I am a snowboarder and have to say that playing this game is the next best thing to being up on the mountain. The controls are perfect, the visuals a great, and the fact that it has multiplayer capabilities (including up to 4 players split screen). This game is a MUST HAVE for anyone who is looking for the best snowboarding game available on the Xbox.
This game differs from most other snowboarding games on the market, in that Amped 2 tries to base itself on real snowboarding. Other snowboarding games (e.g. SSX Tricky), have more of a video game feel.The game play is fairly simple to get the hang of, if you have ever played snowboarding or skateboarding games before. The goal of the single player mode is to move your way up the snowboarding ranks to #1. You accomplish this by getting high scores, media scores (tricking near media icons), sponsors, and by beating pro.s (a little like follow the leader). As you beat levels, your rider increases in skill level. (i.e. turns faster, jumps higher, etc. etc.). After you reach #1, you unlock "legend" challenges on each mountain. These are incredibly difficult challenges similar to the ones above (high score, media, or pro).The graphics and sound are really good. The trees and the snow look real, and the lighting looks pretty real as well. The sound is dead on, whether you’re snowboarding on ice, packed snow, or even rocks. And, one of my favorite features, this game allows you to play your own music on the soundtrack (although I have to admit some of the songs that came on the game were pretty good).The online version is good, but nothing special. The game types are: king of the hill, trick race, high score, or just ride. Typically, you’ll ride with about 7 or 8 other players. The game is pretty good about not lagging online. I’ve played a few snowboarding games for Xbox, and this one is my favorite by far. The mountains are unique and fun, the challenges (gaps, tricks, snowmen) are cool, and the overall look and feel of the game is excellent. My one complaint is that the manual (and the game itself) use lots of terms – for tricks, especially – that a person unfamiliar with snowboarding can have trouble understanding. For example, what kind of trick is an “impossible”? At first I thought that was a description of the trick, but then I realized that was the actual trick name.But aside from that, this game is tons of fun. Highly recommended.
I played this on my friends Xbox and at first I was like man he bought a snowboarding game, but in fact this game is awesome. It pretty much has it all and can be very hard and you have to stick certain things or go all out. It can really get irritating on pro and photoshot challenges towards the end of the career but it just makes you that much better or very lucky. Oh yeah in his game, maybe all, there is quite a few glitches, like starting a pro challenge and just falling backwards and falling into a cliff and be stuck.
One of the best snowboarding games ever. Right up there with Coolboarders 2 for PS1. If you like snowboarding, this is a must!
i keep my x-box hooked up just for this game! Amped 2 sets the standard for snowboard games out there! no lie, this is by far the best snowboard game ever. ssx are too fake and fast. amped 3 for 360, sucks compared to 2. Will someone please develop another realistic snowboard game like amped 2 for the newer systems please!!!! shawn whites snowboarding sucks along with every other one like it. i cant tell you enough how amazing this game is. you can take it slow in the game and ride very realistic or go fast and have fun. no fake stuff like SSX
GREATEST SNOWBOARDING GAME EVER. This is 10 years old but no new games compares when it comes to game-play. Works much better on the 360 than Amped 1.
If you still have an old Xbox, as I do of course, this is the best snowboard game ever made for it. I have quite a few games for the old Xbox but my kids and I always play Amped 2.
this game is really good me being a snowboarder knew i would love it, its very well done and fun to play, what makes this game even better is it features music from one of the best bands out there in my opinion…that being Hudson River School if you guys dont know who they are you should really check them out :)…I dont think i can post links but i can say if you google them they are like the 6th down from the top :)
Amped 2 is the most realistic Snowboarding game there is. It is more on the simulation side of he sport instead of SSX tricky, which is on the Arcade side. So it depends on what kind of snowboarding game you are looking for.GAMEPLAY: 4.5 StarsAmped 2 has a great trick system that has a fast learning curve to pull off tricks, but that doesn’t mean you can pull off monster tricks right away. The Career mode is good, you create a character and start with low stats and earn attribute points as you get farther into the game, like spin/flip, ollie, and balance points. There is also a great selection of gear and clothing, brands like Burton and Volcom along with many more. You’ll start unlocking new mountains in the game, real-life mountains around the world. I ride at Big Bear mountain and it looks really good with the real runs!!! Gameplay is definatley challeging but can be mastered with practice. Oh, did I mention XBOX LIVE???GRAPHICS: 5 starsGraphics are awesome, mountains are detailed, with ability to ride almost anywhere on them.
