The first person shooting game I ever played was COD-Modern Warfare 2 and I thought that was fun until I bought this game. Maps are bigger and there’s some vehicles you can ride or fly in the multiplayer. The more you play this game in multiplayer or coop, the more weapons and gadgets you get to unlock. What’s different between this and COD is that in COD, I felt like I was running and shooting all the time. Here, I plan on what to do try to stay with the flow on where the team is going. You can camp in one spot, but I will find you and cut your neck! The campaign game was pretty good. It’s probably not much different than COD since you are limited by where you can go. Most of the missions will be traveling by foot. There is one mission where you are co-pilot of a fighter jet and all you do is shoot and drop flares. There is another mission where you will be driving a tank. I manage to finish the campaign in about 6 hours in normal mode.Only thing I don’t get about these shooting games is that you can’t take cover and shoot while taking cover. For example, I want to peak around a corner and shoot without exposing my entire body.
Pros: Great online play, very realisticCons: Buggy as hell, freezes PS3 often, must sign in to PSN BEFORE starting the game or it will freeze the systemOverall I enjoy it, the only thing that would decrease the amount of fun in the game is the constant freezing of the game system. If you are buying it for single player mode, don’t bother, has about 4 hours worth of single player gameplay
Love this game! I just wish DICE would fix the issues we are experiencing with it. The graphics are superb, the levels are huge, and the frostbite 2 engine creates a destructible environment that is not only engaging, but visually stunning! The gameplay is lengthy in multiplayer when compared to Call of Duty. I have also noticed that lag is lessened as well, however, this is at the cost of waiting to enter a game.Pros:Graphically StunningDestructible EnvironmentFantastic GameplayBoats, Tanks, Trucks, Helicopters and Jets… Need I say more?Cons:Confusing weapon class setupMinor bugs/glitchesLots of server connection issues. Drops randomly, must wait to enter the server, and host not found on startup.Splits up parties randomly.***Update 12/8/2011***I have been playing this game consistently since its release. A lot has been improved on and I am glad that DICE is working to improve the games performance. Let me go over what has changed:1. The squad and joining feature has been improved so that a majority of the team you are now teamed up with your friend in game. Also, you usually both get the same squad as well. I think the reason it doesn’t always happen, is if teams are uneven or if there simply isn’t enough room on that team or squad. Most of the time we are on the same team and squad, if not the next game we switch over, which is okay with me.2. There are a ton more servers to choose from now.3. I am proud to say I haven’t had one drop from a game in a long ti.
I love BF3. I play it more than any other game I own. As a matter of fact its about the only game I play. The realism in this game is unmatched. At times, in multiplayer, the intensity in the game is unmatched. The Frostbite 2 engine is great, and destructable environments add a dynamic that is unmatched by any other shooter out there period. This is not an Arcade type shooter like COD, so be prepared for a learning curve. Once you have passed the test you will find this game to be a much more satisfying experience than any other shooter out there.
Amazing game! I have played this game religiously for years with a few friends and highly recommend it to anyone who likes first person shooters! The Battlefield series is in my opinion much better than Call of Duty. The game play is much more realistic with bullet drops and weapons that are not over powered. The maps and game modes are very similar to COD, but the game play is much more fun.
Great
YES YES YES, this is such a clear cut game, you play to get into a real battlefield. You don’t just play in a maze (call of duty) the map size never frustrates you because of the optional vehicle usage that is available to you. People still play this game since launch of the game.
I can not put into few words how awesome this game is… So I won’t. I have broken this review down into a few categories:GRAPHICS-Frostbite 2 is fantstic! This is probably the best graphics engine that any console game utilizes. The animations are smooth and realistic, and many textures look photo-realistic.SOUND-Sound is good. From the echoe of gunfire, to the roar of jets and helis; it just doesent get any better than this! This is a result of BF3’s HDR (High Dynamic Range) Audio, which makes all sounds simulated by the game, echo and resonate realistically, unlike MW3’s static sounds. Bleg.Campaign-Kinda stupid-Doesnt fit with the Battlefield SeriesMULTIPLAYER-VehiclesOK Weapons, some better than others-Vehicles-Fast Matchmaking-VehiclesOverall, Battlefield 3 is just fun. I for one, really find this game to be absolutely superior to Modern Warfare 3.Well spent $60 dollarsFew cons (Campaign)HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
In short:Multi-player mode = A++ Campaign mode = D (and that’s being kind!) Co-Op mode = Not yet playedMulti-player opinions:- It took a bit of time to get into the feel of it, but once it grabs you, you just can’t pull away. Many, many hours of fun!- Honestly, the thrills of the realistic battles and the amazing sound effects are unlike anything we’ve seen before!- Although the COD multi-player has a very different feel of gameplay, it just doesn’t have that IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE you get when you’re playing Battlefield 3. Wow! Really is amazing!- Using vehicle warfare and causing destruction with the Frostbite 2 engine…Seriously fun! …and the SOUND and GRAPHICS – NO CONTEST!Campaign mode opinions:- It sadly failed to impress me at all. Playing it once is enough- It was blatantly rushed. Not much substance. Very shallow- Artificial intelligence (a.k.a. the enemy!) was terrible. Most people would agree with that.- Voice-acting was passable…Just!- Wasn’t exciting like any of the COD campaigns. Somewhat boring a lot of the time. COD had a great soundtrack that helped make their campaign thrilling. BF3 failed on that. Pity..- Cut-scenes were corny…Really!- Lack of destruction (Frostbite 2 was absent in most of the campaign)Conclusion:Big contrast here…An awesome multi-player BUT terrible Campaign. In the end though… When the multi-player experience is as good as this – who the hell really cares?!?!**Big thumbs up**
I have been waiting for another good shooter game for a long time and Battlefield finally delivered. The online experience is unbelievable, it takes all the things that worked for the PC version of Battlefield 2 and all the things that makes COD work for the console and made it into one game. luckily they also took out all the things that made COD unbearable to play. The online play is a solid 10/10 without a doubt. The campaign on the other hand… just wow. I have never been so frustrated with a game, ever. You die everywhere, even after you have killed everyone and your just running into the helicopter to finish the level. They just pop out of the walls and kill you, then you have to restart that checkpoint and beat that really hard part again. The controls arnt as responsive in the campaign, which just makes no sense. You’ll have to click prone 3-4 times before your character well actually prone. Sometimes he wont do it period. But, I loved Battlefield 2 and it didn’t even have a campaign so I am OK with a crappy campaign.
