Everything I expected to get in the game at a great price… Saved $20 over gamestop and walmart. Highly Recommended.
A couple of months ago I got the itch to play a mech game. I wanted to hop into a mech, loaded for bear and go blow stuff up. I thought about Mechwarrior 4 and Steel Battalion. Of course I don’t have a gaming PC or an original Xbox, so those were out of the question. I had played the demo for Armored Core 4 and didn’t like it much. I spent time reading every review I could on every mech game for this current generation of consoles. I even went out and threw down 20 bucks on Front Mission Evolved. Most mech games nowadays get crap reviews. And I had read quite a few on Armored Core V. When will I learn? After playing Front Mission Evolved for a bit, I still felt like there was something I was missing. It’s not a bad game, it’s just not a great game. So I went to youtube and started watching every video I could find on ACV. Despite all the negative reviews, I was liking what I was seeing. So I bought it, and guess what, it rocks. If you are looking for a mech fix, look no further. The thing I like most about ACV is that you can pretty much tackle the missions however you want. Do you want to go through with blazing speed and destroy enemies as fast as possible? Can do. Do you want to be strategic and stealthy by climbing tall buildings and sniping your enemies? Can do. It is completely up to you. There have been a few complaints leveled at ACV that are completely unfounded. But first let me cover a few things. As you have read, when you start the game you must.
game is amazing to see in hd, and even though theres quirks it is as fun a mech game (sans v-on) as ive ever seen and is even more awesome to look at.
Hilarious the number of people on here crying about the game being “constantly online”…Do you guys just blindly buy everything or is it just video games? If you did ANY research at all you would have read in the hundreds of articles/write ups before release that the game has a persistent online world. I personally think it’s great to be able to jump into a mission, keep an entire team of friends together, track their stats, work together and trade parts/money together at any time. If none of your team is online, you can hire mercenaries (other real players) to come in and help you out. If your team becomes strong enough, you actually control parts of the world map which other teams will then try to overthrow. The game controls are MUCH improved over AC4/4A and the upgrades are all still there. Tons of parts/mods/weapons/boosters/frames to collect and try. My only gripe is that the visuals somehow look worse than AC4/4A but considering it runs online with little to no lag, I’ll accept this minor gripe for the good of the gameplay. The game has a ton of potential to be long lasting, you just have to decide for yourself if you are a turtle in your basement and only want to play by yourself or if you want to take a chance and have some fun with other mech fans. Hop on in!!!
It might be too deep. The best part is that there is very little pain in failure. So fail, learn, and enjoy yourself. Before long, you’ll be piloting and creating mechanized war machines with the best of them. This game is heavily focused for online play. There is a single player game here, but it isn’t as substantial.Headset ownership is a great boon in aiding in-game communication.Manual, and online documentation is severely lacking. One must learn by playing and paying attention in-game.This game has a great balance to it. Strategy and skill will often trump over those who would normally appear to outmatch another with their gear.Ultimately, it’s a fun and challenging addition to the franchise.
I would only recommend this if you’re planning to play the game with your friends :p …the Co-Op is pretty neat. No interference when communicating and all that. Do not get it if you’re going solo. It tends to become a chore ;o
This most recent installment in the series does two major things in my opinion. it calls back to many stylistic points of the old, pre-AC4 series, yet takes a lot of bold risks in new areas and design ideas. some of them good, some of them bad, but none of them truly ruining the fun. This game gets a bad rap by many fans in my opinion because it is Very different from previous titles even if it calls back a little more to the originals in style. If you or your friends have copies, the co-op is recommended but not necessary, just because its rather fun and surprisingly well worked into the gameplay. they’ve gone with the smaller AC’s from previous titles as opposed to the larger-than building styled Ac’s from 4 and 4 Answer, which actually gives the environment more of an immersive feel to it, like one is actually hampered by and has to work within an environment, as opposed to my AC4 strategy of “destroy all the buildings so you can fight in a flat plain” tactic. they’ve altered certian loadout designs too, very different from the left weapon, right weapon, left back, right back, shoulder, bay weapons loadouts of previous, though it is really up to the player as to how it works. In my opinion, it works great, its just very different and requires one to adopt slightly different play habits from previous versions.I love how they brought back weapon effect types, like how there’s kinetic energy weapons, chemical energy weapons, and thermal energy weapons, though it is a shame the.
I have been following the Armored Core series since the first game came out on the Playstation. I through at least a hundred or so hours into the game and enjoyed it. After the first installment, only Nexus and Armored Core 3 were playable to me, until 5 came out. I felt the controls, parts and play style of this game are beautifully executed. It was challenging, but not too challenging and the mercenary system is interesting. Also, I really like the addition of designing your own facility.
I love the armored core series, and this one was way more fun than the others. The script for the voice actors is a bit cheesy, and the storyline isnt as well thought out as armored core 2, but overall, this game is a must have for any fan of fast paced, fully customizable, intense mech action.
