Amazing tennis game ..light years better than any tennis game in existence so far
I will keep my review short since others pretty much covered all aspects.This is the best tennis game I’ve ever played. (Not like I’ve played a lot of tennis game, lol. But I do play real tennis).PROS:The control is very responsive, the physics/timing just feels right (especially if you play real tennis, you will know what I am talking about). Player creation is fun and detailed. (You can even tailor your player’s standing/serving animation, which I value a lot.)The career mode ACTUALLY involves a career this time!! I wouldn’t compare this career mode with other well-established sports games like Winning Eleven or NBA series. It’s not that good, but it gets you moving. It was exciting for a while until you beat the top players and win every major tournaments (then it gets boring, I stopped playing at this point).Academy mode is very helpful and it teaches you a lot about real tennis.CONS:- The loading time before match is long. The saving time is long. It saves very frequently and it can be very annoying. I feel like I spent more time on loading/saving than actually playing.- Career mode gets very boring once your character reach a certain level. (I pretty much win every single tourney under “hard”, at around level 17)If you are not a tennis fun, buying this game at full price can be risky.
Top Spin has the best quality images and moves of any other game I’ve ver seen! But it is really difficult to play because you need to hit the ball in the exact moment!Anyway this is a four star game! 100% Recommended!
First thing first, this game is not designed for move and if you play it only using move controllers you will be greatly disappointed. Lucky I am nowhere close to a casual player so I enjoyed playing this game almost like how I enjoy playing real tennis. I liked top spin 3 and this new installment just blew that one away with excellent graphics and gameplay controls. I am a 4.5 tennis player and spend averagely 6-10 hours every week playing outdoor tennis. Top spin 4 is the closest thing to the real tennis. The online world tour mode is a blast and you feel you are really playing the grand slam matches. Give it some time before you really master the game play and you will be happy about what you see. I noticed some sound glitches during the game (it happened a few times when the sound become broken and after I reset the game the problem fixed itself), but this does not hold back the fact that this is by far the most enjoyable tennis game I have played.
Great game but not the full atp calendar which I believe a tennis sim should have, Online support was poor.
I play it all the time
I thought Topspin 3 was great but this tennis game is even better. The overall graphics and sound have been improved, the career mode has been overhauled and tremendously upgraded and the game play has been simplified and therefore improved. Even the attribute accumulation scheme in career mode has been simplified and again therefore improved. The only thing this game doesn’t have is Sharapova , dirty uniforms as matches progress and a fixed TV zoom camera angle but with all the other improvements I think I’ve forgotten already. You should definitely pick this game up. It’s far less frustrating than the previous edition and I would coin it as the MLB The Show of tennis.
Amazing tennis sim
Well I was a Virtua Tennis 3 and Virtua Tennis 2009 fan (with the limitations that the game has) but now that I discovered Top Spin 4 I just can say this is real tennis with great graphics, smooth playing experience and a variety of strokes that really work like being on the court. The created players have more realistic faces and names than those in VT.Something I noticed with the PS3 games is that the Blu-Ray capacity is not being fully used, most games look similar as on XBOX360 DVD based system.I started playing tennis with the memorable “Pong” video game…but now I just can say Top Spin 4 rules the arena.
