I purchased this game for my 5 year old son and he absolutely loves it. It’s an easier beginner game for littler kids. We also got him the Backyard Football game and he loves that too. I’d highly recommend if you have a little one who’s into sports, starting them out with a game like this before you introduce them to Madden or MLB.

I’m over 14 now but Backyard Baseball and for that matter the whole backyard series is proabably the greatest Ds franchise and yes better than MarioCart.All new fields and new players from the mlb everything has been revamped to give you the greatest mobile baseball experience for ALL AGES!Pros:Graphics:Field detail is the best,player detail as well,and sound effects are the best of its kind.Gameplay:Smooth and easy and easy to use for both a button person(like me) or a stylus using person.Content:All 32 MLB teams and 6 Backyard fictional teams and includes at least one player from each Mlb team with the rest of your favorite Backyard friends.A season mode is also here which include a 5 game or 17 game schedule.And exhibition and mini games.Cons:Commentary gets bland after a while. I announce my own games just to hear myself.(I’m awful) .but better than that commentator.Overall:A must have for sports lovers and children or adults alike.
This is my 3rd grade son’s favorite game. We have the computer version, the Wii version, and the DS version. He loves them all. It’s easy enough for younger kids to pick up quickly, yet it’s held his interest for years. He’s had the computer version since 1st grade and still plays it quite frequently. Kids can pick their own favorite players to form teams and the playing venues are fun (farms, space, underwater, etc.) It’s not all that challenging, but I think that’s why he likes it–he can win most of the time.
