I am a parent and haven’t played for many a years. Well ever since my son learned to play and I passed the reigns to him (more by force than choice). So it’s been awhile and I hv become cynical when it comes to new games. But this is one of those games that change your life. In a good way. So much in a good way that as soon as I finished. I just started it over again. Ended up with an ending that isn’t even spoke about online. I don’t think many people originally found it. So there are 4 alternate endings, not 3. I found this because I was slow in responding. Which my child yelled at me for. But i redeemed myself with this rare ending. Hell yea!!
The weirdest thing is that neither my husband or myself had played this game in any way. I happened to like the creators of the game so I thought I’d go out on a limb and buy it as part of my husbands Valentines presents. We have both been glued to the tv screen while playing this game. The idea has been done to some degree in some other games, but this game does it in a way that will give you chills. It definitely has some boring parts to it, but they are well worth it. The game arrived on time and has done us well. This game literally has dozens of directions any one person can go. The whole gaming experience can be changed by just the slightest differences. Well worth the price and the time played. :-)
I didn’t play, but watched parts of it as my boyfriend was playing, I got this for him for Christmas, along with Heavy Rain. The graphics are amazing, the story is incredible.Agree with some of the reviews that the interaction is so-so, it seems to tell you what button to push and doesn’t really leave much room for creative game play. The other stuff seems to make up for it though!
Kinda silly, kinda dumb. I felt there was very little reason to even hold the controller for most of the game. I, like so many, have been spoiled after playing the Great Sony Hit “The last of us”. Nothing else even comes close for the PS3.
I absolutely love this game. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Heavy Rain or other story driven games. I am not an expert at gaming and I had no problems playing this game on normal difficulty. Nevertheless, my heart was still pounding through all of the action sequences. Sometimes it is difficult to tell what direction to aim Jodie during the action scenes because you are paying too much attention to the attacker and not Jodie’s body movements. I found that if you play close attention to Jodie, the fight scenes aren’t too difficult. I also love the free roam ability you have with Aiden during certain sequences. Some gamers might find this game to be boring because some parts seem to be driven a lot by dialogue but I didn’t mind.
I love playing games and sometimes they can be a little challenging to where I get stuck or frustrated but this one was just right. Iwas able to make it through I really like this game
This game is so wonderful! I loved the story SO SO much. My only complaint is that I wish you did more, like I wish you could controlled more. The controls reminded me a lot of The Walking Dead video game, in that you make decisions and press buttons to control dialogue at times. but the storyline and graphics are just as great as The Last of Us. Bottom line, if you’re into games with killer storylines, you must play this!
Looking at the reviews of the game some people have mixed feelings of the game it must have been because of Heavy Rain game. The game tells a story and through out the game there are many interesting scenes. The story is about a girl that is trying to put her life back together, and along the way you will encounter characters that are either trying to help her or hurt her.
I really enjoyed my ~15+ hr playthrough of BEYOND: Two Souls. I have also played Heavy Rain as well, and the controls in BEYOND is _much_ better than Heavy Rain. The camera can still be stiff, but the controls are a lot smoother in here than Heavy Rain. The QTE has been designed to be more … intuitive, and the cue for it are placed to be more organic than Heavy Rain was. There are no "internal dialogue" or listening to characters’ internal thoughts as Heavy Rain had you do in order to give cues to the player to explain what the player has to do. If you stray away from the level too much, the game will redirect you to the correct path.Story-wise, I felt BEYOND had a better story, especially in its execution, than Heavy Rain primarily due to the fact that you are following just _one_ character, Jodie Holmes versus Heavy Rain’s multiple character povs. Genre is more of a supernatural melodrama with plenty of action and suspense. It is very cinematic. It’s not to say Heavy Rain’s story sucks, but between the two, BEYOND just had better execution of the story in pacing and flow. There’s a lot of time skips, and it is told non-linear format. That added another interesting layer where the player had to pay attention to when Jodie was, not just where. Depending on when, it showcased different aspects of Jodie’s personality and constantly changed the emotional stakes. As mentioned, BEYOND’s story is engrossing with a lot of heart. There’s no aiming per se or any well-known &#.
After "playing" Heavy Rain, I bought in to what Quantic Dream is selling – story telling in what is loosely considered a game. The looks and sounds are top notch. The controls are passable during the more mundane actions, and bad during the limited number of action portions. I bought this for story, and I’m not even certain that I ever controlled any part of the action in the game, but it does not matter. The story kept pushing to a crazy high level of dumb, like a bad sci-fi movie that I had limited control of. Willem Dafoe is super creepy.
