It’s the Twisted Metal you love, but a couple of the new challenges just don’t fit; especially the damn Death Race level. It was a bad idea. The only thing it adds to the game is frustration. Try any strategy you can think of, then google in search of an angle you haven’t thought of, and you will still likely be stalled out on this nonsense for a bit, unless your luck is better than mine. It’s a forgivable, but critical misjudgment on the developer’s part. There I am, happy to be back in Sweet Tooth’s grim little world, thrilled with the game’s presentation and familiar mechanics; pleased that though it’s been 5 years since I last piloted a gleefully psychotic death machine, my hands remember how to efficiently operate as a vehicular spree murderer. It’s challenging enough to keep me on edge, but completely fair, and I’m charging doggedly through my opposition with none of the tactician’s artful flair, but possessed of the satisfying blunt cruelty of the slaughterhouse worker who always volunteers to swing the sledge hammer because secretly, his favorite sound in all the world is the sound a cow’s skull makes when it yields to blunt-force trauma and the downward arc of heavy metal. Then I advance to the Death Race level, and 6 tries later have advanced no further. I’m no longer having any fun. I’m frustrated and a little disgusted that someone thought it would be a great idea to completely disrupt the flow of the game by implementing this little "improvement" to a s.
If you are looking for a completely new game in the Twisted Metal series you won’t find it here. A lot of the game feels like an HD version or better looking version of prior Twisted Metal games but I love Twisted Metal so I highly recommend it if you played previous games in the series and are a true fan of the genre then it is a must own.
great game, very fun average price for all new games only problem would be online matchmaking isent very good but its not the game that would be the network i guess
fun game nice and destructive
Came out brand new the corner of the box was kind of damage but the game was in an excellent shape no scratches or anything wrong
I bought this for $11.99 as I always wanted it. I only played single player for one round so far but so far it’s cool. I remember playing TM 1, 2, and 3 for PS1 as a kid, and it brings emotions to my eyes when I reminisce about the old days when everything was way better. This definitely has a TM feel to it, but it doesn’t feel totally like the originals. I mean, in this one, Sweet Tooth can fly after transforming into a transformers like Transformers which to be is a little meh as it takes away the TM feel but I’ll get over it. Hopefully Sweet Tooth is not available in Multiplayer right away like he wasn’t in past games. I have not seen Minion yet as he probably needs to be unlocked but I can’t wait to play as him and destroy everything as I crash into them, lol.
This is the 2nd game I’ve purchased this year, but is easily my most anticipated PS3 game release ever so my expectations for this game were ridiculously high. As of my writing of this review, it ALMOST lives up completely to my built up level of hype for it.First of all, we’ll start with a huge con to the game if you’re not a hardcore fan of the series. This is NOT a racing a game so the control scheme is completely different than what you’d expect coming from something like ModNation Racers. It will take some adjusting to, but once you master the controls, it becomes second nature. There is a lot of stuff to learn to be successful at this game and it might take you a bit before you completely grasp the game and can go through the campaign on the hardest difficulty (which if you want to unlock a series favorite, Warthog, you NEED to not only beat it on twisted difficulty, but you have to get a gold medal on every chapter/boss fight in the campaign on said difficulty). So, this is not a game you can pick up and expect to be godly good at right off the bat…if you bought it for a single player experience that is. Online you might do pretty good.First, let’s talk about the vehicles. Each vehicle has its own strengths and weaknesses and a special move with an alt special. Alt specials usually require more than just pressing triangle and launching it. There’s Meat Wagons piloted gurney bomb that does more damage than just launching a regular one but is controlled by you and can.
Not a bad game. Hard if you don’t have patience.
Incredible VALUE that hasn’t been put into a game for some time. The great thing about this series and this game in particular is that it doesn’t care to fit into mainstream conventions… it takes a leap. I certainly believe this pays off. David Jaffe and the rest of the people at ESP also truly care about the consumer. Why would anyone want COD and the rest of the typical breed when they can have something a little different – Brilliant….
Ever since owning the original PS1 I have enjoyed the Twisted Metal Series. My absolute favorite being Twisted Metal Black. This new iteration is a decent follow up to the previous games. I feel like it doesn’t give you as much freedom when it comes to the main story as the amount of characters are much more limited this time around to only a few. A main draw for me is always the crazy storyline of each character to go through all the wonderful mayhem to be granted a twisted prize upon victory. That being said, the story content that is presented is top notch as is to be expected from the series and at least has favorites like Sweet Tooth still implemented. Some of the boss battles are pretty crazy and unique as well.As far as game play goes it feels like twisted metal to where each car has it’s unique strengths and ability. The power ups are still present and the graphics are very good. The online component was quite nice as well. It plays like it used to when playing with friends yet only on the usual online arena that games work on these days. This title is great for old fans and newcomers as it won’t alienate either group.Pros:Solid StoryGreat Car CombatSlick PresentationCons:Story itself could use more variety in terms of characters.
