo ontop. It will contain 2 Discs of the Soundtrack (The first CD being short loops and themes, and the 2nd being most of the character soundtrack and very odd remixes by DJ I-forgot-his-name) and a Blueray disc showing the main and most important combos to practice on.THE GAME PLAYThe cast of characters is small compared to most fighters, yet each person can find their fighting style in them, whether you’re a constant smasher, a technical, or simply making good abuse of high tier characters; they’re all there. Each character has a specific Drive (Attacks you initiate with the X button) that makes them very unique and lets you have freedom of creativity to mix your own combos. The storyline are very well depicted with detailed 3/4 shots of characters and facial movements, that is enough to bring the scenes alive and the voice acting (In English, so far) are very well done. Voices for Litch.
If you’re looking for a good fight, you can’t do better. Matches are fast paced (but long lasting) and intense, the balance is brilliant not just good, and graphic flare will make your eyes die of awesome. Seriously, if you enjoy a fair competition or just kickass anime action, you can’t go wrong.
The guys that brought Guilty Gear clearly know exactly what they’re doing… And this awesome fighting game is proof of that.BlazBlue has a 12 character roster and each one of those is so unique that they bring most of the charm on the table. From the weird blob thingy to the cute blond girl with guns… you’ll clearly find your favorite after a few hours of kicking a**/getting your a** kicked. Some might say that a 2D fighting system is too old school for nowadays… but seriously, the 3D backgrounds, the awesome music, the great character animations and the simply amazing character developement (let it be the move sets or the personalities), this game outdoes itself and makes an enjoyable and lasting experience (online compatibility).
it took exactly 2 days to arrive and im happy with the service and the game is in NEW condition thanks
Most technical, best balanced fighting game of this gen. Takes some time to master but worth it all the way.
BlazBlue is the most beautiful 2D fighter on the planet. That is obvious, what is not so obvious is how deep a fighting game this really is. Yes it has special over the top flashy moves. Yes it requires precision timing to execute moves and yes you have to know each character to “read their moves” so you can beat them. But the combo system in this game is the core of what makes it fun. If you want to really enjoy what this game has to offer, then you need to know how to perform the intensely long juggle combos in this game. Trust me, it’s worth it. Other than that, you’ve got an engaging story (no…it’s not your typical game where random combatants come together to fight in a tournament for no apparent reason). What else do you need for a fighter? Oh yeah, being able to get your hands on a copy would be nice. A cult classic for sure. Pick up a copy when you can.
This game has amazing sprites and backgrounds. Characters are blanced and the action is intense and fast. Its different from Guilty Gear as a whole, but after some practice aspects of the game make it feel guilty gearish. The spirits of Sol and Ky and others really do do live on this new franchise. This game is newb friendly, but unfolds as you learn the tricks of the trade and develops into a complex fighter. This is a must own!!! Its a shame because this game will not be recognized by many gamers. I say try it out and support ARKS…if you own the PS3 version i’ll be there :D I main Ragna and Rachael
Who would’ve thought we’d be seeing a new 2D fighter that revolutionizes the genre in a Next-Gen gaming era. Where everyone is obsessed with the quality of 3D graphics and CG sequences, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger comes from behind to beat the rest of the competition. One of the interesting things about BlazBlue is that it actually has a great storyline. Something often lacking from games of the Fighter genre. It may be hard to wrap your head around at first, but that’s because the amount of depth in it. I won’t spoil too much, but it invovles a recurring timeloop. Another thing about the storyline, even though the main story is intense and somewhat dark, BlazBlue has a humorous side to it. From Bang’s unrequitted love for Litchi to Noel’s small chest complex, you’ll get a great laugh at the comedy thrown in.Of course you’ll be wondering about the fighting since it IS a fighting game after all. Well to put it simply, the fighting is phenominal. You only have 12 characters at the start and that’s all you get, but don’t see it as a bad thing. Since there’s only 12 characters, that means that the game is much easier to balance. Not only that, but one thing I love about BlazBlue is that every character is unique in their own way. Unlike Street Fighter where many of the characters are clones of eachother with slight differences, BlazBlue characters all differ in types of attacks, special skills, and fighting strategies.Another thing, the online play is GREAT! Having lobbies to play.
Difficulty Just RightTime Spent 40 to 100 HoursThe Bottom Line Highly addictiveBlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a fighter by the makers of Guilty Gear. A fighting series known for it’s fast paced action and strange pack of characters to use. BlazBlue is no different, however the gameplay, the characters, is a lot different from what you’re used to in Guilty Gear.First thing’s first is the fact that there’s only 12 characters to chose from. While this may seem very little, the fact that they’re pretty varied makes it a pretty good selection to chose from. The only badside is after playing through with em all, you kinda wish there were more. While I did say they were varied, you can only had hoped they included even more variety of fighters. From characters like Ragna, to Jin, to catlike creature Taokaka, mystery cyborg ninja like Hakumen and even a blob made out of bugs Akarune. You won’t be disappointed by the different fighting styles they offer. The gameplay is rather simple, the main attacks are mapped out on 4 buttons, starting from the Square button and working clockwise, you’ve got Weak, Medium, Strong and Drive attacks. The first three are self explanatory while the Drive attacks are unique to each character. Think of it similar to Super Smash Bros. B attacks, each character has their own attack that they bring to the battle, Litchi Faye-Ling can throw her pole and control it in various directions by calling it and placing it on the ground, make it spin in different direc.
This game is awesome. There is so much to learn and so much more complex than the street fighter series. The graphics are superb, the game play is incredible. I’ve been playing this non-stop for days and it doesn’t bore. There’s so many ways to play: story mode, versus, online, arcade, training, and so much to unlock. Every character is very unique and u don’t come across a similar looking move twice. The characters are all well done and never boring. I hope they make a role playing game with these characters their so cool and interesting. The voice overs are awesome, the levels are so beautiful, and the music too. Every aspect of this game gets a 10/10. I love when games come out that no one ever knows anything about and blows you away. Everyone thought 2d fighter games were in the past but this game has brought it back full steam. GET THIS GAME IF YOU LIKE FIGHTING GAME. YOU WILL LOVE IT!
