Ok, so I love this game, why not 5 Stars? Because there are a few things I don’t like, lets get to them first:There seems to be some tracking issues with punches. This drives me nuts, one punch will register, the second one won’t, not a deal breaker but nonetheless annoying. It also seems to have a problem tracking my pushups, it’ll miss a few here and there.Would these things stop me from buying it or recommending it to a friend? NO WAY!I have done p90x, worked out at the gym and you know all that kind of stuff. I fired this up and couldn’t believe how great of a workout I was able to get and it was fun! There are many levels in the game so if you are just starting they will push you well. What I find particularly amazing is how effective the core workouts are. The interaction and variety of this game are what really makes it fun to use. Instead of popping play on the same disc for weeks on end you can really vary your exercise regiment. The calorie tracker is great and the boot camp workouts are intense.Worth the money and makes exercise fun.
The reviews looked great so I gave this game a try and was not disappointed! On top of getting it for about half off THANKS TO retrolio :), the routines are surprisingly accurate and you actually see yourself in the game not your avatar performing the moves in real-time. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a home fitness setup. Obviously this is not designed to be a replacement for proper diet and other types of exercise but its so fun its easy to forget this is a workout! The graphics are also a nice change with the various cool landscapes (not just looking at more advertisements for Nintendo or Microsoft like with Wii sports and Kinect sports).Plus there was no way I was going to drop the amount of money needed for that P90X crap. And Your Shape even keeps track of your progress so it keeps you motivated! Love the auto save feature! I have’t been able to get in depth yet but I’m playing more every chance I get.The only thing I wish they would not do is they start each workout right off without showing you the moves before hand. At least for the very first exercise of the set anyway.
I purchased this Fitness game mostly because I wanted to learn how to do Yoga and Tai Chi. However, I have found that I enjoy most of the other things that are contained on the disk also. I have found that time basically flies when you’re using this as you get caught up in the game. I always ending sweating after the workout. Prior to this I played Soccer, Volleyball and Boxing on a 360 game and that was good exercise. This seems better to me as it is aimed at fitness first and game second. I’ve been using this a lot and I think I’ll continue. I would recommend this to anyone trying to either get in shape or stay in shape. I wouldn’t try boot camp again until I’m in better shape though…
I love it. I have been using it twice a week for the last 6-8 weeks and still love all of the activities. I’m not using it to lose weight or anything like that, I mostly use it for cardio. Two things I don’t love but aren’t a dealbreaker:1. When you set your goals you set a goal for how often/how long you want to use it like mine – twice a week for 30 minutes for 4 weeks – and then you set a specific workout goal – like mine – cardio focused, moderate level – and then it "flags" workouts and activities that correspond to that goal. Well you only get time "credit" if you do the flagged workouts. Well I don’t know all of the exercises yet and in order to get to a higher cardio level I have to do the lower level exercises until I know the moves well enough to do them quickly and in succession but the game does not track the time I spend doing the "easier" workouts. It does, of course, still track the calories burned and add them to the total but it doesn’t tell me really how long I’ve been exercising.2. I’m not super coordinated and some of the workouts move too fast for me to get it right and there is no way to slow things down. So for now, I just keep trying the same workouts until I feel I have gotten it down. But I wish it was somehow programmed to realize or you could tell it "I’m not following what you’re doing! Slow down!"That said, overall I really like it and would recommend it to anyone wanting to workout at home to something muc.
While I wish there was a bit more variety in some of the activities (like the hula hoop section!), it has a pretty good variety of activities overall and is fairly sensitive to recognizing your movements (It is still a Kinect game and will be influenced by how much space you have, lighting, etc.) Depending on your choices, it can give you a pretty serious workout, but also has plenty of easier options for beginners.
To start off, I want to state that I’ve owned this for a little more than a year and feel I have definitely gotten my money’s worth. That said, I can’t help but feel a little more time and effort polishing this title could have gone a long way. Before buying this title I’d say I maybe used my Kinect a handful of times, mostly just to show it off when it was new during parties. I could tell at the time though that it was great innovation to eventually achieve the holy grail of immersive and active gaming even if it needed some improvement. According to my states, I’ve since played this title about 60 or so times over the course of a year owning it. Here’s my simple list of Pros/Cons:Pros:Hands down best excercise focused game out there even if it’s a very small clubNice number and variety of excercises offeredUpbeat, loopy electronic background music keeps a rhythym without being annoying or overly repetitiveMakes working out in the privacy of your own home quick and convenientAudio voice queues, dings, and other feedback encourages you to keep up without being too abrasiveRelatively simple follow the leader style instructions means you can jump right inCons:No ability to customize much of anythingMany routines involve excercises with dumbells and there’s no way to know which ones those are before you startSetting goals and tracking progress is arbitrary and not very logical. Some excercises that shouldn’t count, while other that should don’t.Tracking can be hit and miss, espec.
After reading several (over 100) reviews) I decided to purchase this program. It is well worth the money! Fitness 2012 has four different levels to start your program with as well as allowing you to choose your goals. It keeps a count of how many calories you burn and also will correct your form while doing your exercises. There are a multitude of exercises to choose from and several levels inside to keep you advancing. I have been using this for three weeks now and have to say I have been sore the whole time due to the incredible workouts it will put you through. If you buy it, be ready to have a workout! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get back into shape or keep you in shape.
This is a fun way to get extra exercise! The day after my first go at it, I was sooo sore. The arm circles are different than the small ones you are used to, and you will find out you have these arm muscles that you never felt before! Haha. You will have fun, you will break a sweat. The downside is that you have to pay extra for more exercises, that I feel should be included in the cost. Also, if you want to keep track of your own personal calorie burn and don’t want to share your user, there does not seem to be an easy way to switch profiles. Instead of there being a "switch profile" option in the menu, you have to turn it off and back on, and there will be a "switch profile" option before you get started. The only other way is by switching gamer profiles on the xbox, but that might not be an option if you want to stay online for achievements and such. As a one person game, if you don’t plan on anyone else using it, this is pretty solid.
There are certain things about this game that annoy me, like the fact that it doesn’t tell you your daily calories burned. You basically have to just remember the last number you were at when you started, look at your new number, and subtract it. But even doing that is pointless because the calorie estimations are WAY off. Trust me, you’re burning more than it says you are. Also you’re supposed to be able to link it with uplay to keep track of your stats but as far as I know, that isn’t supported anymore. I will say that the workouts are diverse and fun and you can definitely work up a sweat with this game.
A great exercise game that will get you moving. The Kinect literally scans your image into the TV, where you perform exercises alongside your trainer. While the sensor is not always 100% correct with regard to your body placement, it is remarkably accurate most of the time if you are facing the Kinect at the right angle. The game tracks an estimated number of calories burned overall, and if you connect to XBox Live, you can store more detailed workout statistics/history and compete with other gamers.I use this game every day, whether for a full workout or a quick “run” through NYC or London. Some of the fitness games included, like Wallbreaker, provide a quick and fun warmup, and the Latin dance, Bollywood, and kick boxing workout classes are fun. I wish that it included some cooldown and stretch segments, but other than that, Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 contains many good activities, and the money spent on it as well as the time spent using it are a good investment in one’s health and fitness. Highly recommended.
