I gotta say this was very new to me by the way its played but it does stand out as a great team work game unfornately… They failed to do the voice acting right and the story was medicore and could have been better but on the bright side **SPOILER ALERT** L’arc does the same thing that Emil did in Tales of symphonia dawn of the new world but however he manages to stay alive and walk with ryfia which is great… Emil…. You never see him again… The final boss can be frustratingly difficult…
What sold me on this title was the music by Yasunori Mitsuda.Fun gameplay, nice graphics
Increadibly packed with things to do. Similar to Tales of Symphonia, except turn-based. Is definitely worth $. Should be $50. Plenty of outfits, weapons, and monsters. Very good game.
Pros:- Great graphics.- Great music/sounds.- Interesting storyline.- Creative Battle system.Cons:- Terrible voice acting.Arc Rise is a great game but has a terrible drawback that could ruin your experience playing it. The game has great graphics, though the camera can get clunky. The music and sound is great. The storyline is interesting though it’s slow on the uptake but once it picks up it gets you really engaging. And finally it’s the battle system that is interesting.Battle is turned base. You start with a pool of AP (depending on how many characters are in your party) and you assign all actions at the very start of your turn. Once you end your turn all the actions are carried out. Your max AP and AP regain per turn is dependent on the level and what character you choose. This of course calls for some strategic thinking as different actions you take can lead to powerful spells and combo. While for the most part regular battle hardly requires much thought, boss battles can prove difficult and will require you to strategize. You can’t win a boss battle by just randomly selecting actions.Weapons and magic also play a crucial part in the battle system as well. Each weapon has skills that you can unlock if you use the weapon enough. Once unlock you can customize those skills and put them onto other new weapons. Magic works the same way. Spells depends on what gems you equip and how you upgrade your magic. Planning your weapons and magic before a battle is crucial to winning it.
This game is amazing. The graphics are a sight to see and pleasant to the eyes. The characters all stand out and aren’t horrible to look at. For those of you who like anime, the artist/studio is the infamous Bones. One of their animes? Eureka Seven. See the resemblance?Anyways, here’s my Pros and ConsPros:The graphics are amazing. The music was done by the famous Yasunori Mitsuda (he did the Xenosaga series, Shadow Hearts series, and the Chrono series), and is pleasant to the ears and gets good when in a battle and when some dramatic scene is played. The controls are simple and can be used with the Wii Remote w/ Nunchuk, Classic Controller, and GameCube Controller. The battle is interesting as there’s an AP system, which is a lot like Skies of Arcadia, and can be diverse throughout the party. The overworld is a lot like the Tales Of Games and is vibrant. Many things to do, like upgrading weapons during battle and then using transferring the power from the weapon to another. The magic system is like the ORIGINAL Final Fantasy, where you use a point system (which is your MP) and can upgrade it in shopsThey have on-screen monsters, so no random battles (though I’m used to that due to Final Fantasy)Cons:It’s slow in the beginning and the battle system is a little hard to get use to, but is way easier than you think.I haven’t played the game far enough to get the cons, but I’m sure there are some that can be obvious. The voices………..THE VOICES!!!!!!!!!The biggest drawback in th.
Don’t be influenced about all the negative comments about the voice acting. It fits each character and gives them a uniqueness. PLAY THE GAME!! It’s consuming. It’s been awhile that I actually look forward to my next chance to play a game. Arc Rise Fantasia has done it for me. I can’t wait to pick up the controller and continue this one. Why the heck am I typing this review, I’m going to go back and play now.
I have played a few games like Arc Rise Fantasia and this has been the best so far. First off the game is incredibly long and is in between linear and non-linear as there are different aspects of the game that could make it both. The story line is what makes this game so great because it is very engaging and there are a lot of twists that you wouldn’t expect. The game play is simple when traveling and you typically always play as L’Arc. The fighting is a lot different though but extremely well thought out and fun! When fighting normal enemies you don’t need much of a plan but on bosses or Rogress it’s crucial that you think through every move, you don’t just swing your sword around. The fighting was one of the best parts of the game but it’s easy to die if you don’t have a plan for the Rogress. There is also a ton a stuff to do when you’re not fighting. You can visit towns and buy weapons and upgrade your magic and your orb. There are also a lot of cute side conversations you can have. I thought the imagery and music were really good and it was enjoyable and added to the mood. There is a large amount of places to explore which are all very unique and are different from one another. I found it pretty difficult to collect the Rogress. There are a couple things I had a problem with. There is a lot of fighting to level up your players and I found myself fighting the normal monsters a ton so I could level up enough to beat the boss. The voice acting is probably the biggest complai.
Arc Rise Fantasia is truly a return to the classic Role Playing game, the games I grew up with in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The game keeps being compared to the Tales of series, but after racking in close to 60 hours with the game from start to finish and even through the bonus dungeon I see very little in resemblance to the Tales of series. The game is overall charming and has a very nice story. For those that say the story is cliche they probably only played the first 4-5 hours of the game. The story has many twists and turns and for the longest time you don’t know if the protagonist’s party is representing that of good or evil. Besides a certain prince letting out a spoiler quite early in the game, that your main character is either too dense to realize or doesn’t really care about until much later in the game. The story is about the God Eesa and the two lesser Gods Real and Imaginal. The side your protagonist L’Arc accepts early on is that of Imaginal in hopes of saving the world. If that was the full direction of the story then yes it would be cliched but that’s only the beginning of this epic tale that involves betrayals, trust, and plot twists.Game play: The game play is very akin to that of Skies of Arcadia. Differences are you can move your character around the battle field which will cost 1 action point or AP. The AP of your three battle characters are pooled together so say you want L’Arc to attack twice, Ryfia to do nothing and Alf to attack you can do this..
This is an excellent RPG for the Wii. Only thing I fault is the voice acting. Its funny but when you look at most of the characters its just not the type of voice you’d envison them having. Then again it might just be me. Other than that great gameplay. A must by for an RPG collector or those who enjoy a good story.
This is a great game. Spent many hours playing it, and just started from the beginning again. The scenery is beautiful.
