Alpha Protocol is a very good game that people judge too harshly. The gameplay is fine. The graphics are fine. The story is great. The music is fine. Despite what people say, the voice acting is not that bad. Not great, but not bad. I loved this game for many reasons. 1.) I love stealth. This is a STEALTH RPG. It isn’t meant to be beaten guns blazing (though you can if you really want to). 2.) I love RPGs. This game allows pretty in-depth skill customization for what it is, and choices you make impact the story and how characters see you. 3.) I found the story very interesting. However, not everything is perfect. Everything could have been improved, but that’s true for any game. The biggest problem I had was the amount of small bugs and glitches that I encountered (bad/slow textures, AI glitches, weird gun-holding glitch), but they were not big enough to take away from the game’s fun, especially because they weren’t frequent. All-in-all, a very good game for its price. If you like stealth and RPGs, this game will be great for you. I’d recommend it.
This is the best game I have played in a long time. There are so many options for weapons, armor, gadgets, and how to upgrade your character. It takes thought to do this because you can’t upgrade everything all the way in one playthrough. The music and the whole feel of the game reminds me of the bourne movies which is great. In the beginning, you don’t have many skills so it is hard to shoot so I understand why people can get frustrated and hate the game. You are supposed to upgrade your skills. That solves that problem. I don’t know why they think it should be a shooter when the front of the case clearly says “The Espionage RPG”.The graphics can vary; they are not great but definitely not terrible. The worst graphics are usually in the cutscenes. The cover system is not the best but it works when you get used to it which doesn’t take long. I have not experienced any glitches so I cannot comment on that.I don’t know what is wrong with the critics. I see no reason why this scored so low with them other than they expect beautiful graphics and easy shooting from the get go. Maybe I just like being a spy more than a spaceship commander, but Alpha Protocol was more fun than Mass Effect 2 for me. How do graphics even matter if you are having fun? It is a game. It’s a shame the critics killed the sequel because this deserves a much higher score than most of them gave. I hope someone else decides to make the second one and don’t dumb it down. Just polish it more. Give them their pret.
This is the first espionage game I bought and I love it. The gameplay is good and the weapons are too. The graphics are surprisingly good as well for an old game is not that bad Overral this game gets a 10.
I really enjoyed the game. I Would love to see a part 2. The price was good and the game was good for a beginner.
So many times I pop games in and pop them right back out. Some of the best games have sustained this ADD relationship I have with my entertainment choices. I can’t say I have this same problem with Alpha Protocol. I love this game. I am a big time fan of stealth action genre. Splinter Cell, MGS, Assassins Creed, etc. I truly enjoy the elements of these greats that pour out this game. I feel reviewers are expecting too much out of developers these days. If it isn’t besthesda, bio-ware, infinity ward, or naughty dog… it shouldn’t be played. The problem is my fellow gamers. We are playing the same games over and over again with graphical and interface improvements. I enjoy a new experience. And while Alpha Protocol blends elements of Splinter Cell and Mass effect… it does so ambitiously. It’s like Deus Ex with a Bourne Identity story line. True branching narrative unlike anything on the current market and true freedom of mission progression. You have to accept that graphics are not everything. You have to look beyond the common texture pop in and RPG shooting mechanics. Once you take this game in spite of those two very insignificant flaws. You will find yourself engrossed in an amazing narrative and loving every minute of it.
Alpha Protocol is hands down my favorite game of all time. It’s a spy action rpg and political thriller all rolled into one!Pros: Infinite replayability, engaging dialogue, great action, fun gameplay, memorable characters, and massively entertaining storylineCons: (I am somewhat biased about this but if I had to choose) Combat takes a bit to warm up to, the story might be confusing to some, and the gameplay is slightly buggy.I would 100% recommend this game to anyone curious about this game or anyone that enjoys stealth/action games. I can’t express how much I like this game. Recommend anyone interested in Alpha Protocol to get it.
This game is actually enjoyable i bought the other day at game stop for 10 dollars it was very worth it i played this game for hours and hours it was very addicting! The AI is terrible. The music sucks. The game play is most of the time fun. The graphics aren’t that bad. The voice acting is decent most of the time seems like Micheal Thorton has no expression in his voice. The story Is great. The boss battles aren’t that bad but challenging when using martial arts.
Alpha protocol wasn’t that fun at first, but it does get way better as you progress in the storyline and learn more skills. Just for those who aren’t accustomed to RPG’s, it is a good shooter if you level up the skills of the guns that you want to use. At first you can’t hit the broad side of a barn, but once you either find mods for your guns hidden in the levels, or purchuse through the black market (and level up your guns), it turns into an awesome shooter. Just be patient, and the further you progress in the game, new guns, mods, armors, and gadgets will be available on the market. There is actually quite a bit of weapons and mods to find and buy. This is not really a run and gun game, nor is it really a stealth game. It’s more of a game where you have to approach each situation carefully. Stealth and firepower is an option, but neither will see you through the game alone. It’s linear in that aspect, but the abilities and skills are very fun, and this is a really fun game in general. It’s worth the price
A lot of people have given Alpha Protocol a bad rap. True, it has some issues, but the game is endlessly fascinating. I have played it through 5 times, and each time, I have gotten a different outcome. Many games advertise that the ending depends on your choices as you play the character. Alpha Protocol does this better than any other game I have played, better than KOTOR, better than Mass Effect 2. Events are sensitive to every nuance… not only to who likes you, and who doesn’t, who has died and who has not, but also to each verbal choice. Sometimes, you don’t see the effect of a single sentence. uttered early on in the game, until the endgame. The key to replaying this game is to play each run-through differently, because if you do, you will get different information, different options, and different outcomes as the game progresses. I am working on my sixth run-through right now, and I am looking forward to finding out what will happen this time. Be sure to listen the the newscast that plays while the credits roll at the end of the game; it describes the political effects of all your efforts during that game.
This game released to less than favorable reviews. After playing it, I’m not really sure why. The story has appeal and the characters are likable. The action is somewhat cookie cutter but that is common.I would class it as a game as not being worth a full $60 price tag, at $30 or lower it is a great purchase.
