The good: The scenery is great, the puzzles are fun, and the story is quite good, although there is a bit of muddling in the middle. I’m a huge adventure fan and enjoy solving puzzles and getting the whole story so this game was quite fun.The bad: Most of the puzzles were great. There were a couple that frustrated me, just out of common sense, not out of solving. For example, Holmes needs to untangle some rope for a puzzle, despite the fact that he has a knife he could use to cut through it all. Also, I REALLY dislike the format of adventure games that don’t let you interact with everything at once, so you leave, thinking there’s nothing more to do. There’s a point in the game where Holmes tells Watson there is nothing to do in a particular area, and that they should leave. So I did. And was really stuck, so I had to look up a hint. The hint informed me that I had to look at something first and then go back to where Holmes said there was nothing to be done. The problem is that the particular thing that Holmes is required to look at really doesn’t need to be seen, its not needed, because there is other evidence around that would clearly have been useful.I know I typed more bad than good, but this game is really fun, and Frogwares keeps making them better so good show! Excited for the next one.
My son and I had a good time playing this game. The movement of the characters is a little strange at times but it has a good plot.
I admit that I usually play shooters, RPGs, and racing games, but I was looking for something with an engaging story.I am only 1/3 of the way through TTOSH, but so far it has a pretty good story line. The voice acting is fairly well done, and the graphics are decent. I’ve also enjoyed most of the puzzles, and the idea of some of the ways to analyze clues are amusingly novel without being too tedious. The deduction board can be a bit frustrating though. It is very picky about getting each detail choice correct before you can determine the correct end outcome. Admittedly, there has been one time where I had to systematically go through all the possible combinations to get the correct outcome, but what was frustrating is that once the deduction is "correct" it doesn’t let you see the other options, so you can’t really determine where your personal deductions were incorrect.Overall, if you are the type of player that never hunts for the extras in an RPG, and only enjoys very linear FPS games, then TTOSH will probably frustrate you. However, if you enjoy finding all the trophies in Tomb Raider, and spent extra time on side quests in GTA, then you will probably enjoy this game.Regardless, for the $8 I paid, I am happy with the game, and plan to play it more in the future.
This is a fun but tough game. It is not easy to find the clues you need to complete the scenes.I had to go on line and find walk through’s to solve many of the puzzles. Not as good as LA Noire but is entertaining.
Really could have been awesome, like LA Noire. However, you must solve each case exactly the way the game wants, there is a use for each and every item in the game, there is no free roam, you spend a lot of time walking around trying to look at everything to find what you missed. In short, you end up trying to make the game happy. Plus there is a glitch that prevents you from walking through doors or walking away for about five seconds after they open. There are a lot of doors, so this adds up to like ten minutes waiting at open doors spinning in circles. Should have been way cooler.
More difficult than I thought it would be. Thankfully there are online "cheats" or I might still be stuck at 30 minutes in.
A puzzle/pixel hunter type game with a great story. It clocked in a little short and some of the puzzles were a little on the difficult side (as they offered little instruction/clues, and were somewhat obscure) but in the end they were all solvable. I can’t wait to play it again! My wife played this and loved it. Much improved from Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper (2009) which was also good but the engine felt a little dated. I only wish they would port more of their titles to the Xbox from PC!
Poorly written. Numerous glitches in program throughout game. Watson continually gets Sherlock stuck and can’t move around. Simplist game of the entire Sherlock series and I have every one. This is the only one I have for xbox 360 and I am very disappointed. This game has been a complete and total disappointment, a disgrace to all preceeding games. What happened? Did the original programers die? WHAT A JOKE!
A slow paced story, not too hard, pretty fun, I did complete the whole thing … more out of interest to the story than game-play action/fun.Actually, I did block out the children. Never have I wanted ugly children to die in horrible accidents so badly before. On the upside, there is Toby The Wonder Dog. Why we needed to play anyone other than Toby The Wonder Dog is beyond me, Toby The Wonder Dog seems capable of accomplishing anything.
If you like Sherlock Holmes, then you will love this game. A bit darker than your average Holmes story, but I enjoyed it. Great game.
