I thought this game really made the most of what SNES had to offer as a system. The graphics didn’t try to exceed the capacity of the system in any way but instead, delivered sharp, pleasant graphics in a specific and simple game play format. It was easy and pleasant to get through and the character respresentations were really classy.
works good
arcana is the greatest video game in the universe a true classic the best of the best arcana rocks ^_^
Arcana is a Retro RPG that involves turn based combat, using a front facing view, random encounters and a linear progression. With that being said, it also has a very simple menu system and is not overly complicated to get into. The game itself is about a Card Master named Rooks, the last of his kind, charged with having to save the world…basically. Pretty common theme back in the SNES JRPG days and this was no different. You will find and lose companions throughout your journey. You will collect loot from treasure chests, purchase new gear at shops, or even pick up some special cards to give you a special attack to use during battle. The star of this title is the music and really, its an odd thing that brings me back. I remember the music and think, "That is such a fun game."The reality, I have a great time playing it, but like most old school RPGs, the fighting gets VERY repetitive. It gets grindy also at times, though, I have played it a few different ways and you don’t HAVE to, but if you want some decent gear, you do since most of the best items are found in town. With the game separating itself into chapters and different towns, the farther you progress, the more varied the purchases become in town and logically, the more powerful you become. At the end of the day, it is a fun piece of gaming history and I for one will end up coming back. It is not the greatest RPG of all time – not even close. But for me, it has a soft spot with its perfect soundtrack and sound.
Sweet SNES 1st person dungeon crawler. You’re a bunch of playing cards…well…kind of. Get it. You’ll like it, just be warned, the Japanese to English translation is pretty bad; the story makes little sense, but it’s super fun.
