Great games (albeit they are a bit old). Everyone should play Half-Life 2, since it’s such a significant game and has a great history behind it.
Arrived today Friday, it is in excellent condition: both the original packaging and the disc are outstanding. Thanks so much. This is one of great Xbox games
First off I rated this game a 5 stars because this game sucked me into the story since the very start. I’m talking about half life two, the story is kind of confusing at first since I never played the first Half life. All I did was go on youtube to look up the first games lore and I have to say the universe of Gordan Freeman is very intriguing to say the least. The game really pulled me in that much more since I knew what was going on. The shooting mechanics feel solid and responsive. The feeling of killing an alien and or a Combine solder feel really good as well. It was hard to put the controller down to be frank….The weapon slots are easy to access whenever you want to switch a gun on the fly. Yes this game has weapon slots no carrying just two weapons like modern games. This has a very old school fps feel. The game essentially feels like you are on an adventure and the reason I keep bringing up the word feel is this game has a unique style of fps gameplay that you just don’t see anymore in modern fps.The art style for a decade old game is very impressive as well. You see how the world is on the brink of total devastation that brings you to a total investment of the game. It has great facial animation for the characters you see down the line. Very L.A Noire if you ask me with the facial animations. This game has aged very well since its first release back in 2004. It can go toe to toe with even some of the more recent video games being released. I just have to give credi.
Great games purchased for my grandson for Christmas. There are several games included. Quite a bargain.
If you looking for a good deal ($19.99) for three very good games, this is an excellent choice, instead of buying three separately, you get all 3. I found this when I originally wanted Team Fortress 2, and was a little hesitant, but after I saw that Portal was included(which was on my list of games to try) and so was Half Life 2(which I had heard was a great game) , I was instantly sold. An overall great buy for $20
$20 for this series of games makes this an amazing deal. The Half-Life 2 section of this game alone is worth that, and with Portal included in the purchase, you just can’t go wrong. If you played the original Half-Life on the PC like I did, you’ll love this game. The fluidity of the game relative to games like the Call of Duty series is lacking, but the gameplay is still great and very challenging. Seriously, this is the greatest deal out there for a collection of games.
I was not a fan of any valve products before I bought this. I am now a convert! Portal of course is amazing but the Half-Life 2 and Episodes are incredible. Incredible. And Team Fortress 2 is no slouch. So much replay here.Gameplay – 10/10 brilliant pacing, exciting sequences, and games that don’t treat you like you’re 5. Also, innovative mechanics, very very few bugs, and stable performanceGraphics/Art – 10/10 especially for it’s time. It still holds up very well. The art direction on these games is some of the finest ever in the industry.Story – 10/10 for all but TF2, which doesn’t really have (or need) one. Minimalist but perfectionist storytelling, throughtful and meaningful plots.Writing – 10/10 especially Portal. Self-explanitorySound – 9/10 ambient, creative, interesting but not groundbreaking.Replay value – 9/10 for the Box as a whole, mostly in Portal challenges and TF2Yeah, this Box is an all-time favorite.
I had played Half Life and Half Life 2 before, the latter on a PC in 2006. Most of the bugs associated with the Steam content delivery system had been eliminated by then but it was still a chore to get things up & running. The desire to play HL2 on a stand-alone console system is what eventually motivated me to buy a refurbished XBox 360 (reviews seemed to indicate that HL2 on the Play Station 3 is buggier).Well, great experience so far. HL2 plays exactly as I remembered from the PC days, no bugs whatsoever & the use of a console controller makes for effective gameplay. HL2 won a bunch of awards in part because of its atmosphere – the attention to detail is astounding & the player becomes immersed in the environment of the East European flavored City 17. You can play the game with a developer’s commentary track (accessed via clicking on icons floating around in the game environment) – it’s interesting to learn about some of the game design considerations & decisions. I’ve played the Episode 1 game as well; it seems to play longer than a one-third part of HL3. Episode 2 is on deck for me. The only kvetch I might have with HL2 is that the gameplay is very linear – it’s obvious which door you should take because there’s only one door, etc. The original Half Life seemed to have more situations in which you had to rationally figure out a course of action. Or perhaps I was just inexperienced in those early days of gaming…I thought the wife might like Portal, what with its physics.
This is basically 5 games in one! Half-Life 2 is a really good first person shooter with pretty good story line. Team Fortress is OK, for and online multi-player game. Portal has become one of my new favorite games. Over all, a must buy!
Wanted to purchase a new game, not used as it was a gift. Shipping was quick and the kid is very happy
