Had this game years ago and after getting it again its still a great and fun game to play solo or with multiple players.
Very happy with this product
Been on a massive THQ/AKI wrestling kick lately so I’ve decided toReleased during WCW’s heyday (and roughly a few months before WCW’s eventual downfall), the game showcases an astoundingly deep roster for game that came out in the 90s. A total of 63 WCW/nWo wrestlers were divided up into different factions: WCW 1 (main-event wrestlers), WCW 2 (mid-card wrestlers), WCW 3 (opening match wrestlers), WCW 4 (Cruiserweight wrestlers), nWo White, nWo Red, and Raven’s Flock. Further, there were roughly a dozen or so other wrestlers listed under the fictional EWF and DAW leagues included in the game; these leagues and wrestlers were modeled after All Japan’s and FMW’s top wrestlers, but had their likenesses changed to avoid copyright issues. The controls of the match are simple enough for anyone to jump in and learn, but you have to understand the psychology of wrestling (and use the controls accordingly) if you want to go deep into the championship modes of the game. Players use the B button to strike, A button to initiate a grapple, the d-pad to move, and the joystick to either taunt or execute a special move. The player can differentiate between a weak strike/grapple and a strong strike/grapple by holding the respective button down until the move is executed. The more "worn down" your opponent is, the better chances you have of successfully hitting them with a strong attack. Yet if you try to initiate a strong grapple on an opponent who’s not worn down, they’ll likely.
[This review has been heavily edited; it’s now 2020!] The guy who wrote that GameSpot review that retrolio has posted for this game was (and maybe still is) crazy! I don’t mean to sound opinionated or anything, but I don’t see how anyone who has ever actually played this game and the earlier WCW/NWO World Tour could ever disagree that this game is, overall, a BIG improvement! It’s the best WCW game as well as one of the best wrestling games, period! One of the best things about the game is the roster, which has about 50 (real) WCW guys, including a whole lot of my personal favorites, among them many of the guys named below. (Some of the guys here are fictional.) A few wrestlers and “tournament” modes are locked at the start, but they’re not really that hard to unlock, at least not with the difficulty level on “easy.” (In my experience, even the “easy” setting can be at least something of a challenge.) Each guy has four outfits to pick from. The wrestlers are divided by “faction” — WCW, NWO White, NWO Red, Raven’s Flock, and a couple of other (made-up) ones. Many of the biggest names in wrestling history are here, such as Hogan, Macho Man, Sting, Lex Luger, Bret Hart, Curt Hennig (a.k.a. Mr. Perfect), Roddy Piper, British Bulldog (Davey Boy Smith), Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and more, including the “cyborg” Goldberg! (But alas, there’s no Nature Boy!) There are also a lot of, well, “lesser” guys; some of them (such as Raven’s Flock) were pretty much losers, at least at the time (al.
I love this game is was a life time of fun, I first rented it for about a years time, after time, then i bought it i loved it and i still love it it is practicly a cheaper version of "no mercy" practicly the same just older people and no create player but it has edit player me and my fried rented "no mercy" we had a great time cause it was practicly the same as "revenge" but create player and allot more type of matches and I love the idea about the guest referee in "no mercy"
I had purchased quite a few games trying to find the one I remember. This game is fun and has a good roster of characters. The moves are simple and the game is fun hours on end. A good way to relax after a tiring day.
Worked perfect. Shipping was fast. Very happ.
